Growing up Lebanese and learning to cook with Sitto(Grandma)and Mom taught me only our Lebanese region's ways. Now that I'm on my own, I'm learning to use all the region's talents to cook. There are many variations to these recipes throughout the regions , but this cookbook offers not only the traditional way of preparing the food but also some extra flare. Each recipe has been carefully explained and they have all tasted delicious.

This cookbok is Great! I purchased this as a gift for my father and he Loved it. He is from Lebanon and knows how to cook many lebanese foods but this cookbook refreshed his mind and gave him new ideas. He couldn't wait to start cooking.

On the contrary to what M.D. Thomas said, this Cookbook has 17 Lebanese Recipes & 20 American recipes--and is great information to "get started" learning how to cook the Lebanese way. There may be others that have more info, but we never claimed to be an all-comprehensive dictionary-type book. This is a wonderful Cookbook and well worth checking into!!

This book has VERY few Lebanese Recipes and wasn't much help if your looking to learn about Lebanese or Lebanese-American Cooking. There are much better books out there for this type of cooking. I don't recommend this one at all.

Verlinden's way with WWII Aircraft.......2000-05-24
Dioramas, a reproduction of scenes of battles or a representation of what is like to be at that period of time. And almost 99.9% are related to Armour or things on Land. With this book, Verlinden has help to open a new area in dioramas where many people have never thought off or simply believe its not possible with planes. Some of the diorama featured includes Ju-87 undergoing maintenance in North Africa, a B-17 that crash landed after returning from a mission, Me 110 or Me 262 preparing for the next mission. It teaches one how to built an model, where to get an idea, what is the colouring of the planes should be with huge and colored photos of the aircraft that is building, accompanied with some reference on what are the paints to use for washing and dry brushing to achieve the desire effect as well as the arrangement of accessories to make a beautiful dioramas. The book itself also offers alternatives of super detailing with aftermarket parts from Verlinden. Something that I like and dislike. I like it because I know what to get if I want to super detail my model, however I would prefer the useage of other items from other modelling companies. Even though Verlinden might be a master in modelling, that doesn't justify that his products surpass others, which is the reason why I don't give it a 5-star rating

This book has very good pictures but doesn't really touch the building process, I would recomend the first volume of this series, that book does explain with more detail the construction process, washes, drybrushing, etc. Other than that you will see incredible models in the three volumes.

I bought this volume and Vol II, thinking they would provide a wealth of information to take my modelling skills higher. Sadly, that is missing in these books.
Sure, there are truckloads of photos all in glossy color. But nowhere is there proper detail about the steps actually involved in making of the dios, like painting, weathering, etc. This is what this book primarily lacks.
Another disappointing fact is that the books are superb advertisements for the VP range of products, which are too expensive for the average modeller, who could as well scratchbuild some of the stuff on display.
In some cases, the creators of the models even go to great extents in detailing interior stuff, which wouldn't be seen anyway after the model is assembled. Why anybody would invest money and time in putting in stuff which is not visibile is a million dollar question.
If you are looking for a book on improving your modelling skills, this is no match for Mike Ashey's books. Both of Ashey's books are worth their while in gold.
Buy this book only if you are interested in getting ideas for your a/c dios. Not for improving your modelling or painting skills!

I have made several of the dioramas Scutts explains. However, I have to add that this book is only for professionals. The instructions are clear and accessible but you will be able to grasp them only if you have had previous experience making models. Otherwise read Modeling for Dummies.
Just a Mediocre Modelling Manual.......2000-07-26
I have read Jerry Scutts' "Advanced Military Vehicle Modelling" in this Osprey series and that one only deserves 1 star. This book "WWII Dioramas" is an improvement but not quite up to standard yet.
This book covers two dioramas and described in detail the making of each component. There are some good advices and some useful basic techniques. However, with over 30 years of military modelling experience, I considered these two dioramas are not yet in the league for publication.
I am not sure if the dioramas are made by Jerry but they are of mediocre quality. The painting techniques mentioned in this book are very primitive and newer ones are not included.
The painting of the 1/32 Matchbox "Citroen" in the first diorama ruins the whole thing. It just looks like a "Matchbox Car" inside a diorama. The painting of the figures are two dull and unlively.
In the second part of the book, a number of pages were used to describe step by step painting of each figure in the second diorama. Poor quality figure painting is well displayed here. Shading is too rough, facial features too rigid and chaotic camouflage patterns.
I have read modelling books from Francois Verlinden and Tony Greenland and their works are still at top ranks at this time. Bill Horan's figure painting techniques is of Masterclass calibre. There are a lot of books and magazines from Japan on military modelling and they are also of very high quality.
I can only recommend this book to beginners in military modelling who would like to build his/her first diorama. More experienced modelling enthusiast don't need this one.

This book is divided into six sections, each dealing with a different model of an aircraft from the second world war. With one exception, the models were made by the professional staff at Verlinden Productions Studios using the highly detailed Verlinden Productions resin and photo-etched model aircraft detail sets. They were each photographed and documented at various stages of development, and finally incorporated into attractive diorama settings. Each article describes in-depth the construction, detailing, painting, and weathering of each model in such a way as to guide the reader through the process so that he may benefit from the professional tips and techniques revealed therein. One of the articles, which is of a beautifully detailed 1:32 scale P-51D Mustang, was built and photographed by the very accomplished Spanish modeler, J.M. Villalba. This book provides lots of combinations using color and texture. There is a pull-out reference book that detaches from the main book so you can bring it with you when you shop. Along with each combination presented in the book, the author gives the codes as they appear in the pull-out reference book. I didn't enjoy the actual text - it was not an easy read.

the book is very easy to use it has a logical divided decoration ideas for each room in the house plus an easy reference for the diffrent texture and colours on the right hand side which you can combine the diffrent colors to see the result without going to the shop to check the combination of colours i recomend it for a good ideas on anybody whish to decorate thier home and not have any idea on color combinations
