Bobby Gonzales, a promising young dancer with the Miami ballet, is the only suspect in the murder of Roger Cresswell, whose family has been building yachts for wealthy Floridians for two decades. Bobby is also the secret boyfriend of Angela Quintana, whose father Anthony, a successful criminal attorney, is having trouble letting go of the two main women in his life: his daughter and his former fiancée, Gail Connor. Angela asks Gail to help her clear Bobby; Gail is torn, knowing her participation will bring her face to face with the man she still loves.
Roger is the second Cresswell to die violently; his sister, a talented artist who was the wife of Anthony Quintana's client, took her life at the height of her fame. Those facts seem like more than coincidence to Gail, whose efforts to unravel the family secrets that seem to be at the core of the Cresswell deaths are complicated by her fondness for Angela, her belief in Bobby's innocence, and a surprising secret of her own.
Suspicion of Malice is as much a love story as a murder mystery, but Parker invests her plot with enough stylish touches to keep the momentum going. She excels at characterization--Gail's emotional depths and conflicted feelings are well explicated, Anthony's old-world machismo and modern vulnerabilities sympathetically portrayed, and the secondary players, especially Gail's mother and Anthony's grandfather, clearly and convincingly drawn. As in previous outings (Suspicion of Deceit, Suspicion of Betrayal), Parker has used the sexual tension between Gail and Anthony as they collaborate in crime-solving to good effect; how the events in their relationship that drive this thriller to its violent conclusion will affect their professional as well as personal affairs awaits a future installment. --Jane Adams
Book Description
The critics call Barbara Parker's work "top-drawer suspense" (The New York Times Book Review) and proclaim her to be "one of the genre's most accomplished performers" (The San Diego Union-Tribune). Now, in her most intense, unforgettable novel to date, Parker reunites Gail Connor and Anthony Quintana for a shocking case that exposes the underbelly of sleek Miami--a case that could bring them closer together, or destroy everything they hold dear.
A brutal murder takes place in the shadows of an exclusive party on the Miami waterfront. The victim is the heir to a yacht-building family fortune. Bobby Gonzales, a talented dancer with the Miami Ballet, is the prime suspect, as well as Gail Connor's newest client. Gonzales has an alibi, but it involves a respected Miami judge with whom he was smoking marijuana at the time of the murder. The judge is represented by Anthony Quintana, Gail's ex-fianc. Gail must join forces with Anthony--the man she'd vowed never to lay eyes on again--to find the killer and clear both their clients. Thrust back together with Quintana, Gail must decide if she should reveal a shocking secret . . . something she should have confessed months ago that will change both of their lives forever.
Customer Reviews:
Donada Peters incredible reader for Parkers characters.......2003-10-07
Donada Peters does so much more than read the words in Parker's books. She brings operatic talent and range in accents to bring the cast of characters to life, both male and female. The romantic magnetism between Anthony and Gail has left me eager for the next title, and distressed not to find an unabridged reading by Ms. Peters for the subsequent Parker titles. I am on hold in hope.
1st book ever read by Barabara Parker...........2003-07-22
This book is awsome! Amazon had suggessted that I would like this book when I was purchasing another one which was also another great book. So I read the first few pages that it gives you as a tease and decided to buy it as well. Now I'm going to the library in a few days when my request comes through for the first book of the series for this writer because this book was just that good. The twists that this book had kept me haning everytime I turned the page. It was very hard to put down and walk away.
Connor and Quintana keep sparks flying..........2002-02-20
in Barbara Parker's continuing "Suspicion" series.
The on-again, off-again romance of Gail Connor and Anthony Quintana has the stage set by a murder; each has a client that is on the fringe of the killing, and each has to support each other to insure that the real killer is unmasked.
Dysfunctional is the middle name of each person in the Cresswell family. Each remaining person, that is, because the book opens with the suspicious murder of Roger Cresswell, a killing that keeps tying back to Maggie Cresswell, his sister, who had been a victim of what seemed like suicide in a prior year. Anthony's daughter Angela, returns, getting Gail involved in the criminal defense (not a specialty of Gail's) to defend the boy she loves, dancer Bobby Gonzalez. Although Bobby is entangled in the background of the killing, so many of the Cresswells have motive, and so few of them have any admirable qualities, it seems that Gail and Anthony, working together against their better judgement, must pull the responsibility back to one of them, but whom?
Both Anthony and Gail, single parents and very different in heritage and background, leave the reader wondering about their attraction, and attraction it is, despite their break up in a prior instalment of the series. Although they remain together at the end of the book, it is only with some tragedy in their own lives, which draws the reader even closer to them.
The Miami setting is well-told in Parker's novels, and the romance never interferes with the mystery, just enhances it. A great read from a fine writer!
A Good Read.......2001-11-11
I enjoy Ms. Parker's Gail Connor series a lot, and this one is no exception. However, I may be in the minority, but I don't like the relationship between Gail and Anthony. I think they make much better adversaries than lovers, and I hope the author returns to that in future installments.
Excellent and Intelligent.......2001-10-21
Loved this book and sorry to have started late in the series. Will catch up real soon. This book kept me up late at night - a sure sign of a good read! Relationship was very intense and you never knew where it was going for long. Barbara Parker is on my reading list for sure now!

Book Description
For the eighteen million American women afflicted with early bone-loss disease, here is the first comprehensive guide to identifying and controlling the condition before it progresses to osteoporosisOsteoporosis, which afflicts more than half of all American women over the age of fifty, is a widespread and all-too-familiar problem. Osteopenia, a milder bone-loss disease that is the forerunner of osteoporosis, is less well known but affects an estimated eighteen million young and middle-aged women-including women in their late teens and early twenties. Since many doctors associate low bone density exclusively with postmenopausal women, millions of women in their childbearing years suffer from undetected bone loss, putting them at risk for debilitating fractures down the road.In Reversing Osteopenia, Dr. Harris H. McIlwain and his two daughters, also rheumatologists, fill the knowledge gap about this easily diagnosable disease, help younger women recognize the risk factors for bone loss, and provide a five-step program for controlling and even preventing bone loss. Their age-specific recommendations for women in their twenties, thirties, forties, and fifties include- exercises that strengthen rather than threaten your bones- new information about foods that build bone density- ways to avoid medicines that rob bones of their strength - recommendations of natural dietary supplements This groundbreaking book offers new hope for young women at risk for osteopenia.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent book!.......2007-09-01
i bought this book upon learning that I had osteopenia and found it to be a helpful resource. It helped me to change my lifestyle in hopes of ridding myself of osteopenia. I highly recommend it!
very informative book.......2007-04-09
I have read a few of Dr. McIlwain's books over the years and have found them all to be so informative. I bought this book after my mom was diagnosed with osteoporosis so that I could learn about preventing it for myself. It is so easy to read and explained everything I needed to know in great detail. My bone density has improved after taking his suggestions!
Great book on osteopenia!.......2006-08-12
This book is a must read for all mom's and for women that want to prevent osteopenia and osteoporosis. The book walks you through the steps of preventing a disease that many assume just happens. I have completely changed our diet. Easy to follow and good information.
Disappointing.......2006-07-12
This book did not come close to my expectations. It is unnecessarily repetitive about the most basic information. Once I've been told that smoking is a risk factor for loss of bone density, just how many case histories of patients do I need to read where the expert medical advice is Surprise, Surprise!! Quit smoking. There's a lot of "filler" material in this book, but then information that the reader needs is left out. We're told to get more Calcium, Vitamin D and Potassium in our diet, but the recipes in Chapter 7 don't even include nutrition information for these nutrients. And many of the recipes are high in fat, which isn't good for anyone. We're told about the importance of weight-bearing exercise, but none of the exercises shown uses weights or even a resistance band. I wanted practical advice on diet and especially exercise and don't feel that this book delivered.
Wonderful book A+.......2005-11-07
Understandable, practical information including diet, exercise, medications, dietary supplements and recipes. A clearly written bible for bone care. I highly recommend this excellent guide for anyone with questions on bone loss and bone care.
Book Description
BABY LET-S EAT offers home-cooked alternatives to commercially prepared baby foods that are as delicious as they are easy to prepare. Written by a professional chef with the help of a nutritionist, each chapter offers vital nutritional guidelines for the various stages of growth from six to 36 months. The author also assures parents that it isn-t necessary to get bogged down in detailsmeeting a baby-s nutritional needs on a weekly rather than a daily basis is fine, and there are weekly menus for inspiration. Baked Rosemary Chicken with Tomatoes is a meal in itself, bakery goods such as Orange Muffins and The Great Oatmeal Wheel indulge the sweet tooth without refined sugar, and dishes like low-calorie, high-protein cottage cheese Sticky Dip with Vegetables store will in the refrigerator for healthy snacking. Generously illustrated with fanciful drawings, BABY LET-S EAT! is an upbeat choice for families who are shn ort on time and moneyand long on giving their growing children a sound, delicious, headstart. Selection of the Book-of-the-Month Club.
Customer Reviews:
Super Great Cookbokk.......2007-05-13
I just love this cookbook! Its super informative and the recipes great! I love that the none babies in the house can enjoy the food as much as the baby. I also loved learning about incorporating spices into baby's diet. The california chicken with avacado is great.
It worked for us........2006-10-28
I used this book as a reference and guide in creating a diet for my son from the moment he was born. He is now 12 years old and eats almost any vegetable (as long as it's cooked well), fruit, or grain without coaxing. He is not overweight and enjoys and appreciates a well thought out meal. I think this book is a good start on the road to healthy dietary habits.
Not even one`.......2004-02-04
Usually I don't write reviews but with this book I had too. I bought it bc my 10 month old won't eat baby food anymore and I was hopeing for some better ideas for what to feed him now. All of the recepies for people under 12 months are either pures or contain egg. Almost all of the ones for children over 12 months contain lots of milk and cheese some even contain nuts. Also most of the recepies take a long time to prepair and cook. In short their is not a single one I'm looking forward to trying and I'm glad I bought it used.
Useful but a outdated.......2001-06-22
The book is outdated in that it refers to the four basic food groups (pyramid food groups have been around a long time now) and shows pictures in each recipe for which food groups are included. I did not notice that the copyright date was old. And, I think it had a couple of suggestions for feeding things to little ones that I wouldn't follow (but every mom makes those decisions on their own anyway). I almost returned it but since I really don't know anything about cooking (I had to read directions to make rice) I did find some useful information. And, for moms who want to do the more healthy thing for example there is a recipe for healthy yogurt instead of buying yogurt with sugar in it.This is the kind of thing I found helpful. There are some really good looking recipes for a beginner cook like me.
So far, great for new eaters!.......2000-07-03
Has many good recipes for steaming veggies and fruits in combination with other fruits and veggies. Most can be eaten by family and leftovers frozen. Easy to follow directions. AND the book lays flat when you have it open to a recipe! No more loosing your place! I bought two other baby food books and this one is by far the best I got. Great deal!

One of my daughter's favorites!.......2000-06-15
"Let's eat" is a book I have from when I was little - sort of. I'm trying to order two new copies (it's out of print) for my sister and me, because our old copy has about three tattered pages left - which my daughter makes me read all the time anyway. The pictures are adorable and it's great fun to read.

Great information.......2006-05-12
I am a homeschooling mom of a kindergarten-aged daughter and we both LOVED this book! We have just started bird watching in our backyard and this worked in well with our discussions of what different types of birds eat and how to bring them to our yard!
The book states for baby-preschool, but I would say that the information inside the book works well up to 1st grade.

for hungry little readers.......2002-04-02
A very cute book indeed but light on text, making it tough to read to, let's say, a one year old. However, the artwork is yummy, and as your child grows, you can talk to him or her about what is on each page for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. Not the best book out there, but for the price, it's a nice change of pace.
Cutest little board book!.......2001-07-11

Spanish translation of "Let's eat!".......2001-08-09
Charming book about a Spanish family at mealtimes narrated by Antonio, the littlest member of the family. Each day Mama calls out from the kitchen for Antonio to fetch a family member for lunch, and everyday someone is too busy to come and eat with the family. One day it is Mama who cannot eat with everyone, because she is in hospital giving birth to their new baby Rosa. Finally they all come together for paella.
Lovely story for children learning about family relationships and foods, with Julie Vivas' spirited watercolour pictures adding lots of movement.
