Good but not a complete guide.......2007-10-05
This is a lovely book, but it is not a substitute for a good field guide. It isn't meant to be carried around. It lacks a key to help identify mushrooms. It include separate chapters on edible and poisonous mushrooms . . . which means a lot of paging through to attempt an identification.
Also, the book is from the UK, and the recipe section at the end has a UK slant. It also lists a few ingredients under the name used in England: aubergines, etc.
Very enjoyable, but foraging on your own is still risky.......2007-08-20
[Review written Apr 2005]
This is a nice book that offers an overview of the many varieties of edible, and not-so-edible mushrooms. The photos are excellent, and there's a decent section in the back on mushroom handling and recipes.
HOWEVER, contrary to what the cover implies, there isn't really enough information present for people to just read this book and then expect to be able to go traipsing off into the woods for some impromptu mushroom picking with any degree of confidence. Not recommended !
People should only pick wild mushrooms if they truly know what they're doing - or better still, go in the company of a trained expert (mycologist) who knows what they're doing.
All it takes is a search of the internet, a flip through the phone book, or perhaps a few phonecalls to areas colleges or culinary clubs, in order to find the name of a local mushroom expert who's willing to take people on picking forays.
In any case, this is still an enjoyable book, and if nothing else it'll whet your appetite for dishes like risotto w/porchini, cream of mushroom soup, etc.
WONDERFUL.......2003-05-13
This is only book that mushroom lovers need. It has over SIX HUNDREDED fully colored AMAZING photos!! The chapters are organized beautifuly as well. It goes from propper tools needed and locations of mushrooms, to storing and drying mushrooms. Then there are the two glorious sections of edible and posionious mushrooms. Then the final section is the cook book! It has sections for "wild mushroom breakfast", "soups, starters and salads", "poultry and game dishes","beef pork and lamb", "fish and shellfish", and "vegitarian dishes". Each section has well over 20 fully pictured recipies! Then it concludes with a glossary at the end of the book. What a wonderful book! It is excellent for and artist referrence book as well!!

Major topics range from Accessories, Banks, Books, Ceramics to Playsets, Dolls, Holidays and Music Boxes. Each photo includes the date, maker and value. Great Raggedy identification guide........1999-07-31
This is a great identification guide if you are interested in finding out more information about your dolls. This book goes into detail about the years each doll was issued and the country or company that made the doll. The book also is a good reference for accessories, books, games and toys, and holiday or birthday items. I have used this book so much for refenence that it is literally falling apart. I have ordered a second one for my reference library. The prices are realistic for the secondary market. I would also highly recommend Joyce Gerardi Rinehart's "Wonderful Raggedy Anns." In addition, I understand that Jan Lindenberger has just released an updated version of her "Raggedy Ann & Andy Collectibles" book. The first edition was a great reference and I look forward to reviewing her updated version as well. I am sure if you purchase this book you will enjoy it and you will want to identify each of your dolls.

great book - the man is talented and the best.......2007-05-14
I heard this man speak and HAD to have his book. Well worth it!!!
True floral magic.......2007-03-31
Because this book is so beautiful it is truly inspiring. Morgan is a true artist. The photographs are lovely depicting unusual, elegant and even a few quite simple designs. It's a must for floral arrangers.
In The Company of Flowers.......2007-01-10
The pictures and arrangements in this book rate 5 stars. What was disappointing was that there were not even hints about how to put some of the arrangements together. In addition, some of the floral material was not identified correctly or completely.
Let Your Imagination Lead You!!!.......2006-11-10
Mr. Morgan certainly does!!! Color, creativity, shape, style, and talent all should be associated with Mr. Morgan. His ability in floral design is exquisite and his imagination has no boundaries. He has an uncanny eye for the beautiful and the imaginative. Did I get anything out of this book, a lesson in style and class, and just how beautiful you can make ordinary things. Mr. Morgan taught me there is no end to majestry in floral design and I will look forward to future publications. His artistry is superb and he is truly working in his calling. Congratulations Mr. Morgan for thrilling me to no end with your beautiful work and art.
Sincerely,
Deborah Loisel
Addressing Flowers.......2006-10-03
Ron Morgan is an artist, an assemblage artist, who substitutes paint brushes and oils and canvases with living flowers and the components of still life. In this magnificently illustrated book Morgan shares his famous skills in the most congenial way, allowing us as viewer to appreciate his artworks by sharing the materials with which he works.
Not that this art book is a 'how to do it' format: Morgan is far more sophisticated a writer than that! He simply shows us how containers and accoutrements blend with the vivid and inspiring colors, shapes and forms of his floral choices into making creations for the table, or mantle or any spot both explosions of celebration or contemplative altars.
The photography in this book is the other half of what makes it work so well, and that aspect is in the competent and sensitive hands (and eyes) of Keith Lewis. Together these two artists demonstrate how to create beauty from both mundane tools as well as from exotic containers. This is a feast for the eye as well as an addition to the library for those who have a special concern for presentation at the table! Grady Harp, October 06

This book is a waste of money.......2007-09-09
I purchased this book a few years ago and got "sucked into" purchasing a blueprint. The "plans" are sketches of mature yards, and the "plan view" doesn't really help as far as knowing what plants to use. What ends up happening is you spend more money on the blueprints. THEN when you get the blueprints, the plants "recommended" for your region aren't easy to obtain!
Blueprints in hand, I visited a local nursery and struck out with many of the plants recommended.
Don't waste your money, hoping that for $11 you'll get a useful landscape plan.
CAN YOU SAY RIPOFF?.......2000-08-29
A quick glance through this book at the home and garden store promised many detailed designs. Upon close examination, however, it became clear that this book is nothing more than a glossy come-on, requiring you to sink another fifteen bucks PER DESIGN for a plant list specific to your locale. Don't waste your money on this one.
beds and borders.......2000-02-05
The detail on structuring the garden (balance, colors, form, etc.)is excellent, especially for someone who has already tried to create a professional-looking landscape but didn't have all the info!)
Disappointing.......1999-06-15
This book is nothing more than an attempt to get you to buy their landscape blueprints. It is actually put out by Home Planners. Not very up front about this fact on the cover though
Customer Reviews:
I liked it but there was too much business talk........1998-02-13
There were alot of interesting facts about Disney and how it was given new life by Eisner and his team. However, this book spent too much time talking about the business deals of the Walt Disney Company. The author should have spent more time on what was done rather than how it was done. I hope the author considers writing a revision of this book so that it will be more up-to-date. Anyway, it was alot of fun to read, so thumbs up!
A fun summary of how the Disney empire moved into the 90's........1997-01-19
A very interesting and entertaining perspective of how the Disney company made its transition into the 90's after having spent almost 15 years trying to recover from, and find it's way after, the loss of both Walt and Roy Disney. This book picks up where others leave off, several years after Walt Disney's death. Subjects include: changes and personalities involved in the struggle to carry the company with only Roy Disney Sr. to lead it; The search for new management in the wake of a terrible downturn in success; The struggle for directive and creative control in the company that almost resulted in all immediate Disney family members leaving the company; Several attempted leveraged buyouts; and the search for the new CEO that would save the Disney dynasty. All of which resulted in the selection of Michael Eisner as the new leader at Disney. The second half of the book takes the reader on an enjoyable romp as Eisner and his new team "brush the dust off" many of Disney's hidden treasures, re-releasing tens of Disney classics in theatres and onto video. The story also tells of how Eisner and his team add their own mix of movie, TV, music and animation creations to move Disney into the 90's. This is a great read for anyone interested in the world of the Disney empire, although I recommend reading at least one other book that focuses in the earlier Disney years for a better taste of just how things did change

Sums it all up.......2006-08-01
This book is a great introduction and first "taste" of a vast subject, written for kids aged 5 to 12 (my personal estimation). It covers plant parts, processes, reproduction, flowers, and description of plant ecosystems in many different habitats and parts of the world, including a neat fold out spread on the rainforest. This book is visually rich and has tons of information. Highly recommended!

Designed as a journal for all occasions, this midi-sized book is perfect for everything from hurried note-taking to capturing serious thoughts. Sized to fit in a jacket pocket or purse, this traveller has rounded edges so it will slide easily in and out of bags. The memento pouch will keep bit and pieces safe; the ribbon marker will remind you where you left off; and the elastic belly-band will keep everything together.

Elegant little notebook........2007-08-08
This design is indeed more "silver-y" than it looks here, but it's lovely. The elastic is a nice touch (though my elastic broke after heavy use over the span of several months).
The covers have 'raised' details, giving them a nice 'feel' and another fun detail. It's a bit shimmery, and just great little books.
They are fairly small, but handy. I wouln't use heavy ink as the pages are a tad thin, but the books do "feel" nice. I plan on purchasing even more in this series.
Perfect........2006-06-05
"Gorgeous" does not even begin to describe this journal. The entire line of Paperblanks Intricate Inlays journals are beautiful, and well worth every penny, but "Crystal Flower", in my opinion, is by far the best. I may be biased, though; it jumped out at me while browsing the net for a prayer-book, and, being a devotee of Ishtar, the blue and purple hues and 8 points of the flower called out to me. Just looking at it when it arrived inspired me to write down 3 prayers, all within about 15 minutes. It's durable, hard-cover, lightweight, and absolutely stunning. Perfect.
Inspires Creativity.......2006-06-02
Are you inspired by the beauty of book covers? The picture here truly does this book justice. When it arrives, the colors are slightly less purple (see scanned picture) and a little more rose and blue, but still inspiring with a mother-of-pearl glossy sheen and silvery iridescent highlights. Unique features include a memento pouch, like an envelope at the back of the book. The pages are also acid-free.
There is a ribbon page marker, but also an elastic band the keep the book closed. This helps to keep the pages safe if you like to carry a book around in your pocket or purse. I can think of many uses for this book including collecting poetry, quotes or writing your most intriguing thoughts.
I'll be using this book to collect essential oil recipes for the bath. I like collecting oils and then figuring out which scents I like best. This is a perfect book with 176 pages that will give me plenty of room to write recipes for perfumes and bath products. Now I have to find a pen worthy of writing in this beautiful book...
