The emphasis is on providing the most in-depth and up-to-date informaton about subjects vital to caring for and living with a JRT, including behavior problems and training, medicine and hereditary health problems, nutrition, genetics, and breeding. Information on fun stuff to do with your terrier, such as training for earthdog competitions or even going hunting, is also included, as are tamer diversions such as agility, racing, and conformation. This is not a book of pedigrees and show-win photos, but a book for people who enjoy the JRT in every facet of its being. Intersperced in the text are lots of color photos of JRTs in action, and tidbits of technical information (Terrier Tech) and facts (Jack Fact). A book for people who want to excel at JRT ownership.

I have read quite a few Jack Russell books and this is very informative and very well written I would recommend this book highly, especially to someone interested in Jack Russells it explains a lot about the breed, showing, feeding, training and just understanding these special dogs. I can do a passable paint job- but this book helps me assess color and patterns, select type of paint and tools specific to the job, prepare the surfaces and apply the paint. It even guides me through complicated patterns and uses I wouldn't have contemplated at all, without a clear guide. This book takes you through it all with clear advice, excellent step-by-step color photographs. You'll save lots of money and time, and best of all, get easy-to-follow advice to do it right the first time.

the difinative source book.......2000-06-24
This book is great not only for someone who is just getting started in decorating but, also for the professional as a referance. It is broken down into six basic catagories; Style guide, Fabrics. Wallpapers, Paints and Finishes, Tiles, and Flooring. Judith Miller does an excellent job of giving a wealth of information about not only different periods but also what textiles lend themselves to these periods. I was not to impressed with the paints and finishes section however. I really liked the organization by image (ie fabrics with flowers) and style period rather than fabric type or colors. The variety is amazing. The best part of the book is that she gives you the info to find all of the textiles! Including the maker, if other colors are available, and estimated price. This is great, other style books generally do not give you half of the wealth of information that is book does. I couldn't wait to get started.

Based on the pedigree of the authors and price of the book I expected more information. Is there need for another introduction to acoustics?
The sections on Tools and Examples did not provide enough information for me. In some ways these chapters read like an article written in a trade maagzine. IE,'.. the facility had this issue ___, we did ___ and everyone is happy now....'
I hoped to find more detail on the analyses of an acoustical problem, and detail on why and how a solution was determined.
So if this is a single text introduction to architectural acoustics it's OK. I think Architectural Acoustics by Mehta, Johnson & Rocafort, Marshall Long (see my review), or Acoustics and Noise Control for Architects and Builders by Irvine and Richards are more informative and a better value.
A basic acoustic introduction.......2001-01-01
This book is easy to read with many practical examples described in simple basic acoustical or structural terms. It is a very good place to start for those who are just beginning but for those with experience or previous training it offers little technical or detailed information nor acoustical equations. As a basic overview it is fine and the resource section is very useful.
