Only book out of 3 others that mention heartworm in cats.......2007-09-13
I purchased this book along with 3 others to educate myself as to various diets and medical care of my pets. I found this one so far to list anything about heartworms in cats. I live in Oklahoma and we have a lot of mosquitoes and have had 2 dogs that contracted heartworm but we've never had a cat contract it and we've had cats live to be 14, 16, and 20 years. I had my suspicions about the necessity of giving heartworm medication to a cat and Dr. Hamilton pretty well answered my questions about it in two sentences on page 332, "This is a serious disease that primarily affects dogs (it is rare in cats, despite claims by the preventive manufacturers)." and, "I do not recommend their use (preventives) in cats, as the incidence does not warrant the drug use in my opinion." Overall, I found it's a very professional yet understandable book for those of us who wish to take care of our beloved pets through more natural means.

Book looks brand new. I have 4 dogs and 1 cat, so this book is perfect! Plus it is simple and easy to understand. I highly recommend it. Now I am trying to get the remedies recommended in the book so I will have them - on hand - should they be needed! Very highly recommended for folks who cannot afford to run their pets to the vet constantly!

After buying four Hans Wegner chairs, I wanted to learn more about these chairs and similar furniture. This book has been a wonderful, educational find. It is simply organized into sections with interesting introductions and has nice black-and-white photographs of the furniture. Each picture lists the name of the designer, his/her country or origin, and the year the piece was designed. This makes it easy to compare designers of the same period working in different countries, or comparing a designer's earlier and later pieces. We have enjoyed spending time becoming acquainted with the masters of mid-century furniture design.
One complaint I have about the book is that it lists the values of each piece of furniture. This is a somewhat fruitless endeavor since values are so relative--changing monthly or even daily, especially as you search in different parts of the country, or world.
But, this book is a lot of fun for those who are interested in learning more about modern furniture. And, by the way, I did find my chairs in the book!

THE BOOK WAS FULL OF VERY USEFULL INFORMATION. VERY EASY TO READ AND FOLLOW THE CANDLE MAKING INSTRUCTIONS. IT WAS VERY DISSAPOINTING THAT NONE OF THE PICTURES WHERE IN COLOR. THEY WERE ALL BLACK AND WHITE. IT IS KIND OF HARD TO SEE WHAT THE CANDLE IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE WITH BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOS. I CHECKED OUT AN OLDER ADDITION OF THE BOOK FROM THE LIBRARY...AND THAT ONE HAD FULL COLOR PHOTOS. IT LOOKED AS IF SOMEONE MADE PHOTO COPIES OF THE BOOK AND SOLD IT AT AMAZON.

Don't let the title mislead you.......2002-12-20
The title of this book suggests that it is directed towards the crafter just starting out, but the wholesale trade shows it focuses on are out of reach for me. I recommend it for anyone interested in mass production for wholesale buyers, but if beginning crafteres are anything like me, shows like this are completely out of reach at this point. I was hoping for a book that would help with the issues I'm dealing with on a day to day baisis - like trying to start my business from scratch with no capital except from pieces I sell here and there; most of which must go into supplies for the next piece I'll sell, business cards, a good camera . . . etc. It's a bit outdated as well, and someone should inform the author that some of us do in fact remember macrame. (like the millions of hemp artists out there)

This is by far the best book I've seen yet about how to succeed in the craft business. Caputo is a very good writer. This book is easy reading, so I was actually able to read it cover to cover (and enjoy it!).
It covers everything from market research, to show displays, to salesmanship. Very thorough and extremely helpful. My business is doing a lot better due to this book. If you are in the craft business, I'd highly recommend that you read this one!
A Great Starter for Crafters Who Don't Know Where to Begin.......2000-03-28
As someone who is just starting out in the craft business, I can affirm that this book is a wonderful guide. If you are like me, you have always loved crafts, and most likely would never have started your own business if the product had been anything else. The business and marketing side can be scary to someone who has never done it before, not to mention more than a little confusing. I highly recommend this book as a follow up to Kathryn's other book, How to Start Making Money With Your Crafts, and as a precursor to some of the longer and more involved craft business books out there.
In her first book, Kathryn helps you develop and focus your product line. In this one, she takes your finished product and helps you market and support it. I found the chapters on market research, display construction, and salesmanship the most helpful of all. With pictures of real displays and selling environments on almost every page, the reader cannot help but come away with a bounty of ideas and plans for their own display.
Besides being informative, this book is easy to read and gives multiple real-life experiences in order to better connect to the reader. Both this and Kathryn's other book have really broken down the craft world for me, making it feel much clearer and giving me a real sense of control over my own success.

I make candles and export them for a living. I read a lot of wax candle and gel candle making books ... ! It doesn't fit for anyone one at all, be it an amateur or an intermediate level crafter. Believe me, it's best for you to avoid buying this book. It's not worth your money and time reading.

I was very disappointed with this book....I saw it listed on the Internet and it was recommended by some of the web sights. The information in this book is on the Internet and the projects are not that great or challenging. The book has eight pages of color picture. I checked many of the suppliers listed in the back of the book and quite a few no longer have web pages. I truly expected more from this book based on all of the hype. I feel your money would be better spent on another book.

I was expecting more detailed step by step instructions & full of color photos with lots of inspirations. But instead, most of the info. from the book are knowledge you can get FREE from websites that sell gel candle supplies. There are only a few pages of gel candle examples & they are not too impressive.
The only good thing about the book is that the author has included resource of different suppliers.

I got really excited when i bought this book, but when i received it i got really disappointed of my purchase, i thought it would be a full colored book, with a lot of pictures to help you and give you some project ideas, but it has just a few of them and has about 10 pictures of candles that are not so amazing, i think you should get another book if you want some ideas for gel candlemaking

This little book is a wonderful time saver! There is just so much incredibly useful information packed into such a small package. It saves so much time and research in finding sources for all of the various supplies (containers, wax, embeds, etc.) Plus, it has great color pictures and lots of different project suggestions, resources, links and marketing assistance. It will get your imagination going non-stop and really motivate you to get started immediately.

No words could elaborate as to how poor this book is. Don't be fooled by the title like I did. It's simply a tool to promote the author's website (which is as poor as the book is).
In general, the book has no inspiring color photos. Way too simple, common-sense, basic information even for an amateur. If you're looking to learn how to make AND market gel candles like wildfire.... this is simply NOT the book.

The book answers all questions on gel candle making and is a great source for suppliers. My daughter and I have made dozens of candles thanks to the book's easy how to (and how don't to) directions. I recently bought the paperback book. What a delight! If you want to see gel candles in color, buy the paperback.
Disapointed!.......2001-03-29
After going over this book I realized that I could find the same information on line. The main reason I bought this book was to find out where I could get my supplies. What I found was the authors website. I checked out a lot of the suppliers listed, and most of them only supplied businesses. Very few would sell supplies to individuals, and they were Expensive!! Another reason I bought it was to do some trouble shooting. They had some helpful tips, but I later found the same information on line also. I wanted to get some good ideas by looking at pictures. Big disapointment!! There pictures were in black and white and hard to see. I would recommend getting another book!!

If people only knew that the sleep environment is the key to good sleep, most sleep difficulties would vanish. And this is the focus the book takes. Everything from actually trying out a mattress before you buy to the big importance of quality bed linens. Cheap sheets or pillows or even poor window covering just do not make for a good sleep. The author also discusses what not to do or have in ones bedroom be it light that disrupts sleep or some electronic equipment.
We know that once the TV and lit clock left the room and black out shades that kept outdoors light out were installed that sleeping thru the night became a reality and we actually look forward to going to bed for the needed amount of sleep.
Great ideas for creating bedroom retreats.......2001-07-23
This is a fantastic book for anyone looking for great ideas on decorating their bedroom and creating a special retreat. There are a wide variety styles from soft, simple and peaceful to eclectic and packed with books and art.
The book starts out with hints on choosing linens and the right mattress as well as keeping them in good shape. It also offers ideas for headboards and advice on choosing furniture. Feng Shui notes and secrets for getting a better nights rest are included here as well. There is even a section on using color.
This book not only covers bedroom basics, it also covers bedrooms as retreats and places for relaxing or taking a nap. I absolutely love the idea of creating a retreat in a tent. I also liked the sunny bedrooms with large windows and skylights. The pictures included are large and numerous with captions describing their details.
A list of architects and designers with contact information is included in the back. The other books in the spaces series are also very good. Looking at this book is a great way to find ideas suitable to your personal taste, no matter what it may be.

This author was on Oprah recently and was excellent. THe book is full of information and big, dreamy pictures or bedrooms. THe concepts of what your body needs for restful sleep are fascinating & effective!
