getting better.......2007-06-23
As far as mysteries are concerned I expect genre loving readers will still find this second episode at fault. The very classical rules of very classical detective stories require that the readers be given all necessary inditia to solve it for themselves.
It does not happen here and the identity of the murderer is entirely unexpected.
As for the rest I was happier than with the first book: this series is apparently not meant to be more than just entertaining and entertaining it is.
The writing is quick, light hearted; there are repetitions and redundant statements but fewer than in the first episode not to mention that Simon is much more likeable here than it was there.
An easy read for a lazy afternoon: this book is nothing more but also nothing less than this.
Vampire Mystery.......2006-11-05
Another very enjoyable read. Simon Kirby-Jones is a real tease though leaving Giles wanting!
Those pills..........2006-10-04
Has no one but me noticed that on page thirteen of the first book, Simon explains that he must take the pills twice a day? And then throughout this second book, he takes them three times a day?
What's up with that?
Cute but needs more Vampire action.......2006-04-06
This is really a cute cozy mystery but it needs more vampire type action. Simon did not vamp out not once.. (sad face) and he needs to get with his boyfriend if he is going to have a lover.. GET on with it already ... haha
I will get the other books and read them.. they were cute.
Not very good at all.......2005-04-29
Simon Kirby-Jones needs a stake driven through the heart.
It would truly be a mercy killing for this character.

Written especially for Elvis fans.......2002-05-12
Written by Elvis expert Gail Brewer Giorgio, The Elvis Files: Was His Death Faked? is a revealing expose that candidly questions every aspect of the death of Elvis Presley's and the subsequent official investigation, presenting all the reasons and media that have debated whether the rock star's death was faked. The Elvis Files is an intriguing, closely researched, highly recommended account written especially for Elvis fans who want to learn more about the "King" in general, as much as they can behind what really happened at the tragic close of Elvis' public career in particular.
Truly unmissable.......2000-08-18
The Elvis Files is a fascinating book, offering factual information regarding Elvis Presley's supposed death. Even if you are not an Elvis fan, I challenge you to read this book and not doubt the fact that Elvis may still be alive. Unlike many conspiracy theories, this one is built on solid evidence, from F.B.I. files to actual "post-death" pictures and tape/telephone recording transcripts of Elvis himself. The book is well written, very exciting and a wonderful ray of hope for all you Elvis fans out there. Excellent and truly unmissable. Buy this now and read the amazing facts surrounding Elvis' death that will astound you - guaranteed.
excellent, a must read for anyone with doubts.......1999-10-15
I have read and reread this book so many times, its amazing how much proof Gail has uncovered that Elvis is alive.I always believed that there was a cover up.I only hope that she will continue her investigation and keep all her loyal fans informed. It cant be over.
I've always believed Elvis is still alive now theres proof.......1999-09-01
From the first page I read, I knew I wasn't alone on having the feeling that Elvis was alive long after his "death". Gail's investgation on this book has been well done. Like she says in her book, there have been too many "down to eath people" who have witnessed and have pictures of the man AFTER the man. And shame on the docters and hospital staff for overlooking and destroying valuable evidence of a recently dead SUPERSTAR unless it wasn't actually him. Let's face it a cover up as got to start somewhere! Gail's detailed information had to have come from many resources. I know most of her information is correct because I have read it in other books, one book had been by one of the investgaters on this very case, who also find to many holes in the Elvis Presley case and he wasn't much of a fan of him. I can only hope that Gail puts out another book on this case to let us know "IT'S STILL NOT OVER".
Couldn't put the book down!! Intense!.......1998-12-31
This book made me look at Elvis in a whole new way. It was so intriguing and mysterious. The documentation of the facts blew my mind! So many questions going unanswered, it makes one believe who can you trust to be the truth? I highly recommend this book to everyone that believes in the truth, not just what they see, hear, or want to believe. This book contains a mystery that may never be answered.

The possibilities.......2004-06-12
This book brings to light serious questions regarding the death of Elvis Presley. Your mind will real at the possibilities and intrigue. This is a must read for any Elvis fan or mystery lover.
Guess What? That Wasn't Elvis in the Poolhouse in '78.......2002-02-01
Mystery "Elvis" recordings, mystery "Elvis" sightings, the kind of stuff which permeated the author's first book on the subject "Is Elvis Alive", is continued here - and so is the constant reference to her [inexplicably pulled] novel "Orion" about a superstars' plan to hoax his own death, but Elvis' actual role as Agent at Large for the DEA is examined and she convinces the reader that Elvis Presley was not some flake who liked to collect badges, a portrait painted by some from his past who seem to have a huge axe to grind these days. The details of Presley's unusual will are also presented and cause one to wonder if all the facts of Elvis' passing were originally revealed.
Brewer-Giorgio's third work on the subject, "Elvis Is Alive - And He's Coming Back" (The Anonymous Press) is much better.

Drah Cenedive opens the mind of those who don't know what path their on with this very indepth research of Mr.Shakur. I believe and know their is somethings better off left dead, but Makaveli is very important to the young and old with his passion and his relentless will to make the world a better place, especially for the youth of tomorrow. People in America is so blind to where they don't know if their going or coming. I think it's an excellent and everyone in America needs to read this book. Customer Reviews:
Very helpful.......2007-10-10
I bought this book for my best friend's 5 and 7 year olds while their grandpa was dying from cancer. They often asked to work in this book when things were getting bad. I think art is a fabulous way for children to deal with grief, because they have such a hard time expressing their feelings. I definately reccomend this book for grieving children.
Help me say goodbye.......2007-10-03
I was eager to use this book with my four yr. old daughter. She enjoyed some of the activities and drew nice pictures about her Poppa.
For a child with a loved one who is terminally ill.......2007-07-05
This book starts out helping the child while the parent or "special person" - to use their words, is still living. Its an excellent book to get for children who have a terminally ill loved one. It takes them from feelings they experience when a loved one is sick, right now, all the way through to handling the funeral and the death of someone so close. It is also helpful for the adult, who may be grieving as well, because it gives names to the feelings and also offers activities, such as creating a feelings book, to help the child express themselves now and even later on.
Great for younger children.......2007-03-14
This is a great outlet for younger children who don't have the words or ability to express their feelings of loss. They can draw them instead.
The MOST INVALUABLE book for a child facing an IMPENDING death.......2006-07-02
This book is an absolute must have for anyone with a child who is about to face the loss of someone special and close -- due to an illness, accident, or age, -- Children have such difficulty expressing their emotions because in times of such sorrow and anxiety, they are experiencing things they have NEVER felt before. They are confused, distraught, fearful, and so terribly hurt - and when all the adults around them are suffering too -- it makes it all the harder to discuss such delicate and sensitive things -- we want to be strong for them, we don't want our angst to invoke their own.....
But we don't realize that hiding our emotions teaches them to hide their own, or worse, feel theirs are WRONG.....
That is why books like this are so precious and so very priceless -- because it gives the child an outlet to express themselves in the way they do best -- their own drawings, - and their own writings..... not only are these activities that children enjoy - it offers them such amazing therapy - a release.... It encourages them to express and emote, reflect, feel, cope, and most of all -- through creating what is essentially a journal of the child's journey through the impending loss, to the death, to the mourning that follows ---- it gives your child a keepsake for relection, - spiritiual growth, emotional strength, - and a grand tribute and memoir of the intense love and connection they shared - a book that will honor their love, -- and remind them as they grow through the years of the strength and courage they found within themselves, -- and the compassion and tenderness that blossoms from these things.
I gave this book four stars because, I felt misled, in that rather than it being a book for coping with death -- over one third of this book deals with PREPARING the child for what will happen and what to expect; asks them to discuss the changes the see in the person/pet, prompts talks about the hospital, the differences they notice in how the person looks, feels, behaves - what they are limited to now, versus how active or vibrant they were before, etc etc.... --- so it was actually written for those who have knowledge of a tragedy rounding the bend, - For a death is IMMANENT AND APPROACHING =
And I was searching for something that deals with death itself, when it is sudden, tragic, there is no time to explain - the chaos in the days preceding the funeral, everyone suffering so much themselves, -- we are certainly not in any state to find our own way to understand - how can we make our children? -- we are not all so blessed to have the time to say goodbye, to know, - to prepare....
My husband died beside me in the car two weeks before Thanksgiving on the way to his mother's house - I am 26 years old, - he was only 30. He fell asleep, and never woke up -- a brain annuerisym.... By the time I knew something was wrong, it was too late. I couldn't save him -- he made it to the hospital -- but neither could they.
This book can't really help all the beloved nieces and nephews he left behind, heartbroken, -- or me,
But again, -- if you are searching for a way to help prepare your children for a loss, which - if I had the time to prepare -- I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THIS BOOK - this is essential to their health, stablity, strength, and courage for the days ahead.
This book is unmatched in its subject matter and theraputic value. And it is something filled with memories of love they will have forever.

No pictures, which would be fine if he came up with some good recipes. But some of the things he gave were not picniccy at all.

another lovely, lovely book from Jeremy Jackson.......2005-05-11
This book inspired my husband and I to have a picnic on Mother's Day - tablecloth on the picnic table underneath the oak tree, portable radio playing tinny-sounding oldies on the AM dial. What a perfect brunch. We started with Jackson's "Champagne Punch #5" and later had the delicate and scrumptious "Crepes w/Swiss Chard & Golden Raisins." I'm making his "Rhubarb Custard Tart" next, which looks really delicious -- even though, as he says, food tastes a little better when you're outside, I'm sure this is going to taste pretty darn good when I eat it in the house as well.
I'm such a fan of Jeremy Jackson's other cookbooks, too - his writing is so fun and personable -- when's the last time you read a cookbook cover-to-cover, and laughed out loud? This book is all about simple, unpretentious, food. The recipes are original and pretty easy to make, too.
I should also add that usually never write reviews, but I felt like I had to write something because the review above from Publisher's Weekly got it all wrong -- it sounds like that reviewer just had a bad day and was letting off some steam. Which is too bad, because this is a wonderful book. I'm looking forward to a long summer full of beautiful meals and beautiful picnics.
