Book Description
A powerful collection of true stories that provide anecdotal evidence of horses' emotions and their ability to reason.
Customer Reviews:
common person.......2007-08-28
While the book was a great read it was not a how to book. I wanted more help with animal communication. This book really just gave extraordinary examples of a fabulous animal communicator so as to convince nonbelievers, but there wasn't a how to part.
Not what I Thought.......2007-06-27
This book is actually about a "psychic" who "talked" to the horses and then writes down the horses' "responses". I really didn't get that idea from the written description of the book before I ordered it. I was really disappointed in the concept as it seemed rather silly in some of the "responses" this psychic recorded! Waste of money.
What Horses Say.......2007-03-25
This is an excellent book. Thoroughly enjoyed it and learned so much from it.
Great Book.......2006-09-05
This was a very easily readable book. It was a book I could pick up anytime and not have to go back and reread the last several pages to remember where I had left off.
Julie Dicker is an intuitive and a healer. Apparently she has not only communicated with thousands of horses but done hands-on healing work also. Although the authors were obviously from the UK, most of the wording was easily followed. If I had a complaint it would be that they did not go into more details about how Ms. Dicker actually does her healing work.
As an animal communicator as well as healer I found this book to be an exceptionally authentic representation of horses' feelings and intelligent minds. It truly puts meaning to "The best thing that can happen to the inside of a human is the outside of a horse."
Feeling, Hearing, Loving, Healing.......2006-05-09
I try to read all the books on animal communication, and equines are my first interest.
This was a very easily readable book, and I nearly finished it in a weekend.
Julie Dicker is an intuitive and a healer. Having communicated with thousands of horses, her vast experience was used to highlight a number of specific "cases" she was involved with. It is quite obviously an English book, as opposed to American, but all the terms were pretty easy to figure out in context.
Having been around horses most of my life, nothing said in the book was particularly surprising, but I did like the little surveys done at the end of each chapter.
Asking horses what they like and what is important to them brought some surprise answers for anyone sure they would say grass, hay, or grain. To be busy and useful was the number one most important thing for horses, and receiving praise and attention even beat out food.
A clear majority of the horses preferred to remain outdoors as opposed to stabled, but in every poll, there were exceptions.
There are other books that go more into teaching one how to communicate intuitively with animals, but this book is noteworthy for the shear volume of material about the experiences, perceptions, and preferences of horses.
Whether one believes in intuitive animal communication or not, there is a wealth of material here for anyone interested in better understanding our equine companions.
While many breeds of horses and ponies were represented, there was no material from donkeys or mules. While there are many similarities with horses, donkeys and mules have some definite differences. Though these differences have been explored by sensitive trainers such as Meredith Hodges, I would love to hear what a good intuitive such as Julie Dicker could learn from donkeys and mules.
Julie and the author's love for the animals comes through in every aspect of this enjoyable book.

Book Description
The trademarks in this collection represent some of the finest graphic design to emanate from Britain between the wars. Author John Mendenhall has gathered over 280 trademarks and logos from the archives of the British Library and categorized them by subject. From the carefree exuberance of the twenties to the back-to-work ethic of the thirties, these trademarks reflect the moods and successes of industry prior to World War II and the advent of diversified, multi-national conglomerates.
This book will serve as an inspiration for designers and commercial artists seeking source material beyond the abstract designs of the past twenty years and will fascinate anyone with its unique and often humorous glimpse back to a more innocent era in British life.

Customer Reviews:
Very Informative.......2005-08-12
I disagree with the previous review. I think this book does a good job of explaining things that beginners need to know. I especially liked the introduction/history of needlework and the many color photographs included. The book discusses materials and equipment needed to start stitching and gives clear instructions with visual aids in how to do the various stitches. It also talks a bit about designing your own work, and finishes as well as caring for your work once it's completed. This is a good resource!
Ok but not super.......2003-10-22
It's a mixed bag book. It's really not for beginners though ti shows lots of stitches and how to make them because it does not have attendant information
about making a project. I'd recommend instead as a beginner book Jo Verso's
book and once you've finished that you may be interested in some of Betty's techniques. If this is your first book you will be disappointed.
Customer Reviews:
Pretty good, but . . ........2005-03-11
The concept for this book is very interesting to begin with. The book contains four novellas, about the same characters, but each are written by a different author. Each novella takes the perspective of one of the Stafford siblings and his or her love interest. The book is easy to read and sewing images are clever. The first three stories were pretty good and built on each other well. The last story was disappointing. After investing myself in the first three and getting to know and love the characters, I found them to be a lot different in the fourth novella. The surface things were the same (timeline, names, position etc. . .) but after enjoying and liking the characters for the first three stories, they were not likeable or sympathetic in the last story. The wisdom and grace in the older characters (the characteristics that made them the people that you would want to go to when you had a problem) was completely missing. The Godly encouragement and lessons learned were also missing. The main characters in the third story didn't seem to grow in the Lord or even develop. I love the time period and read a lot of books in this type of setting. I enjoy the unique trials and triumphs usually found with this type of fiction, but I would have to say that I only enjoyed it half as much in this book. I would like to see this same concept (four novellas, same characters, different authors) done more often, but done better
A Stitch In Time.......2004-07-30
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and liked the way the novella's built on each other. The characters were--for the most part--realistic and the stories well-written. I loved the Testement brothers, they added a fun touch to the stories.
You won't be disappointed by this novella collection.
a wonderful read.......2004-07-17
I fell in love with the Stafford siblings and their romance troubles (and their neighbors too, especially the mischievous Testament Brothers)! It was fun to see how each brother (and a sister) fought love, only to end up right in the middle of it!
These stories, written by four authors, blend well and make you feel like you're a part of the family. I especially enjoyed the stitching theme 'woven' thru-out (sorry, I couldn't resist).
Join the family fun and read about Micah, Louisa, Josh, and Sam as love blooms in No Man's Land west of the Oklahoma territory!

Marie Barber's 515 Inspirational Cross-stitch Designs.......2002-08-11
Most are smaller designs and very pretty. These are inspirational designs with some Christian designs. Designs include -Children,birdhouses, small flowers, vases with flowers, tea cups, wreaths, 3 samplers,as well as grapes, crosses, 2 Bibles, praying hands,a church. Seems like you could put together beautiful samplers using these designs. The diagrams are colored and easy to read. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is that there are very few pictures of the finished designs, it's mostly just diagrams and I would prefer to have the finished product as well as the diagram.
Cute and topical.......2000-06-23
I bought this book thinking it would have more religious symbols and designs than it did, but I still find it useful. Most of the patterns are small, but there are a few large ones. The pattern are done in color, so it is easy to make sure you have the right colors. Good for every one from beginners to experts.

Truly Inspirational Cross-Stitch.......2001-09-03
This is a must have book. I first saw the book at the public library, and realized that there was no way that this pattern book would be one that I would be content just to borrow for two weeks - I had to find a copy that I could keep! The quality of the patterns is wonderful. The patterns are full color, and large so that they are easy to use. Unlike many patterns books that only have one or two patterns that I like well enough to do, each of the projects in this book are so beautiful that it was hard to decide which one to do first. The low price here certainly makes this a book that you won't want to pass up.
Inspired by Inspirational Cross Stitch.......2000-08-19
This has got to be the best cross stitch book that I have ever seen or owned. I have never been able to find its equal. I have made about one third of the patterns in it and plan on making them all. I've given most of them for gifts. The patterns are easy to follow. The pictures and saying are just BEAUTIFUL. I can't say enough good things about this book. I've about worn it out and will soon need to buy another.
