What kind of parents?.......2007-02-10
I purchased this cookbook because I have a young child and a picky husband. I was thrilled to find something I could use so dinner time and bedtime were a ways apart. Well, when I got this book, I was very disappointed. I cannot pronounce half of the ingredients and what I can pronounce, I cannot afford to purchase. Aparantly, working parents means doctors and lawyers who have kids. Because no one in my income bracket could ever use these recipes. Plus the recipes I thought I might be able to pull off, both of my eaters turned their nose just to the name and what it was. To me, that's not very kid friendly.
My All Time Favorite.......2006-11-18
I LOVE this cookbook. I'm a very amateur, medium-confidence cook, and this book is right at my speed. Many of the dinners take an hour or so to put together, but that is the price of fresh food. If I were willing to eat Tuna Helper then I could indeed put together meals more quickly, but these are great recipes, great flavors. Recipes we've tried that we love are: Split Pea Soup, Basic Roast Chicken, Lentil Soup, Next Day Chicken Soup, Stevie Weevie's Waffles. My kids aren't wild about many of the recipes, but they are mainly bread-and-cheese kinds of kids anyway. I still prepare and present these good recipes and they are starting to try more.
Title is a misnomer.......2004-11-11
This is good as a general-purpose cookbook, with interesting foods using fresh ingredients. However, we found most recipes too complex to do on a hectic worknight with hungry kids underfoot. The end results were tasty for parents but again the complexity of the dishes turned off our picky eaters (ages 2 and 5). I'm setting this one aside for a couple of years; it may go better with older kids.

This is a well thought out book. The authors have made preparing tasty and healthy food a breeze. The recipies include prep and cooking times, and there are menus for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The lemon and rosemary pasta was a hit with both my hubby and 2 year old and took only 10 minutes to prepare! I highly recommend.

Easy enough for work nights, good enough for company..........2000-08-18
I've found recipes in this cookbook that are interesting and impressive enough for dinner parties, yet designed for weeknight budgets and schedules. There's a fairly broad range of flavors here, too -- Chinese, Mediterranean, a bit of Tex-Mex, but nothing too exotic for a picky eight-year-old.
There are photographs of every recipe, which is helpful, especially when making a dish for the first time.
I don't find the shopping lists as useful as some readers have, mostly because they don't specify quantities, and the binding of the paperback edition isn't made to stand up to long, hard use.
But those are minor quibbles with an otherwise excellent cookbook.
Great for a working mom of 2.......2000-02-23
This was the first cookbook I'd found that had really good recipes that everyone in the family enjoys and uses ingredients that I usually have in my pantry. And if I don't have an ingredient already, there are convenient shopping lists and even a guide that pairs up main dishes with sides and desserts. I've actually had this cookbook for years and was looking to see if the author had anything new out and was stunned that no one had written anything about this book yet. Big favorites are the Sherry marinated pork chops and the oven deviled chicken. Even my mother wanted to know where I'd gotten the recipes for these two! Bottom line- very tasty recipes served up in an easy to follow format using what most people have on hand or can easily find at the local store.

A nice mix of types of cuisine, mainly healthy recipes, not boring or always consisting of cans of Campbells soup to give flavor. We liked the pasta and bean soup recipe. Also liked the mix of slow-cooker, make ahead and meals in less than 30 minutes.
How to be a working mom's best friend..........2004-01-01
Making dinner during the week has been my wife's biggest complaint for years. These meals don't take long to make plus our kids liked them. Giving her this cookbook, one of those robotic vaccuums and the book Prayers for the Working Mom have turned me into my wife's new best friend!

Excellent Value Guide-Very thorough, Great color pictures!.......1998-08-24
What luck to run accross this wonderful guide the first time searching for such a book. This is a very large book, with color pictures of all type of McDonald's collectibles-in addition to all the happy meal toys. It also provides a facinating history of how the business got started along with pictures of the founders and the 1st restaurants, also included are pictures and values of memorabilia such as uniforms, paper french fry bags and the large ride on toys and Ronald figures used inside the restaurants. This books gets a A+ from me.

An outstanding modern colombian architect that is able to grasp the very best of Colombia and its materials. A book with amazing photography and colour, highly shows Restrepo's achievements. Minimalistic in a way, rustic in others, Restrepo's sense of space is truly amazing. Truly a modern Latin American architect, well respected and talented. A must!
