Loved it, but knew what to expect.......2007-06-09
I did totally love this book, and had trouble putting it down. That being said - this is not a care guide, and is basically just a book of "fun facts". A lot if the information is common knowlege to anyone who has kept snakes for any length of time, and I didn't learn anything of real particular use in it, but it was fun to read. But then again, I wasn't really looking to find "that gerat lost secret that nobody else has ever known". If you are very new to snakes, or are interested in learning about snakes, or interested in someday purchasing your first snake it would probably be more informative - but is still basically just a fun read, and just has fun facts and tidbits.

While the format is cute, and it contains some interesting (but questionable) anecdotes, I feel that the author should have enlisted someone in the herp field to help her write this book. The "secrets" aren't really "secret" to many of us who have been keeping snakes for even a little while. The insertion of lizard material just makes it all the more random and disjointed.
Such basic information is better written in a more organized and instructional format to teach the beginner.
Cute but not a Care Guide.......2005-08-02
If you want a cute book to read for entertainment and/or trivia this book is pretty good. If you are looking for a cae guide for your herps, this is not the book. I enjoyed parts of it but was expecting more health tips.
Entertaining, and Cute.......2005-03-24
This book isn't going to help you if you have problems. It won't reveal anything vitally important about the care and maintenance of your herp. But, it is a cute little book, and fun to page through if you're looking for esoteric knowledge. From the title, I really was expecting something more ... useful to a keeper, but for a collection of reptile trivia, it's pretty good.
A Must Have Book!!!!!!.......2003-01-20
I own the Book "277 Secrets Your Snake (and Lizard) Wants You to Know. Unusual and Useful Information for Snake Owners and Snake Lovers." by Paulette Cooper. It is by far the best book I have ever read. I have gotten to understand much much more of the snake world just by reading the first 100 pages out of 181 pages. Its not your regular factual/formal book it isn't that formal at all, it is clearly stated in the book. There are interesting facts, stories that you'll have to read to believe, and extremely useful information for snake owners all over the globe.
So instead of doing hours of research online just to find a simple answer to a simple question, just order the book, check the index and find what your looking for. This wonderful book has helped me in ways I can't even try to explain, all I know is that ever since I read the first page of that book, my pet corn snake (Buddy) and hognose snake (Cobra) have been living the good life.

The book to track down all of your favorite team's cards.......2001-12-29
Obliviously a "Team Baseball Card Checklist" is going to be useful to those of us who are trying to collect all of the baseball cards for our favorite team. I now have less than 10 cards to go to have all of the Topps New York Yankees from the beginning of the baseball card universe and am now working on Bowman cards as well. This book covers everything out there from the old Tobacco cards to Goudey and Play Ball, Fleer and Donruss, Sportsflics and Upper Deck, and on and on. It will definitely help you know what to look for and even tells you when the front of the card has a player with Team A and the back has the player with Team B. Then you can decide if you have to have it for your collection or not.
I also use this book to help me with my completed sets, because what I do with each year's Topps cards is to arrange them in the binder to reflect what happened that year starting with the World Series cards with the cards for the World Champions followed by the rest of the teams in that league/division in the order they finished. I do the same thing for the other league, putting All-Star Cards in-between and the Rookie/Update cards at the end. Of course, with all the sub-sets within a set that they have today there are other options so one of the liabilities of this book is that it does not list all the non-team cards that are with a set. To track down those you need a more traditional checklist if you are trying to put together a complete set.
Be forewarned that you might find an omission or two here and there, so this book is not exactly perfect. But while I did spend one night trying to figure out what one card from the 1968 Topps set I was missing (Ray Oyler) it did let me know that #259 Sparky Lyle and #676 Danny Cater both appear as Red Sox and neither is a Yankee in the 1972 Topps set because they were traded for each other. On balance, I have found this a useful book and take it to every sports card show I attend.

THIS IS A BOOK COVERING THE INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS WHO HELPED WIN THE 1982 WORLD SERIES. IT HAS SOME NICE INTERVIEWS WITH WHITEY AND THE GANG. A MUST FOR ALL CARDINAL FANS.

I have been looking for a book like this for years, and finally found it. It gives you the card numbers for each years team sets. I hope they will publish one that will update the years for us. This one only goes up to 1996. This book is worth every penny and more. If you have alot of common cards....this is to book to get to make them into team sets!

As a long-time collector of sports memorabilia, which has to include the New York Yankees, this is a superb book for beginners and experts. While would be virtually impossible to cover the long history of the Yankees in one book, this one does an excellent job. The articles on various aspects of collecting Yankees memorabilia are very thorough and will give anyone much needed direction on how they should proceed with their interests in this team. Wish they could have had more on the earlier memorabilia (pre 1970s) but it does have to be compelete through the years. This should be on the top of any sports memorabilia collectors "want list".

Beautiful pictures, solid information for quilters. Dependable information. Quilting is to Art what playing the cello is to playing the trumpet. Very, very different. This book is about the use of color in quilting. I like the chapter on one color quilts and two color quilts. This sort of thing is never found in Art books. Strongly reccomend this book for your reference shelf.

I highly recommend this book for Philadelphians who love to eat out but don't have the budget to match their good taste. Similar to Zagats but with less pretension, it is full of great synopses of restaurants throughout the city arranged by cuisine and neighborhood. Brief, yet thoughtful reviews definitely help with the question, "Where do you want to go for dinner?" My only complaint is that is is not quite as well organized and comprehensive as Zagat's Philadelphia.

This is the most intelligent, comprehensive and useful guidebook to Philadelphia dining that I have ever seen. It is honest and on the money, and it has certainly saved me from dining disasters, and introduced me to some of the best dining in the city. Most importantly, it is laid out in a fashion that makes it super-easy to use.
