I've been a vegetarian for a long time and am sort of tired of the "same old stuff." Even though my kids are grown and gone, I bought this book because it promised simple dishes kids would like. I readily admit I am an uninspired cook and the state of my pantry usually rivals Mother Hubbard's. But this book, as promised, did contain many new and easy ideas and combinations that are quick to prepare from common ingredients. Many of the recipes use meat substitutes, which in my mind is "cheating." The way I see it, vegetarianism is a meatless way of eating, not making traditionally meat-based dishes with substitutes. Except for that personal little quirk, I'd rate it 5 stars. I appreciate the variety this book will introduce to my diet. I also really appreciate the "do it because it's healthful" slant of the book, rather than the usual "do it because if you don't you're a bad person" focus of so many other vegetarian cookbooks.

Typical vegetarian fare. I was looking for easy, simple recipes for my 5-year-old, who refuses to eat meat, yet prefers chips and ice cream to healthy foods. The recipes in this book include bean sprouts and other not-so-kid-friendly ingredients. They just don't impress my son. I much prefer "Feeding the Healthy Vegetarian Family" by Ken Haedrich.
Great recipes for everyday use.......2007-01-08
We are two working parents raising our children to eat like us, ovo-lacto vegetarian with some fish. My 2-year old is a more adventurous eater than some kids, but his favorites fall in the ever-popular bread, pasta, and cheese categories. We have tried many recipes in this cookbook, and he has liked just about all of them. Several are now part of our regular weekday repertoire. They are healthy and easy to make. I highly recommend this cookbook.

I've made several of the recipes in this book and I haven't found one yet that I don't like. In particular, my family and I love the Veggies and Dumplings. It has become a regular feature on our table.
A little disappointing..........2006-08-30
I found this book a little disappointing. There are a lot of recipes in this book that call for vegan cheese. My kids don't like vegan cheese. I'm trying to find more creative recipes that do not depend on meat substitutes. One funny thing, there is actually a recipe for a whole carrot placed on a hot dog bun as a substitute hot dog! That is what people who make fun of vegetarians imagine we are feeding our kids every night! I would recommend "Vegan with a Vegeance" over this book.

For a busy parent wanting to make vegan meals, this book can't be beat. The recipes are ultra quick and easy and the ingredients can be found in most supermarkets. I've tried the Portobello Mushroom Sandwich, Red Lentil Soup, Carrot-Potato Pancakes, Giant Oatmeal Cookies, Sweet Potato Curry, Winter Vegetable Chowder, and Granola. Every recipe worked and my family liked them all.
It's obvious these are real recipes, used by real families. This is not gourmet cooking but practical meals that you can make in a hurry and that your kids will eat.

Don't miss out on this simple vegan cookbook. Even if you have cookbooks lined up in your kitchen this one is a must have! The recipes are simple and the ingredients are common ones that you have in your pantry.
So far I have made Blueberry Tapioca Pudding which is delicately sweetened (I used Agave Nectar) and has the antioxidant power of Blueberry and the creamy tapioca taste to savour. A main dish that you will keep making is the Zuchinni Eggplant Lasagne that is easy and quick to serve family and friends. This is a great dish to get the kids to eat their veggies! For desert the vegan butter tarts are the best and putting them on a tray with the chocolate peanut butter dipped pretzels with simply WOW your famiy again! Don't forget breakfast fare as there is plent of it. Sticky Banana loaf is sweet and moist and served with a scoop of Vanilla Rice Dream it is again another great desert treat! This is absolutely a Vegan cookbook you do not want to miss out on and just like the title says these are "receipes even your kids will love"!

This is one of those cool cook books that has pixctures all the way thru it... the prep, the stuff you use, the finished product. It is great for an older child (10 and up) to use to get cooking.

I bought this after running out of ideas to feed our vegetarian family that would also be interesting for our 3 year old. The best thing about this book is the pictures of the complete dish as well as the ingredients needed at the recipe side so that even children who are not reading yet (like ours) can still get excited and help out with the first step of hunting down all the ingredients needed.
Despite being vegetarian, the recipes are not overly hippy - you can get all of the ingredients at any supermarket and they actually include ingredients like butter, milk, cheese and salt. The finished dishes all taste great- also a hit at potlucks!
We also like the kid recipe projects like making a bread house or animal shaped breadsticks, a fun activity you can do with your kids and then be able to enjoy eating too!
The hardcover book also keeps nicer than paperbacks being around wet and messy ingredients.
Beautiful Enough to be a Coffee Table Book.......2000-04-21
This book is overflowing with fantastic photography, reminiscent of those children's books with hundreds of photos of everyday things. If you are visually oriented like me and appreciate knowing exactly what your dish is supposed to look like when it's done, you`ll love this book. Step by step instructions with photos make creating these masterpieces easy even for the inexperienced in the kitchen. Just a word of warning: it isn't for the perpetually behind schedule and the fast-food obsessed. It's the kind of cookbook that makes you want to learn to cook, and it deserves an hour set aside to create these lovely meals. If you can only reconstruct half the fabulous presentation, it'll be worth your time! In reality, most of the recipes only appear to be time-consuming; they are not. There are only a handful of recipes that seem to be specifically aimed at pleasing the preschool set. The book is meant for children of all ages, including teens. The recipes will most definitely appeal to adults and older children. I would be willing to bet you could even tempt a devout meat-eater with some of them. There is definitely an eggs and dairy emphasis, so it cannot be categorized as a vegan cookbook. It would make a great gift for a friend or family member that wants to know what to cook for you when you come to visit or as an introduction to vegetarian cooking.

I bought this for my wife who is a potter as a hobby. She likes the book a great deal and continues to use it extensively as she does her pottery design work. It seems to be a very good reference document with great pictures.

The handmade ceramics of the Paul Revere Pottery, often enlivened with stylized images of animals, flowers or abstract patterns, are best known today by the name of the girls' club whose members created the wares: the Saturday Evening Girls (SEG). Local reformers organized this club in 1899 to provide cultural activities for young Italian and Jewish immigrants of Boston's North End. Under the guidance of designer and illustrator Edith Brown, and as a way of helping with difficult family finances, the group soon turned to crafts. Before long, SEG ceramics had caught on, and were being sold through department stores in cities throughout the Eastern United States; though their success was largely curtailed by World War I, the pottery continued to operate until 1942. Today, SEG ware is highly collectible. Art and Reform offers a briskly written, handsomely illustrated introduction to this episode in Boston's cultural history, discussing the role of the SEG club in the life of the city's immigrant community and its ties to education reform and the Arts and Crafts movement. The book presents some 50 examples of the ceramics themselves, mostly by Sara Galner, one of the group's most gifted members, showing the wit, charm, quiet beauty and lasting influence of these remarkable decorative objects.

I think the Case of the Capital Intruige was very interesting. In it, George has taken a job as a photographer's assistant. Nancy and Bess assist her to DC for a vacation. Little do they know, Nancy runs into a mystery. First, a sacred statue is stolen, and Nancy must face dangers to get it back. But then, the embassador is kidnapped- and in an extremely exciting mystery filled with clues, codes, and dangers, Nancy solves another page-turning mystery. I think any mystery-lover would enjoy reading this Nancy Drew mystery.

This book was great! I really enjoyed it! It was easy to follow, and not confusing! The book kept you in suspense, and you had no idea what the ending was going to be! The basic plot was this: Nancy's friend George gets a photography job at the white house, and invites Nancy to visit her. During Nancy's first day, a gold hummingbird gets stolen, while Nancy is unconcious. Most of the main characters in the story (not including Nancy or George) have good motives for stealing the hummingbird. It's up to Nancy Drew to find the thief, but just as everything is going well, the ambassador is kidnapped...
This book is very clever, with a twist at the end! If you love mysteries, you'll love this book!

Nancy Drew is going to the White House to see her friend George Fayne. George is a photographer at the White House. George is a girl. George wanted Nancy to come and stay for a little while to see her photographing. Nancy ends up having to investagate a few things. George gets sick and Nancy wants to think in George's office. Nancy hears a person right outside the door and sees a shadow. She burts out of the door without thinking and into the elevator when she feels a hand on her leg. It isn't who Nancy suspects it is at all.

The Case Of Capital Intrique is a instresting, thrilling, and exciting book. It is about the American president and the San Valente president making a negotiation. They exchanged alot of gifts. One of the gifts was a rare golden humming bird. It was stolen. Nancy Drew, George Fayne, Eddie Enriquez, and Brent Larson tried to figure out who stole it. The people who stole it was a security guard trting to get a promtion and a F.B.I. detective. They kidnapped the San Valente ambassador( Eddie's father. ) They kidnapped the ambassador because they wanted him to try to call the negotiation off. I liked this book. I hope you will like it too.

This assessment of ways in which Pennsylvania Avenue could have been reopened without compromising the safety and security of the President was completed prior to the September 11th terrorist attacks against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. It does not examine in detail the physical security requirements in and around the White House, nor is it an exhaustive catalog of the possible measures available for protecting it. Rather, it considers the context and circumstances that influenced the 1995 decision to close the section of Pennsylvania Avenue directly in front of the White House and assesses that decision's continued validity and appropriateness in light of developments, including trends in terrorism and counterterrorism, that have occurred since 1995. Measures that could offset the threat of a truck bomb at the White House while preserving to the greatest extent possible normal traffic patterns and daily life in the city are identified. Although the alternatives discussed have been rendered moot by events following the terrorist attacks, the primary intent of this assessment is to emphasize that any decision about issues as important as the fate of Pennsylvania Avenue should be attended by broad consultation and independent assessment.
