Customer Reviews:
Wretched book.......2006-06-09
I had read several books by Ms. Clark and liked them for the most part, despite their obvious flaws. Her first novel, "Decked," had good settings, interesting characters, and a satisfactory plot. Others of her novels had similar assets. But THIS novel, "Snagged," was complete nonsense. It is padded shamelessly in an attempt to prop up a very weak and predictable story. How many times must we be informed that the pantyhose are virtually indestructible? How much foreshadowing can the reader take of the wretched sounding "party" to introduce said pantyhose? Cliches abound throughout. Bad writing, poor syntax, wrong words, dull characters, bad everything prevail. Did no competent editor look at the manuscript for this? Did Ms. Clark not see the classic Alec Guinness film, "The Man in the White Suit?"
I would add only that the thinly veiled character who is Ms. Clark's mother in the real world is a bit too much, a trifle too ritchbitch. And it feels as if the younger Ms. Clark tried to ride the popularity of her mother character in this book. If so, it was a bumpy ride indeed.
In a word - INSULTING.......2005-09-07
This book is insulting to readers of average to above-average intelligence.
To say it is difficult to get published is one of the understatements of the century. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to get published these days. Average writers can forget it. Good writers, probably not. Great writers, maybe... just maybe, if your agent and the publisher are in a good mood.
Therefore, you don't see much drivel making it to print anymore. I don't even know if this book is good enough to be called drivel. The immature writing is below sub-par and the characters are so flimsy that they don't even qualify as "cardboard". Even the basic premise of the book is so thin, it should never even have been made into a short story.
But I guess, when your mother is one of the most exhaulted mystery writers of all time, you're allowed to vomit text on to a page and expect to get it printed. Must be nice.
very fast light read.......2004-08-19
If you need to kill some time in a waiting room, I recommend this light reading. The book reads quickly , I like the wriing style, and overall the story is "fun"... as fun as senior citizens watching Matlock daily in the nursing home. There is no real violence so it is very sedate and you'll be able to go to sleep without checking under the bed. The suspense really revolves around the sale of the pantyhose rather than the characters being killed. Overall, if you need to forget your troubles, dive into this book which requires minimal brain activity.
Unputdownable.......2004-02-15
This is one of my most beloved websites ever, and after voraciously devouring CHC's "Snagged", my first Regan Reilly mystery, I was utterly aghast at the unbelievable one-starred review. I believed this book to be one of the best mysteries I've ever read. And I've read neary 300, and I think I'd know a lemon when I spotted one. CHC keeps the suspense moving right along, the story is...usnagged, unsnared, unhitched, hurtles along the pages like a wildfire. Okay, so the ending is just a tad too pat, a tad too perfect, but it's still a great novel. She writes like her mother, in the same classy, almost elegant style. I, personally, think CHC is a much better novelist than actress. Do yourself a good deed and pick up a paperback copy of "Snagged". You'll be sure to enjoy it.
WOW !!.......2003-10-25
I see from the other reviews that people either LOVE this book or HATE this book! I think its fun and written well -- I canNOT agree with those that put it down. Read it and see for yourself.
Book Description
Kyle needs to steal some important papers from his gang boss to be free. But someone steals them first! And wouldn't that someone just have to be tall, blonde beautiful Seth, the only man Kyle has ever found remotely attractive and the only person in the world who can put Kyle off his game. Seth's awfully nice about the papers though, and offers to give them to Kyle, if Kyle will come home with him. Kyle does, only to find out that Seth has other interests in him.

something new for me.......2007-04-05
It really wasn't that bad. considering that this is the first book i've bought of this sort so i'm not really sure what else to say.
WOW.......2007-01-11
Okay, all of you thinking that this will be a regular size book, don't. This is a small book but a good one. A pocket sized bit of yaoi fun with plenty of humor. I happen to like this author's work so check her out!
Surprising Romance.......2006-11-22
The story started out great but half-way through the book, the main characters had fallen in love. But there were still pages to read. I stopped for the night not willing to be disappointed by the boy meets boy/boy loses boy/boy gets boy in the end finale. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the arc the story took. Jet's characters are actually smart, loving, protective, and real. I couldn't put the book down until I read the end. Great story!!!!
Yummy,...Yaoi!.......2006-08-14
Enter Kyle, your average 18 year old safe cracker. He's trying to steal back some paperwork his boss has that would be very incriminating to Kyle. Yep, bossman has been using the paperwork to blackmail Kyle into stealing for him ever since Kyle's father (who happened to be bossman's accountant) died, and Kyle wants out. So, Kyle decides it's time to crack the bossman's safe. Enter Seth. Tall, luscious Seth. Also a member of bossman's gang. Kyle is caught in the act, and Seth demands payment. Well, not without pleasure as well, but I'll save that for the reader. I'm not going to give it all away! A super read, very romantic, steamy, yaoi-ish. I am SO-O-O looking forward to her next title, "Tech Support". The first chaper was listed in the back of this book and looks even better. Beware, readers, the yaoi novel is definitely getting better in America!
4.75 of 5.......2006-05-04
From the first page this short novella opens with action. To be specific, it opens with Kyle in the process of finding out that some documents he's come to steal have already been stolen. He's just realized this when a hand clamps over his mouth.
Enter Seth, who has an agenda of his own, and a reason to steal the very papers that Kyle was about to take.
But everything isn't as it appears, and there are motives behind both Kyle's act of would-be theft and Seth's actual procurement of the documents. From that point on the story becomes a round robin of tense sexuality, teasing, taunting, denial and outright flight from the man of his heated dreams on Kyle's part. When we do finally reach the inevitable conclusion .
The cover art, by the very talented Eiris Key suits this tale quite well, with the characters drawn very much as they are described in the story.
This story was a genuine treat to read and I greatly enjoyed the interaction between the characters. Add a solid and interesting plot with a touch of espionage Snagged" is a must read for all yaoi fans and lovers of great m/m erotic stories.

A Great Mystery for All Clark Fans.......2000-07-16
A sharp and satisfying mystery with a fast paced story that is both glamorous and intricately plotted. Just the right size for reading on a plane ride or on a bruise.
The plot moves along quickly and abounds with humorous touches that weave through the suspenseful story. The characters are eccentric, loving, brave, swarthy and suave. This is the first in the series of Regan Reilly mysteries and sets the tone for those that follow.

Excellent Readings of Excellent Stories!.......2000-08-17
I actually own the Audible.com copy of these books, and purchased it because I had heard the Audio Book of Lucky Day and wanted to hear it again and share it with others.
Lucky Day and Trapped are among the best of the 5 stories, as they are fairly short and keep you very interested the whole time. The longer features are also good however they are read by males with lower voices and were harder to hear because I was on an Airplane, so I did not listen to them as much.
Lucky Day has a very great climax and you will be shocked and amused as the narrator dramtically reveals the last few paragraphs.
Trapped is a less known Dean R. Koontz story, however it is a very good one, and is quite believable!
I share these treasures with my friends in my car, and long plane trips seem much shorter with this book! If you don't buy it, find someone who did because there is hours of entertainment you shouldn't miss!
You will be on the edge of your seat . . ........1999-01-08
This cassette is worth it just to hear "Lucky Day" by Mary Higgins Clark and "Trapped" by Dean Koontz. In fact, this cassette hooked me on Mary Higgins Clark. Both stories are full of suspense. You will be sitting on the seat of your chair trying to figure out in "Lucky Day" who killed the old man, why, and why the woman's husband is suddenly acting so strange. At the end, you experience the same shock the characters do and rethink your own relationship with the one you love and trust the most. In "Trapped," super intelligent lab rats escape and take on the task of of trapping the humans that created them before they themselves become trapped. When the rats blow up a farmhouse on their own accord, you begin to wonder if the rats have actually won.

The must have source book!.......1999-11-20
Out of all the TMNT & OS source books this one is easily the best. With rules for time and cross-dimensional travel, plus stats for making dinosaur characters. If you only get one TMNT source book, this is more than likely the one you'll want.
Book Description
Mr. Griffin marshals the evidence that cancer is a deficiency disease like scurvy or pellagra aggravated by the lack of an essential food compound in modem mans diet. That substance is vitamin B17. In its purified form developed for cancer therapy, it is known as Laetrile.
Why has orthodox medicine waged war against this non drug approach? The author contends that the answer is to be found, not in science, but in politics and is based upon the hidden economic and power agenda of those who dominate the medical establishment.
This is a new edition of the book. It is the most complete and authoritative treatise ever produced on Laetrile. It explains the theory by which Laetrile is believed to work. Case histories are included.
Customer Reviews:
Covers more than Cancer therapy.......2007-09-25
A fascinating review of Leatrile therapy for Cancer which was dismissed as 'quackery' by the FDA and most of the modern medical world in the 1970's. But it doesn't stop there as it covers the present system of health care and medical education,Drug company cartels in modern day and how they developed in Europe during the Nazi rule of Germany and continuing into world war two and basically how the new world order has been controlling our health care and pharmecutical industry for decades. It contains vital information that has been covered up by these organisations which, when you consider that 1 in 3 people will suffer from Cancer at some point in their life, probably everybody should read.
A Must have book for anyone!!!.......2007-09-17
One in four of us will get cancer, that is scary!! What is more scary that we have put forth over 2 trillion dollars in cancer 'research' and yet they are treating cancer that exact same way they have since the 70's. Radiation, surgery and chemo are barbaric, expensive and unsuccessful! b17 WORKS and this book written in 1974 proves that!! You can find the vitamin by searching 'laetrile'. Another great must have book is 'Cancer step outside the box by Ty Bollinger. This book has many proven cancer cures. Also listen to the cd Dead doctors don't lie. Its very enlightening about the medical field and how most diseases start from a simple deficiency.
World without cancer........2007-08-10
I feel this book should be read by everyone in this country. To know that there is a cure for cancer is not being reported but hidden from us all.
The first time I read it was 30 years ago and wanted to get this again to read and share. No need to suffer or die from this disease. Thank you,
Martin Slattery
Great book a Must read........2007-05-24
There is a cure for everything out there. All one has to do is turn to the nature. FDA and others are deliberately withholding or even actively preventing from getting out the information about natural products that cure. Why? it is more profitable to treat than cure decease. Buy this book with confidence. You can get the book or audio version on Ed's web-site.
[...].
GOT APRICOTS?.......2007-03-10
Just when you thought there was no cure for cancer, out comes G Edward Griffin's book (first printing in 1974) to tell us about the great fraud of the medical profession and how the fraud got started. The first half of the book brings you up to speed about the surupticious dealings inside the cancer industry and the AMA to cover up any promising results from a drug called Laetrile, made from apricot seeds containing the vitamin B17. Also, in part one is a very interesting thesis on the orgin of cancer and trophoblasts which are stem cells found in pregnancy that behave the same way cancer cells do. Read about the Rockefellers, the Nazi's and the FDA's attemts to squash alternative appoaches to cancer for the benefit of the pharmeceutal companies and their cartel's. The bottom line is that it's all about money. This book begs the question: What do oncologists do when they devolop cancer themselves? Do they take the poison they push on their trusting patients or do they go to Canada to get a dose of Laetrile? After reading this book, you may never trust your doctor again!!!!

cuts the fat.......2005-04-05
All of the info in this book is good. But the best part about this book is the organization of the drink recipe section. It doesn't simply bombard you with a huge alphabetized list of drinks that you'll probably never have to pour. In this book, the drinks are categorized into Basic, Popular and Fun categories, and recommends you memorize the Basic and Popular drinks if you plan on working in a bar. FINALLY, a book that tells you what drinks are really important to know. Books like Mr. Boston, are quite handy on those rare occasions when someone asks for a very obscure drink. But this book really helps you figure out what drinks are essential to know. There's no point in driving yourself crazy trying to memorize 1,000+ drinks when you're probably only going to run into 50 of them with any frequency. I love this book.
Great starter book for the soon-to-be pro.......2003-07-13
I have been bartending professionally for about 7 years. I happened into a bartending job when a former roommate of mine was moving, and his employer needed a bartender immediately. I knew absolutely nothing about tending bar at the time, but this book gave me the knowledge I needed to get started. I developed my skill as a bartender at that job and have since moved on to much busier establishments. Forget bartending school--this book, along with a more expansive recipe book like Mr. Boston's for the occasional obscure drink request, is all you need.
a very practical book.......2002-01-09
this book is pretty cool. it has all the basic recipes, and complicated ones that are fun to make. there's also some good reading about how to set up your bar, how to get a job, and other good info. i didn't know anything before i picked up this book, but now i feel pretty good about bartending. i definitely recommend this.
Simple, elegant, practical.......1995-09-04
This books gives the basics of bartending covering many aspects
from ustensils to effects of alcohol. It is designed to let
you be an efficient bartender as opposed to making up a drink
with 3 random ingredients. Hence no list of 10,000 cocktails
just the ones you MUST know plus a few fun ones.
Despite this no-nonsense approach, the tone is humorous and
makes this guide fun reading.
