This cookbook should be a coffeetable book except for the amazing and easy to follow recipes inside. There are beautiful pictures and just about anyone could follow and accomplish extraordinary results from the pages of this book. A friend of mine gave it as a gift to her 20 year old daughter and the rest of us ran out to buy it right after. You will not be sorry for adding this one to your collection.

I love cookbooks, and was given this book as a gift by my company as a thank you for overseeing the company Christmas Party. I immediately fell in love with it. It's the one book, you don't want to live without. I use it time and time again all through the year. It has fabulous recipes. They are easy enough for the whole family to be involved in. It's very well written, and has a huge selection of recipes to pick from, of all variety. It makes a perfect gift for someone also!!!
You Don't Have to Wait till Christmas to Enjoy this Book.......2005-10-06
I know it's only October (it's October 5 as I write this) but somehow October for me is the beginning of the holiday season, first Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then, of course, Christmas and the New Year. So feeling all holiday like and all, I went to my stash of cookbooks and pulled out GIFTS FROM THE CHRISTMAS KITCHEN because though this book is and was meant to be about goodies you can make in your kitchen and give as a gift on that special day, you can also turn to it for better than excellent deserts, coffee cakes, muffins, scones and so much more.
Last night I made the delicious Black Russian Truffles from the recipe on page 326 and let me tell you these babies melt in your mouth. They are just oh so good. And what a nice surprise to the end of a meal, I mean anybody can go the market and pick up a tub of rocky road, that doesn't tell whoever you're making dinner for that he's special, but these truffles sure do. This book would be a very nice addition to anybody's cookbook library and if you get can't think of that special gift, it's a good place to turn.

My copy of this book is dog-eared, wrinkled and caked with flour, sugar and many other splatterings. If you can follow a recipe (written in an easy to understand manner), you can be the star of any get-together... and not just during Christmas! I have tried almost every recipe in this book and in its' partner book, "Best Loved Holiday Recipes", and every single time my finished product looked as good, if not better, than the picture in the book. If you're looking for tried and true WONDERFUL recipes for years to come, buy these books. They're the best cookbooks I've ever had!

The recipes are great. I like the idea of the vanilla powder, which I had never heard of before. I also love all the little hints for presentation which are found throughout the book. Great way to make affordable gifts for teachers, neighbors and friends.

This is one of the best cookbooks I own. My husband is a very picky eater and usually I can use just a few recipes from the whole cookbook, but this one clearly stands out. When just browsing through it for the first time, it made my mouth water and I just couldn't wait to make all these goodies.
The recipes are not intimidating and they do not require lots of hard-to-find expensive gourmet products. Some recipes are accompanied by step-by-step instructions, which I especially like.
This book is out of print, so hurry and buy one on Amazon Marketplace. Mine was listed as used, but it was in a perfect condition and at just 3$ it's a steal! Did I mention it is beautifully printed too?
Lovely& Practical Large Format Holiday Cookbook.......2003-08-29
This is a really lovely large format book for holiday baking, entertaining, and gifts from the kitchen. It has little, or perhaps no, redundancy from Bon Appetit magazine, so there is plenty for subscribers and non-subscribers to enjoy. The book has 17 chapters. Four chapters address one entire holiday feast each, with each meal in a different style. Five chapters provide recipes especially suited for other holiday season festivities such as a tree-trimming supper, a dessert buffet, a cocktail party, and an open house. Other chapters are dedicated to specific types of food, rather than entire meals. These include chapters on: breads, cookies and cranberry sauces as well as Christmas puddings, a buche de noel, an elaborate chocolate cake, and a croquembouche, whose chapters include step-by-step illustrated instructions on how to construct these holiday masterpieces. The "Gifts from the Kitchen" chapter offers an array of 22 recipes for cookies, candies, sauces, jams, breads and more that are easy to make and sure to impress. Every recipe isn't accompanied by a photograph, but there are many large color photos throughout the book. The paper is also of very nice quality. "Bon Appetit Christmas" is a worthy addition to the library of any cook and makes a lovely gift for those who like to bake or entertain.

I am a woodworker by hobby and would like to incorporate design elements from 15th-through-17th century French furniture into my projects. This book is a great source for ideas as well as actual details were I to try a reproduction. The proportions, designs, and dimensions are clearly depicted. The pictures are black and white which is why I'm only giving it four stars.

I loved the hand sewing tips and advice in this book. I used this book with John Flynn's Double Wedding Rings (his pattern varies and has less pieces in the archs - we're learning, less pieces are best at this time) and we are having great results. Good reference.
Looks hard, it's not!.......2001-05-22
As a beginner I thought that the double wedding ring quilt would be hard, not with this book. It has wonderful, easy to follow templates that are plastic so they won't get ruined after one use. The price was amazing too. I highly reccomend this book for beginners!
