Worst cookbook ever. .......2007-10-10
I've used a lot of low ingredient, low-fat cookbooks, and this is probably the worst food I've ever had in my life. The food literally tastes like vomit on a plate. Please don't buy this. Invest in a better cookbook.
Great Easy Cookbook.......2007-05-07
This is a great, easy cookbook for anyone looking for simple dinner ideas. It does call for some frozen/prepared ingredients (such as diced pre-cooked chicken or frozen chopped onions) but if you want to use fresh ingredients you can, just plan on spending a little more time on the recipe. Most recipes have just a few simple ingredients (never more than 10) and take either 15 minutes of prep time, 15 minutes of cook time, or 15 minutes total time. The barbeque meatloaf is fantastic! The book includes desserts, salads, an extensive meatless entree section, and chicken, beef, and pork options. I haven't made anything out of this cookbook that I didn't like.
My New Favorite Cook Book - the .......2007-04-12
This is the best cookbook I have seen for busy people (who isn't?) who like tasty food but can't spend a lot of time preparing it. I not only use this for my family--I am teaching a weekly cooking class for my grandchildren using this cookbook. They (all 15 of them in the classes) will probably be even busier when they grow up than we are. This book is so well organized. Main dish with vegetable suggestions and recipes both on the same page, plus suggestions for breads and dessert. The recipes give a nice variety of ways to cook common items (chicken, beef, pork, fish--vegetables--desserts) and even includes the grocery list to the right of each recipe. It also has a full color photo of every recipe. I like the fact that the entire meal, not just the main dish is included. I also like the "No-stress shopping list" If you keep this page of items on hand you can cook over 1/3 the recipes in the book. As if that weren't enough--the food is chosen to provide healthy, well balanced meals that taste delicious. A real winner!! (I am a Mom to 9 children--and a grandmother to 38 children)

A must have for people who enjoy good food but don't have a lot of time to cook. Tons of quick and healthy recipes that taste great. A favorite in our house.
shoulda known.......2007-01-23
I guess I shoulda known that being a 15 minute cookbook it would call for a lot of frozen ingredients. Unless you're Rachel Ray and can cook up a storm in the matter of a few minutes you will definitely need frozen stuff to make a meal in 15 minutes. Wouldn't recommend if you like fresh ingredients.

Cooking Light Low-Fat Low Calorie Quick and Easy Cookbook.......2000-11-16
These recipes definately save fat, calories and time. The meals taste great and you don't feel like you are sacrificing on taste. Some recipes do take a little more time than the book states but they are well worth it. I also like that they break down the calories by what percent come from fat. I like the recipe tips offered in the book as well as how the book is broken down by desserts, meatless, fish, etc. This is a winner which I will send to my friends.

Doesn't taste low fat or low cal............2005-05-23
I plan my weekly menus from this book every Sunday morning. There is something in there for every day of the week.... chicken, beef, pork, seafood and even pasta..... all low fat and low calorie. The recipes are so easy and the ingredients are typically your normal kitchen staples with an occassional item added to the normal shopping list.
There's nothing like getting home after a long day at work and still having to make dinner. That's where the Quick & Easy part comes in. These recipes make getting dinner on the table a snap. Usually with-in 30 minutes or less.
You can't go wrong with this book. Every recipe is easy to follow and tasts great. We haven't made 1 thing in the past 4 months that we did not enjoy and we cook from these cookbooks everyday. I had several other cookbooks where I had written on pages "YUCK!" or "NO GOOD" when I've tried a recipe and didn't like it. Not one of the Cooking Light recipes have I done this to. I've since thrown away all the cookbooks I had that are not Cooking Light.
I own 17 other Cooking Light cookbooks, some have easier recipes than others, but this one is my favorite. The taste of the meal is as if you had ordered it from a very good restaurant. My husband and I recently went on a cruise and he said "I like your cooking from those cookbooks better than the cruise food". What more can I say? Buy it, you'll love the way you look and feel. Slimmer and healthier.
Outstanding Taste & Real Time Saver.......2003-04-20
This book has by far the easiest and best-tasting recipies. It is perfect for a small family who are health concious and prefer spending time together rather than in the kitchen. The meals are so flavorfully creative and my family just loves everything that comes out of this book. The best part is the book has great time-saving and serving suggestions that really complement each other. I would recommend it to everyone.

Somewhat odd recipies.......2006-11-16
I bought this cookbook with high hopes. So far those hopes have been somewhat dashed. The first recipe I made was for Chili. The recipe calls for cloves and lemon juice. It sounds odd and when I made it it tasted odd. The next recipe I made was the crab cakes. This recipe involves water chestnuts and sesame oil. Also a large departure from a traditional crab cake. This recipe was quite good but I would love to see more traditional variations on these recipes as well. Don't buy this book without taking a close look at the recipes first.
Awesome recipes!.......2006-08-25
The recipes are easy and delicious. It has quick and "Super-Quick" recipes. Color photos are provided for many of the dishes, and the layout of the entire book is terrific. Nutritional info and Diabetic food exchanges are provided for every recipe. My only critiques are: while the recipes are easy many have a long list of ingredients yet the prep time for most recipes is 25 min. or less. Seeing a list of 17 ingredients is daunting but knowing the prep time is only 17 min. and cooking time is 10 helps assure you that dinner will be ready fast. Second critique: a few recipes call for processed food ingredients (cake mixes, white flour, frozen pizza dough), and some desserts use a lot of sugar--not as healthy as some of us might like. But, having said that, MOST ALL of the recipes are truly great and healthy! Nice addition to your healthy recipe collection.

The recipes I've tried have all been very quick, easy and tasty. They're all recipes I have cooked over and over again. The book includes recipes for appetizers and desserts, which I don't cook alot. So, my only complaint would be that I could have used more main dish recipes instead. But, for the price, this is a very good choice, IMO.

I wish the authors had listed the amount of sugar contained in recipes as well as the Total Fat etc. I swear by the SUGAR BUSTER program and having the sugar content would be so helpful.

This book sounded perfect, so easy and low fat besides, but when I studied the recipes I found a whole lot of salt!! This is a very unhealthy way to go. Too much sodium is a sneaky death threat. There has to be a way to correct that problem in a future four ingredient cookbook.
I felt like Martha Stuart.......2000-12-25
I received this as a gift after I started college. I had no idea how to make it own my own, let alone cook for myself. I was bound and determined not to gain the dreaded "freshman fifteen" so I tried the recipes from the Low Fat and Lite cookbook...wow! It was so easy! I became the apartment cook for all the roommates. I love this book...and I NEVER gained the weight, in fact, I lost 20 lbs.

My son bought this cookbook for his girlfriend because of her inexperience with cooking. They have tried many of the dishes with amazing results. New Years Eve we enjoyed Chicken Cordon Bleu from the book and it was delicious. Ingredients are readily available, simple, and best of all LIGHT. I am getting a copy for myself before the day is out.

Keeping It Wild.......2007-02-13
Black and Brown Faces in America's Wild Places is an excellent book to share with young people. It lets young people see people of color participating in actitivies and careers in the great outdoors. These actitivies and careers are open for all to enjoy. I purchased several books to share with the young people in my life and have received very positive feedback. One young man was very proud to share his book with his class for Black History Month.
Keeping It Wild
An important book for outdoor recreationists.......2006-11-03
Dudley Edmondson uses the personal comments and profiles of 20 black and brown Americans to make observations on the participation of minorities in outdoor pursuits. The "whiteness" of many of these activities is obvious. Without pointing fingers, the book makes clear the importance of drawing minority populations into activities such as birding, hiking, camping, etc. As the population of this country grows more diverse, as faces of color appear more often on city councils, county boards, and in legislative positions, an appreciation of the value of natural resources by these people will become important. As the saying goes, we protect what we understand and appreciate. Edmondson's book offers personal experiences and observations that make the point that the outdoors and its pleasures are for everyone. The book is illustrated with the author's excellent photographs. This is a book to be shared with anyone who enjoys outdoor activities.

Fantastic Book on the Wildlife of the Great Plains.......2004-03-30
As a resident of the great plains for eleven years I found this book the best ever on the subject. Johnsgard's writing weaves its way in and among the best photos I have ever seen of the wildlife of this area. As a photographer I have some idea of the work involved in capturing the great images seen in this book. Bob Gress has done an outstanding job with the photographs, the best I have ever seen. If you are a resident or even a visitor to the great plains you owe it ot yourself to get a copy of this book and study it cover to cover.
Outstanding Plains Fauna Information.......2004-03-30
As a resident of the Great Plains I have found it difficult to find information about the wildlife of the area since moving here 11 years ago. Until now, that is! This books has it all. The writing of Johnsgard flows well in and around the fantastic images of Gress. As a photographer I know what it takes to get good images of the wildlife around here. To get EXCELLENT images takes time, patience and an understanding of the habitat and habits of the animals that call the great plains home. I was able to spend one short morning in a blind with Bob Gress photographing the Greater Prairie Chicken. Not only did he have an excellent blind but it was in the right place, on their lek and we were there at the right time. My photos, while nice captures of the birds were not nearly as well executed as Bob's.
If you are a fan of the last remaining plains in North America as I am and want the ultimate book of the wildlife here, this is it! You will be awestruck by the images but be sure to read the prose as well.

The woolly spider monkey, or muriqui, is one of the most threatened primate species in the world. Because of deforestation in their natural habitat--the Atlantic coastal forests of southeastern Brazil--the muriquis are confined to less than 3 percent of their original range. As of 1987, there were only a dozen forest fragments known to support a total muriqui population of about 500. As of 1998, at least 20 forests are known to support at least 1,000 muriquis. This book traces the natural history of the muriqui from its scientific discovery in 1806 to its current, highly endangered status. Karen Strier provides a case study of this scientifically important primate species by balancing field research and ecological issues. Through her accessible presentation, readers gain a broad understanding of primate behavior and tropical conservation.

The book tells the story of Karen Strier's 20 year long research among the muriquis, the largest primate of the Americas, on a rain forest conservation unit in Caratinga, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Karen's findings have enabled her to write a very influential article criticizing the "myth of the typical primate". It is a solid work of primatology and yet very much readable. It contains scholarly work without pedantry. It documents an exemplary scientific carreer dedicated to research and the environment.

What a great book. I love to redo my rooms for less and this is a book that everyone should have on their shelves.
Plenty of Variety.......2007-01-19
This was a great book that lived up to its title. All makeovers were indeed under $500 and most had at least a few dollars to spare. We'd be hard pressed to be able to replicate any of the rooms for the same prices however, as Quinn frequently uses Ebay to snag her deals. (This is not a bad thing, just an FYI.) Quinn illustrates many different styles from playful to elegance for many different types of people; baby, child, teen, college, first apartment, empty nesters, parents, retired... everyone is represented. She gives a bit of background on the the people and why they need a change, tells the reader what is good about the room and what is bad about it, tells you how much she spent and shows the before photo next to the after photo. She gives tips on what to be on the look for when trying to replicate the particular style, give tips (with diagrams) on what makes the room work, encourages alternate uses for household items and at the end Quinn gives a brief tutorial on how to do one or two of the projects she did for each room. I enjoyed this book and think others will too.

I just love this idea. I have been looking for inspiration to make my house more of a home and I have found it in Miss Quinn's book. She is right your home should really be a place that suits you , not just a roof and walls.
She has so many great ideas to choose from like the pot rack over the bed as a canopy I love that. This book is great for someone who has a fear of interior design, it makes it easy.
Excellent budget minded tips!.......2006-08-15
This book is so creative and incredibly inspiring! Lisa Quinn really knows her stuff. She has innovative twists on everyday objects that can suit anyone's style (and you can mix and match between rooms). I especially love the "sexy bedroom" on the cover. What a brilliant idea to screw desk lamps into the wall! I highly recommend this book for people looking for some inexpensive inspiration to brighten up their abode.
Inspiring!.......2006-06-27
This is a great book for decorating ideas and tips. The author really breaks down all of the design elements in each of the rooms and has great instructions for low-cost decorating ideas. Some of the projects presented in the book are very original and creative. I also really like the fact that the majority of the decorating projects are relatively simple and easy to complete. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves or is interested in interior design.
