Great ideas but totally inadequate instruction.......2007-02-06
As a sales pitch for Tellington Touch, this book is great. As an instruction manual, it is totally worthless. Complex gestures such as those mentioned in the book need illustrations that take one step-by-step through the manipulation process. There aren't any, just a few photos that show one stop action part of the whole.
It did get me to take a T-Touch workshop, which was beneficial for my old and arthritic dog. The process works. The book doesn't.
A great method for working with animals.......1999-09-10
I have applied the methods in this book to various cats at a homeless cat shelter. It is a lot of fun and the cats really like it too. The book has many fascinating stories of how Tellington developed her methods and how she has applied them to an incredible range of animal species.

This books content is out of this world, taking you further than any book i have ever read. I could not put it down from start to end. One of the questions i often ask myself is does my dog really know just how much i love him. After reading lindas book and trying the ttouch i got my answer. Yes he does and the feeling is returned ten fold. Thankyou linda

If you like ANSONIA clocks, you MUST have this book........1998-03-19
Tran Duy Ly has a series of clock books for Identification and Pricing. His books are FAR SUPERIOR to ANY other clock book of their type. Whether you're a novice or advanced collector, you cannot do without his guides. His comprehensive guides offer hundreds of photos and illustrations of actual clocks produced from owners and manufacturers original catalogs. His books offer difinitive answers to your questions about authenticity of your prized timepiece. His thorough review of the companies history and other details mandate these books as a requirement for the clock enthusiast. His books picture the various movements that were utilized and even several pendulums. His pricing scheme utilized is NOT based on only one persons opinion to thier value. He involves an international base of "experts" on the chosen topic and through their inputs to the value (from across the U.S. and abroad) arrives at an average value for each clock. Each book contains values for most every model of clock produced by factories such as Gustav Becker and American firms such as Seth Thomas and others. I have been fortunate to be selected to assist Mr. Ly in compiling and pricing several of his books. Having bought and sold in excess of 20,000 antique clocks, I share my knowledge with YOU. Book Description
The "first half of history" covers the interval between the invention of writing in Sumer and the floruit of classical Greece. During these two and a half millennia (ca. 3000-500 BCE), the Near East is the primary locus of written documentation, and thus the place where the emergence of humanity's achievements can be followed in detail. Two centuries of persistent exploration of the Near East have led to the recovery of much of this documentation, and the recovery continues at an unabated pace. The discoveries made in the field, and their interpretation in the scholarly literature, are brought to the attention of a wide public in three volumes, prepared by leading scholars in all the principal language areas of the ancient Near East.
The first volume to be published, Canonical Compositions from the Biblical World, is devoted to "literary" texts - those responses to the world about them by which the creative minds of antiquity sought to come to terms with their environment, real or imaginary. The second volume, Monumental Inscriptions from the Biblical World, emphasizes "historical" texts: the monuments in which the rulers attempted to memorialize their achievements and lesser mortals expressed their loyalty or piety. The third volume, Archival Documents from the Biblical World, incorporates "economic" texts - the unassuming records of daily life which nonetheless go far toward permitting the reconstruction of social, legal and commercial institutions that concerned the majority of humanity.
All these canons, monuments and documents provide the context in which Biblical literature flowered. They have therefore been selected in part to illuminate the comparisons or contrasts with specific Biblical passages that have been identified in the scholarly literature. These passages are identified in each selection, and in the extensive bibliography provided. Other selections have been made to illustrate the range of the ancient documentation, or to highlight new discoveries. Elaborate indices are designed to call attention, not only to Biblical parallels, but to those among the ancient sources themselves.
This authoritative three-volume reference work is an invaluable research tool and essential reading for all those engaged in the study of the Hebrew Bible in its ancient Near Eastern context.

New Ancient Near East.......2001-07-29
This 3-book series is an extensive update of the classic Pritchard ANET (ancient near-eastern texts). Though some of the texts are shortened from Pritchard's volume, the new texts, number of texts, and more up to date translations and notes more than make this book worthwhile... if you can afford it :-) Otherwise, the 2 Pritchard paperbacks are quite reasonable.

It is Outstanding, it is on level with Prichards' ANE Texts -- though there is some repeatition of material. This Volume is an interesting read, diffentantly not an one nighter :-) A four day weekend should do it -- Though you will hate taking sleep breaks.

Dr.s Saunders and Campbell bring the silent voice to the front through their experiences on the streets in Atlanta. This book is helpful in understanding more about urban issues (Atlanta's specifically), as well as reframing homiletics and personal context. Some easy chapters, some more difficult. Definitely worth the read!

Book Description
In this book the author explores how contexts determine the meaning of embedded scripture texts in the Gospel of Mark. Many historical critics base their readings on a context that is external to Mark's story world, be it a reconstructed socio-religious setting of the evangelist, a Jewish exegetical tradition or some earlier stage in the development of the gospel.
What is common to these readings is the neglect for the context of the story world- the very context in which scripture quotations and allusions are embedded. The author proposes a method of reading these embedded texts that is sensitive to the story world, though not at the expense of the historical setting in which the gospel was written. Jesus' announcement in 1:15 concerning the kingdom of God serves as the point of entrance into Mark's story world.
