Not a good book for baby beginners.......2007-10-12
Beware if you are buying this book for an infant starter to solid foods! the first chapter starts off by giving a new solid food everyday of the first week, whereas most pediatricians recommend 1 new solid every 3-5 days to ensure there is no reaction from the child. The author starts by giving rice cereal on day 1 and moving onto apples day 2 and carrots day 3. Quickly jumping to the 7-9 months section of the book, she lists some "tooth friendly snacks" for our little ones teething and with new teeth...some of her suggestions are "cream cheese with mini bread sticks, mini sandwiches with peanut butter or egg salad, vegetable sticks on their own or with dip" just to list a few. some of these items are choking hazards, let alone peanut allergy issues with some pediatricians not recommending peanut foods until children are well into their toddler years.
the book is cute and has great recipes for older kids, as well as purees for the more experience solid food eating baby. This book is not nearly as good as some other baby "first" solids books available.
Great recipes.......2007-09-21
I like this book, as the author reviews important nutrients for different ages, and how to get them from various foods. I also am very happy with the age progression in the recipes and the inclusion of different finger foods. The recipes can take a little time to prepare, but usually there is enough for several meals. I have been feeding my baby recipes from Annabel Karmel since she started eating solids, and she has loved almost all of them.
Great book.......2007-09-16
I have not used the recipes in this book just yet, i am a mother of triplets and will cook for them myself for the most part, i looked this book over and read most of it, looks great! Recipes are easy to make, i also got another book, top 100 baby purees, both books have similar recipes, but this one has alot more for older age, so if you want to get just one book go with this one.
Excellent Cookbook! .......2007-09-14
This book has excellent recipes. I have not used much of it yet because it is more appropriate for toddlers. My baby is still 10 months old. What is excellent about this book is that the recipes can be made for the entire family. The recipes are excellent tasting! I have Anabelle's other book and several of the recipes in that book are included in this book. That is the only thing I did not like about purchasing both books. The baby purees are the same in both books. I think I could have just purchased this one since it has recipes from first foods to toddler foods.
You will not regret purchasing this book. Recipes are easy to make and freeze well. Your entire family will enjoy these delicious meals. I only wish I had purchased this sooner so my baby would have eaten this from the beginning. Initially she did not want to eat the meals because she was not used to so much flavor. But it only took a few tries and now she loves all meals I make her. My suggestion is to make the vegetable or chicken broth to use in the recipes. The broth will keep well in the refrigerator for a week. The meals come out tasting much better with the broth.
Also make sure you use a good food processor when making the purees. It will certainly make an enormous difference in the food textures.
You will love this book and your baby will too:o)
"Choke" full of info.......2007-08-13
I was pleased to find a book that gave me everything I wanted and then some... organic food cost and nutritional value vs bland, nutrient, lacking jared food; the courage to make the effort to prepare homemade food, the nutritional breakdown of foods esp. protein because of concerns of feeding meat to a child before he aquires molars to properly chew. I will use this as my bible for my 29 week premmie and his future sibilings. The one thing I found missing was information on the nutritional benefits and values of goats milk as an excellent milk alternative. Recommend to any mom. Enjoy !!!
Book Description

Customer Reviews:
Great source of information.......2006-07-07
Despite the comments about the recipes (none of which I have tried), I liked the book - especially the organization of it, the way the foods are listed with their important vitamin/mineral/etc. I think it is a very good book to have for any mother or father, as a source of reference, even if the recipes aren't used b/c at least you know what food is providing your child with what nutrient. I checked it out at the library, read it and wanted it immediately. My mother saw it on my coffee table, read it and also wanted it just for herself.
Faults with this book.......2002-11-11
The concept of this book was good. but the recipes are poorly written, sometimes with steps apparently left out. Even if the recipes are followed as written, the final product does not come out properly. In addition, my kids would not eat any of the recipes I made from this book. (Although my husband & I liked some of them). If you are looking for a children's cookbook I would look elsewhere.
pass on this one.......2001-09-13
Interesting book to read but recipes are complicated, time consuming and if that's not enough the 3 we tested tasted horrible. Food for little fingers is a much better book for both toddlers and youngsters.
Boost your child's brain power!.......2001-06-15
With over 150 delicious recipes, you will want to try some of these recipes for yourself. Kids and adults alike will enjoy recipes for Berry Delight drinks or chicken patties in a soft tortilla. There are appealing and quick alternatives to fast food and non-nutritious snacks.
The authors Michael van Straten and Barbara Griggs have experience in the area of nutrition. Michael van Straten is a well-known medicine practitioner in the UK and is a practicing naturopath and nutritional consultant. Barbara Griggs has been studying and writing about complementary medicine for the past 25 years and is the health editor of Country Living magazine.
In this collection, you will find weekly menu plans for every stage of childhood, from conception to the teenage years. An interesting link between diet and allergies, behavioral problems and eating disorders is also helpful for parents dealing with these complex issues.
Nutritious food is now possible with Superfoods for Children. Delicious nourishing dishes can be made for your child to encourage healthy eating habits. There is a comprehensive guide to 130 top ingredients that form the building blocks of healthy eating for children. Vegetables, fruits, dairy products, grains, nuts and seeds, meats, fish, herbs and oils are then used in delicious recipes.
They do say that butter is better than margarine...ok, they get 5 stars just for that comment! I also appreciated the extra section on "Danger Foods." These are foods which used to be occasional treats but have now become part of our children's everyday eating. The authors explain why these foods are not healthy and in detail! I guess some of the items they discuss are not good for adults either.
Some recipes serve 4-6, while others serve 1 or 2. If you are at home cooking for your children, you will not have to make another meal for yourself. Overall, a very well organized book with some wonderful information for special food problems. With so much hyperactivity and children who find it hard to concentrate, parents might find their children become calmer after cooking for them at home and following nutritional guidelines. Studies were conducted which showed dramatic improvements in behavior within a week of being on a monitored diet.

WEIRD AL.......2006-08-17
i bought this cause i like weird al but it is a geat book buy this before it goes to $100 like everthing on amazon!!!!!
Very good overview.......2002-04-19
What this book lacks as a reference it makes up for in structure. By stylistically grouping the vinyl entries and providing a well written preamble for each section, Chuck Miller does a great service for the vinyl collector who may not be an expert in every musical genre. If you need a good general vinyl primer or are new to vinyl collecting, this is it. If you need a reference book, get Tim Neely's volumes.
A FIRST RATE AND FAR-RANGING MUSIC INFORMATION GUIDE!.......2001-11-26
This is a terrific book that not only fits the needs of anyone seriously interested in music, but will also hold the interest of the more casual music fan. It is filled with fascinating
trivia and a knowledge of the music industry that gives an added depth to the various genres of music explored. It will updoubtedly send the reader re-examining their record collections in search of hidden *finds*. For *anyone* buying or
selling records ... or even just learning more about American music ...this book is a *must*!
Chuck Miller's encyclopedic knowledge of music shines through in this record guide! It would make a perfect gift for the music lover (or even the trivia buff!) in your life.
I recommend it most highly!
A Fix For Music Junkies.......2001-11-13
Warman's American Records is not only a great reference book but is also a terrific source of entertainment. Being much more than a price guide, it delves into the history of many of the recordings and offers quite a bit of amusing trivia. I am not a collector in the true sense of the word (although I do own a couple of pieces of valuable vinyl) but I am a music junkie and this book delivers a great fix! I'm looking forward to Volume 2!
Definitely informative, a great record collecting guide.......2001-08-16
This book is a tremendous guide for people who want to start their own record collection, but aren't sure where to begin or which genre to collect. Over 50 different musical genres, artists and labels are profiled, each with photos of classic and rare LP covers, 45 labels, 78 RPM records, and 7" picture sleeves. The book even explains some rising collectible genres, such as Northern Soul music, Space Age Pop, and jukebox-only collectibles. It also contains ancillary information on record and music websites, magazines, museums and books, in order to help collectors increase their knowledge of their favorite music. If you are a record collector, or are thinking of becoming one, this book is essential reading! I enjoyed it immensely!!

Exciting.......2007-01-12
This is a very well done, informative, clearly illustrated, exciting How-To book. If you are interested in making cards, it is well worth the investment.
Didn't care for this book.......2002-12-30
As a professional crafter I found no new ideas here. The money card is neat but I already knew how to make it(might be worth the price of the book). The only other card I liked was the heart one on the cover and the fresh sprigs of evergreen glued in a circle to make a wreath(not a new idea). There is one birthday card with 3 balloons and 2 Christmas cards(I just mentioned one of them).I thought the cards were not attractive, and my 16 year old daughter agreed. Unfortunately I listened to the other reviews when I bought this book. I personally love Sandi Genovese book "Creative Greeting Cards" which never fails to inspire me. Although Sandi's ideas use mostly die cuts, which can be expensive or tedious to cut yourself, there are plenty of unique ideas to adapt using stickers, stencils, rubber stamps or photos instead.
A very inspiring book..........2002-06-14
After receiving this book, I immediately read it cover to cover and was so inspired that I began making my own cards that very night!
It's a beautiful, well-written, well-illustrated, "meaty" kind of book that offers some truly unique and attractive ideas. There's no fluff here, just creative designs with lots of possible applications...something interesting on every page.
Handcrafted Cards : From Elegant to Whimsical : 60 Distincti.......2001-12-20
I'm so pleased. The book is full of wonderful photos, instructions, ideas and patterns. The patterns are small so you'd have to enlarge, but I still love it. I'm new to stamping and card making and this looks like a lot of fun.
A Really Classy Book.......2001-01-10
I recently purchased 5 books on card-making/rubberstamping. This was BY FAR the best of the entire collection. The directions and photos are outstanding. A lot of other information is given which will contribute to your success in creating one of a kind cards. There is something in this book for everyone, from beginners to more advanced abilities and there are projects which cover many interests. THIS IS A MUST HAVE!

Why don't they tell you where to buy the stuff?.......2000-05-16
The pictures were colorful and the ideas were very creative. The author even tells how to sponge paint, stencil, paint murals, and other challenges. I only wish there had been more info on where to buy what you see in the book and exactly what colors of what brands of paints to use. A wonderful book if you want to stay away from wallpaper!
Excellent source for ideas.......2000-01-21
I had no idea how I wanted to decorate the nursery for my first child, so I quickly turned to several books. This book contains examples of many different decors, with helpful discussions of themes, practicality, and choosing items that will last beyond the nursery stage. The book is an excellent value as it provides a lot of ideas, including instructions for creating some of the ideas shown. It has inspired me to create some of the looks in my own home.
Inspriational.......1999-08-13
There are not many childrens decorating books out there that it why I am so happy to have found this book. Great childrens decorating book full of bright colorful rooms and soft subtle rooms.
