Book Description
Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water! The second astonishing ENCYCLOPEDIA PREHISTORICA book from Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart is about to pop up everywhere.
While dinosaurs patrolled the lands, massive prehistoric sharks, giant scorpions, and colossal squid cruised the ancient oceans - most with just one thing in mind: eat or be eaten. In this companion volume to the best-selling ENCYCLOPEDIA PREHISTORICA: DINOSAURS, pop-up masters Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart explore the prehistoric underwater world, where monsters like megalodon ruled the waves.
Full of captivating facts and more than 35 breathtaking pop-ups, this incredible volume is sure to astonish and amaze everyone from budding marine biologists to confirmed landlubbers. After all, if prehistoric coelacanths and crocodiles are still around, what else might be lurking in today's largely unexplored oceans?

Absolutely gorgeous and intriguing pop-ups. Good information about the sharks and sea monsters. I love all things by Robert Sabuda. Good for kids 4 and older.
Encyclopedia Prehistorica: Sharks and Other Sea Monsters.......2007-08-25
This is an awesome pop up book! I bought it for my 3 year old's B-Day. He loves looking at the book while I read to him about the prehistoric Mega-Beasts. I actually have learned a lot myself from this book. Although you would normally think this book is for boys. My six year old daughter also enjoys me reading these books to her. They are fun and very educational. I am a high school teacher and I really think this pop up book would be very valuable to any science classroom. I liked this book so much I also purchased the other two in the set!
Excellent pop up book, reading is complicated.......2007-08-16
Cool book. Reading is over the age category of my daughters, but they simply enjoy the pop ups.
Absolutely amazing!!!.......2007-08-13
This book is unbelievable! The attention to detail is fantastic. Absolute value for money and a must for any child who is as taken with sharks dinosaurs as my son is.
Encyclopedia Prehistorica: Sharks and Other Sea Monsters.......2007-08-12
Robert Sabuda always does a fantastic job and this is just another example of an exciting, educational pop-up book.

Customer Reviews:
Inaccurate information.......2007-07-31
At first glance this book seems to be a great overview of sharks with lots of great pictures. However, it does give some inaccurate information. In chapter 4 they discuss shark hearing and claim that they have otoliths, when in fact they do not. Otoliths, which sense vibrations and pressure changes are only found in ostyichthes (bony fish), not elasmobranches (sharks, skates, and rays). I haven't read cover to cover, but who knows what else could be inaccurate...
Not What I Expected.......2004-09-15
I have to say, I was a bit dissapointed when I got this book. The book consists of the characteristics of sharks IN GENERAL. Unfortunately, not all sharks are the same, so a lot is left out. The pictures are at best average, and are mainly of sharks that you could see at Ripley's aquarium. This book DOES NOT describe the different kinds of sharks. It is a basic, vague overview of sharks. If you would like a book that describes the different kinds of sharks and has better pictures, I suggest a book called "Sharks". It is also published by Firefly books and is probably more of what you are looking for.
A Great Book on Sharks.......2002-05-15
This book is great, you can ask relatives and friends, I know a lot about sharks, and every time I read this book, I learn even more!!!!!
Encyclopedia of Sharks.......2000-03-31
The book is wonderful. The binding is the problem. The slick pages causes the binding to break. So if this is for a library you might want to consider another book.
Great Book.......2000-03-12
This is a very good book. It contains lots of color photographs and has some great information. It provides a general insight to the anatomy of the shark, our relationships with them, the classification of all of the shark species, and some handy info on where you can best find sharks in the wild. The book lacked some of the more indepth information that i was looking for, being a more general introduction to sharks rather than a more detailed book. However, what you are looking for in a shark book may be different from what i was, and this book would suit your needs well. I would highly recommend it too any person who is just getting in to sharks (well worth your money), but for other people who already know more than the general info about sharks, there are better books out there. Your money would not be poorly spent, as this is a good book for all, but there are more informational books (Sharks in Question is one of the best i have read).

Buy if you HAVE to........1999-07-31
All in all, this book was just plain good. I was disappointed with it though. The prices were very inaccurate for the time. I urge you to look at other books.
As a beginning beaniologist, this was a great first read.........1998-07-09
While it is impossible to keep prices current, as a starter beanie collector, I found this guide a useful resource. I still refer to it as I make my way through the mountain of plush with beans out there. I'm happy with it.. though the picture quality for some of the beanies could have been significantly improved.. Its worth the $15 I paid. (:o)
quality of pictures poor.......1998-06-28
Frankly, I was disappointed in this book. It has some good information, but the quality of the pictures is very poor. Many of them are out of focus or too far away and look very amateurish. Also, the prices for the Beanies seem out of date. I wish I could get Righty for $110.00.
cool cool!.......1998-06-26
It has every thing you want.even prices.
Good Information, but..........1998-06-20
The books is a must for the beginning bean bag collector. Who knew there were so many different versions of the little bean filled critters?! For anyone curious about what's out there, and what to look for, this book is great. It could have done without the price guides, though. Since it's so hard to keep price guides current, it could confuse the begining collector. Keep in mind, these "going prices" Brecka refers to are the "going prices" when she wrote the book, not what they are now. She ought to have left the prices guides for the monthly magazines. Another thing, there is almost TOO much detailed information about the Ty Beanie Babies. Though they may be the hottest items in the book now, do they really deserve sixty-five pages when the other brands only get one or two at the most? Pictures and names would have probably been enough. Still, I think these book is worth a read.

Book Description
This book helps woodworkers, hobbyists and home improvement enthusiasts convert the unused areas in their homes into useful storage spaces--for example, by turning a cluttered closet into a built-in bookcase. There are 10 creative projects in all, each one made with basic woodworking techniques and a minimal number of tools. Step-by-step photos and instructions accompany every project, including a built-in display case, a three-sided curio hutch, a built-in bookcase, a grandfather clock, a three-piece sectional entertainment center and more!
Book Description
From apartment dwellers to mansion owners, we all could use a little more storage. Fortunately, because storage systems and solutions have come a long way in the past few years, there’s an answer to almost every problem—and it’s right in here. With the cleverness you’d expect from any House Beautiful Workshop guide, it tackles all the general issues before moving into each individual room and examining what works with various design styles and lifestyles. Of course, attractive photos illustrate and clarify every point throughout. There’s advice on getting started, taking control, assessing needs, putting everything in its place, and taking advantage of underused niches and architectural features, plus original ideas for displaying or concealing the stuff we accumulate.

"Storage," declares this gorgeously photographed book, "is about hiding things, or showing them off.... For storage is essentially a matter of what you have, where you use it, and where you want it kept. Any box can hide things, but one that conceals while beguiling the eye has more flair." In other words, don't just bemoan your lack of closet space, set to work on finding innovative approaches to hiding things in plain sight. In a room-by-room approach, this volume ventures far beyond the ordinary solutions frequently offered, instead showcasing stunning rooms decorated by noted designers, with the accent on elegant storage ideas. As the photos demonstrate, storage itself can bring interesting pattern and color into a room. The ideas here certainly have flair, from a Parisian library with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves to camouflaged custom cabinetry that maximizes very limited space to hand-painted bureaus to a witty shelf made of wooden thread spools. The presentation is high-end but it doesn't necessarily take a professional designer or a lot of money to recognize the myriad of great ideas here. Even diehard packrats and confirmed clutterholics should enjoy leafing through the enticing images and may even be inspired to impose some stylish order on their own assorted belongings. --Amy Handy

Yes, it is pretty. So what?.......2002-12-08
My purpose in buying this book was to inspire me, not to tell me exactly where to hang a shelf. If you want step by step instructions, obviously, this is not the book for you. However, if you enjoy interior decoration as an art form or an outlet for creativity, or, yes, to look at pretty pictures, you will enjoy this book.
If you have a budget, don't blow it on this book.......1999-04-20
This is a beautiful book. That's where it's usefulness ends. It will look lovely sitting on your coffee table. That's where it will stay too because it's useless if you have any kind of monetary restrictions. If you are looking to build your dream house from scratch, go for it. If you want practical ways to use the space that you already have, skip this book. Use the $25 to buy a shelf!!
