Book Description
Luck is on the side of most during the incident at the Four Kings Casino and Hotel, when the simmering tension between two rival biker gangs suddenly boils over into all-out violence -- miraculously, there are only two fatalities despite the hundreds of rounds fired on the casino floor. Called to an out-of-control crime scene -- located outside Las Vegas in the legendary town of Boot Hill -- forensic investigators Gil Grissom, Catherine Willows, Nick Stokes, and Sara Sidle quickly discover that the two casino shootout victims were no innocent bystanders: one was the powerful leader of the Predator gang, and the other a luckless card dealer who may have borne witness to an elaborately staged execution.
Meanwhile, back in the glitter of Sin City, CSIs Warrick Brown and Greg Sanders have their own hands full, as the dark side of this desert metropolis is about to wreak havoc on the two investigators via a seemingly endless series of crimes. . . .
Customer Reviews:
Great book.......2007-01-03
I have read all the books in this series and love them all. This book was no exception. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is there was a little more cursing in this book, which I felt was unneccessary. I will read the next book when it comes out. I look forward to it.
There's A Lynch Mob Coming For You, Sheriff Grissom!.......2006-10-04
After a shoot-out between rival motorcycle gangs leaves one of the leaders and a young woman dead, the gangs square off and it looks like a bloodbath is imminent. Catherine Willows, Gil Grissom, Nick Stokes, and Sara Sidle ride into town to clear up the confusion and put the world back to rights. In the meantime, back in Vegas, Warrick and Greg get totally swamped with murders on a night that just won't end. Greg gets into his first stand-off over pistols, works his first bank robbery, and sees the king of the jungle dead up close. The novel is partially based on real-life events that took place outside of Vegas, but the authors have taken liberties with the story.
SNAKE EYES is the eighth CSI tie-in novel that Max Allan Collins and his behind-the-scenes writing partner Matthew V. Clemens have done. They've also done two of the CSI MIAMI novels and one of the television show, BONES. Collins is a multi-talented author and a grandmaster of mysteries who was recently inducted into a Lifetime Achievement Award at the latest BoucherCon. Matthew V. Clemens has been Collins' writing partner on some projects for the last few years. Their new short story collaboration anthology, MY LOLITA COMPLEX, will be out in November.
SNAKE EYES "feels" just like a television episode of the series. The characters are all their in their glory. The book is set in the fifth season (before Stokes was kidnapped in the Quentin Tarantino episodes) and introduces Warrick's impending marriage to his wife, though she's kept off-stage. Grissom is done especially well, relating to the local lawman, Lopez (as jaded as any of John Wayne's cowboy characters) and standing tall among the bikers. Their references to Western movies is well done and foreshadows some of the action.
The book is a thoroughly enjoyable read to a fan of the television series, but it's also a great little mystery to while away a lazy afternoon or a rainy day. Collins and Clemens have really hit their stride in the series and hopefully they'll continue for some time to come.

Not normally a mall rat, young Sammy Keyes somehow finds herself at the video arcade with her best friend one day, blowing off steam before the big junior-high softball tournament. Naturally, fans of this plucky girl detective (Sammy Keyes and the Hollywood Mummy, Sammy Keyes and the Sisters of Mercy, etc.) will not be at all surprised to learn that this innocent outing winds up putting Sammy in the middle of another big, messy, dangerous mystery. In spite of her best intentions, our sleuth is soon exploring the seamy underbelly of her hometown, confronting gang members, pursuing a man with "hatred for eyes, steel for a mouth," and trying to take care of an abandoned infant--all while remaining undercover at her grandmother's adults-only apartment complex. Newcomers and veterans of the Sammy Keyes mystery series will immediately take to this not-so-hard-boiled seventh-grade detective and her funny yet issue-laden adventures. (Ages 10 and older) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
Sammy’s softball team is in contention for the Junior Slugger’s Cup, and all she wants to do is hunker down behind home plate and catch strikes. But Heather Acosta brings new meaning to the term “foul ball” as she schemes to get Sammy kicked off the team. And Sammy is thrown a wild pitch by a frantic girl in the mall. She begs Sammy to watch something for her and then dashes off before Sammy realizes that the bag she’s left holding contains a baby! Now there are some pitches that you shouldn’t even try to catch, but Sammy’s a take-it-in-the-chest-protector kind of player. So when the girl doesn’t return for her baby, Sammy decides to go find her. And her search leads her into situations that are just not covered in a softball playbook.

Spy Dude.......2007-03-23
This book very confusing and I barely know what's happening (so far). All I know is there's this dude named Keyes, Sammy Keyes. Sammy is mysterious. He is like a spy dude. People think he is kind of weird, But they can't know for sure because he is mysterious! Sammy is trying to find snake eyes (dice) but you will have to read the book to find out why this is important. This is not my favorite book because it is too confusing. -Drew
Awesame book!.......2006-10-12
This was the first Sammy book that I read and I really enjoyed it. It's very exciting and is a real pageturner. It has you guessing until the end and is written very well. The characters are also very likable, especially Sammy, who stands up for herself to the popular kids.
Sammy is at the mall with her best friend Marissa when some stranger gives her a bag with a baby, because some scary guy is after her, "Snake Eyes" as Sammy calls him. Sammy has to sneak in to her Grams' apartment with the baby which is very hard to do. Then the girl disappears and Sammy is sure that Snake Eyes has something to do with it. Sammy is very brave and solves the mystery with help from her friends even though she often has softball practice because of the Junior Sluggers Cup. She also gets herself in very dagerous situatins but always manages to get herself out of them. Marissa and Sammy get also blamed on that they sprayed mean stuff on another school which is heathers's fault who made it look as if it were them when it really wasn't. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an exciting book.
Wendelin van Draanen is a very good writer and I loved all the Sammy books that I have read yet. The books keep you coming back for more and I got some new ones and am very excited to read them. I hope they are as good as the other Sammy books! This book is very excitng, has a good plot and you never know the end. I give it five stars since this book is excellent. The series is one of my favorites and is very good. So I strongly recommend it to you and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Good story about the Russian mob.......2004-01-18
I don't come across too many books about the Russian Mafia, so of course I had to read this one. This was the first Donnie Brasco novel I've read, and I enjoyed it.In a nutshell: The Russian mob is operating an illegal casino in some backwoodsy, swampy Louisiana hick town, and Donnie goes undercover to help shut it down. Along the way he tangles with the local Italian mafia and a female FBI agent who wants to beat him to the punch. The story moves quickly with a lot of suspense, and the ending is pretty explosive. My only complaints were: 1-The book doesn't really delve into the character of the Russian mafia hit man who's after Donnie. This character seemed pretty major at the gitgo of the story, but he pretty much fades away as the story progresses, so much so that i didn't recognize his name when it popped up again near the end. The fact that Donnie thought he saw this hit man but wasn't sure is only more tantalizing. 2-It would have been nice to see the reactions of the Russian mafia goons Donnie worked for -- Mitki and Rat -- when they discovered that Donnie was actually an undercover agent, but they're offed before they can learn the news (sorry for the spoiler!)I recommend this book as a first-time read if you're new to the Donnie Brasco series
Donnie's at it again........2002-05-14
If you are a fan of Joe Pistone's writing you'll love his latest novel.Follow Donnie to New Orleans to battle the Italian and Russian mobs. His writing and story really give you a sense of the danger, excitement, and lonliness that an undercover agent experiences. Can't wait for the next adventure!

"Find us a Cunnigan -- bring him to us -- prove him to us -- and if a blade worth having from end to end of Rajputana is not at his service, I myself will gut the Hindu owner of it! That is my given word!" said Alwa. "He had a son," said Mahommed Gunga quietly. A son -- a son of Cunnigan-bahadur! It was a notion to inspire legions.

Healing emotional hunger one step at a time.......2005-05-15
Before the image of an OA meeting being filled with obese people fills your mind ... think again. An overeater can be anyone ... fashion model ... successful accountant in a size 8 ... fitness trainer ... midly plump dental assistant ... anyone. The causes and reasons are different. Overeating is not a lack of willpower but an emotional relationship to food that has someone not know when to stop. Eating is natural, overeating needs to be addressed so as to protect our very health. This wonderful "bible" for Overeaters Anonymous helps those in recovery work their healing one day at a time. Whether at a meeting, or in a personal inventory, or in working with a sponsor ... this contains elements of surrendering our will power to a higher power. Whether you believe in God or not, the notion of not having to do this alone is a welcome relief for many caught in a viscious circle of emotional medication through misuse of food. The concept of a higher power enables someone to be open to group support and feel the possibility of living a healthier way. This book is a program that is not a quick fix, a diet, or anykind of body makeover technique. What it provides is a way of thinking and living that addresses the root of using food as a drug.
This book is a lifesaver.......2003-05-04
Not much else to say, but that I use this book on a regular basis and consider it fundamental to my recovery from compulsive overeating. It's a challenging book and seems to grow in meaning as I grow in understanding!
Excellent.......1999-03-02
This is an excellent book for people who are addicted to compulsive eating. If you use the principles of OA in your daily lives, you will be able to stop eating compulsively and lose the excess weight.
Product Description
211 pages - the 12 steps help you get through the problem of overeating. This book provides a detailed often moving exploration of how OA's principles help members recover and the fellowship function.
