Straightforward but lacking rationale........2007-06-05
A very insightful and informative volume of addressing various breeds' grooming expectations. Covered are the types of tools and even suggestions on chemical hair products that would enhance and attain the styles described.
The illustrations should have been more descriptive, using slides of steps, rather than rudimentary colored images of subjects with arrows showing direction of cut. In many cases, the depictions of certain breeds are not very accurate; some are even clumsily drawn.
Lastly, each breed's coat and classification has a purpose, regardless of the dog being a pet or an active service, hunting, working, herding, pulling, or performing animal; the history of grooming cuts should have been rationalized and justified beyond the standards of the show ring.

NICE BOOK IF YOU ONLY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO BATHE, TRIM EARS OR CLIP NAILS. DOESNT TELL YOU WHAT SIZE ATTACHMENTS TO USE OR WHAT PART OF THE BODY TO USE THE DIFFERENT ATTACHMENTS.ITS BETTER IF YOU HAVE A POODLE, MORE PAGES DEVOTED TO IT. ONLY ONE PER OTHER DOG!
good for groomers not Kennel Clippers.......2006-03-24
IF you need a book to learn how to start Kennel clipping, do not buy this one.
IF you want to be a groomer in a city and work in someone else's shop then go for it.
I do strip clips and summer clips so this book was not very helpful to me in that area.

I use this book for my clients to look at while picking their dogs new hair cut. The book leaves out some breeds but covers most, and has faily good drawings. There still are better books out there.

Groomers beware.......2005-12-12
This is an ok book for new people, but it has several safty issues, and doesn't have the show cuts for many dogs, poodles. It also has the wrong cuts from some of the dogs. There are better books out there.

this book has every breed that you'd ever come across at work. BUT... We don't like the short grooming discriptions and especially the pictures/illustrations. Don't get me wrong, Lynn Miller is a great artist. Our fellow employees have agreed that we'd much rather see a photogragh or better yet, a before and after photo of some more difficult breeds.
Bordering on useless.......2004-01-13
This book is supposedly a reference for professional dog groomers. As one, I find it disappointing. The illustration quality is variable, and on one particular clip (the miniature schnauzer, I believe) there is a serious error in the clipping guidelines. Not enough angles of the dog pictures are shown for you to be able to discern the clipping pattern. Also, most dog groomers use modified forms of the show cuts on their customers' dogs. This book fails to describe or even mention these alternative clipping styles, which I think are not only invaluable to dog groomers but to laypersons as well who choose to groom at home.

I loved the details on the drawings! Giving the type of blades to use for clipping dogs was fantastic. This is a great resource to have for any groomer.
When you buy, make sure to order the comb binding - that way, the book stays open for easy reference!

OK, not for the professionals, but I have been grooming in a salon for 3 months and this book is a great help. Step by step without being over-explanatory. The section on poodles is extensive giving many different types of cuts. The pictures give a nice idea of what the standard cuts should look like for the various breeds.

After Grooming For Years.......2004-05-02
I've been grooming dogs since I was 13yrs old, and luckily,My teacher was incredible. She specialized in Terriers.
As we all know you can go years without seeing any number of breeds. If you havent seen a Wire Fox Terrier in 15 years
one glance at the Illustrated Guide you will have no trouble. Trust me I've done it!!!

This is an amazing book! As an aspiring groomer-in-training who had never laid a hand on a pair of clippers, this book is FANTASTIC!! It has everything from tips on getting the perfect bath to getting out undercoat to how to tell exactly what your clients are asking for, complete with photo references, drawings, and step-by-step instructions. This book is a staple in my groom shop, and it should be in EVERY serious grooming establishment! YOU CAN'T FIND A BETTER GROOMING BOOK THAN NOTES!!!

I am currently training to be a Groomer/Pet Stylist and this is the book my company uses in their grooming academy to train all groomers. It is wonderful. It is very helpful to know that you can turn to any page in this book and find the breed of dog you are looking for. There are also general instructions that apply to many breeds (ex: teddy bear heads, etc). Directions are simple, yet detailed enough for anyone to understand. A must have for groomers and pet stylists!

A Masterpiece for every groomers library........2006-03-30
Over 40 years of my life has been spent in the grooming industry. As a kid I grew up working after school in my parents pet salon and today I operate PetGroomer.com to help others succeed in grooming. Let me assure you that Notes From the Grooming Table is truly a must for every groomers library. What a reference work! So much added grooming information besides breed styling by AKC breeds makes this a classic reference work. Invest in your career and obtain this book on the how-to side of grooming pets. Great buy for a great book.......2004-09-25
This book was a godsend for those who love whitewings, but don't want to shell out money to have more than one plane. The planes take about 20 minutes to cut out each, and another 20 minutes to assemble. The smaller planes seem to be a little heavy so choose your cardstock carefully. The bigger planes fly the best.
I have built two of them from cardstock, printed on a laser printer, and can't wait to build another one. This is a fun book filled with facts about flying and airplanes. Each page has facts about the gliders, as well as physics principles behind them.
If you want more planes, there's a companion book that offers jet planes, written by the same author.
I bought my book new at Atlantic Books for $3.98

It's OK.......2000-08-03
This book is an OK book. It has gliders for beginners to Intermediate makers. I recommend that you get the kit or else you will have to get unusual sized index cards and would also need to copy the pages. You should not cut the pages out incase you need to refer to them or if you lost a piece so you could redo them. The instructions are somewhat confusing but you could understand them. The book has an interesting section about gliders, about them and tips for your glider such as makeing them fly better by adding something at the end... and tips to make it look nice. Overall I give the book an OK, three stars.

The models in here are from real gliders with excellent performance. The only hard part was trying to find the 5x7"in. note cards to trace on. You'll really enjoy this book!

This volume is an edition of the fragments of the Greek epic and elegiac poet, Antimachus of Colophon (ca. 400 B.C.), an important figure linking the literatures of Archaic and Classical Greece with that of the Hellenistic Age. The introduction examines the poet's life and work, discussing both his poetry and his activity as a Homeric scholar. It concludes with an assessment of his reception by Hellenistic and later writers. The body of the book is a critical edition of the 200-plus fragments of Antimachus' work. Each fragment is supplied with a commentary elucidating both text and context, with particular emphasis on Antimachus' use of his predecessors, especially Homer, and on his own influence upon the Hellenistic scholar-poets.
