Great and Helpfull Guide.......2006-09-03
I got this guide a little bit after the game. It's really helpfull. It helped me beat the game. It gives you descriptions of every gun and mod, and armor. The walkthrough is also good too. And it gave me a really good tip on how to beat Vox in the end. So if you have trouble with this game, buy the guide, it will help.

Waste of time .......2005-09-21
Since I bought and read this book based upon the three reviewers who rated it 5 stars, I felt that I should throw my opinion into the ring.
I read a lot of mysteries but this was one that I struggled to finish due to extremely poor choices in plot devices to move or resolve issues in the story.
There were too many coincidences to make this a worthwhile read. For example, our protagonist seeks the senile mother of the suspect and decides she is probably being housed in a very large nursing home complex. While he is there, a tornado swoops down and rips the roof off of the nursing home (it is the most damaged building in the city, of course, and he just happens to be there at the most critical moment) and in the confusion he enters a wing and helps get patients into the hallway of the wing. In this same wing that he stumbles into, he finds a second person he has been looking for and they escape in confusion of the tornado. When he gets to the car, he finds that the original person he was searching for - remember, she has Alzheimer's so she is not looking for HIM - has followed him out of the building and down the street.
This was too much of a stretch for me to believe. There were other unbelievable points of the book but this was an example of the most egregious. I can think of many other devices or ideas he could have used to "find" the mother but he used coincidence instead.
There were also many other problems with the book. Our protagonist is an upstanding attorney with no criminal record. Three people in Kansas City are being shot pointblank in the face and he is immediately arrested in ONE murder when circumstantial evidence point to him as the shooter. At that point, none of his acquaintances, including police friends, believe that he is innocent!
Apparently, no one in Kansas City noticed a pattern of murders committed by an anonymous person shooting people in the face. Three within a two week period.
I could go on and on about the unrealistic and poorly written novel - my advice to you is to do another search and try another book. This one was a waste of time.
Deserves Silver Screen Treatment.......2005-07-16
Goldman's first three Lou Mason thriller/mysteries were well-plotted page turners, but the author has really found his stride in this latest opus. The characters are well-developed, and Goldman creates in the Lou Mason series something too often missing even from prize- and award-winning books: the reader CARES about these people! Warning: don't start this book in the evening, or you will find yourself still reading at 4 a.m., as did a good friend of mine! My law student daughter and my octegenarian mother both said they could not put the book down. Can we spell multi-generational appeal? My only distraction while reading through the intricately woven and believable plot was imagining which actors and actresses would be best suited to portray the convincing, multi-dimensional characters. If ever a book screamed for film treatment, DEADLOCKED does so! The ending was truly satisfying, and left enough mystery to provide fodder for to-be-hoped-for sequelae.
You gotta Love Lou.......2005-01-29
It's simple, folks. If you've read any of the other Lou Mason novels and liked them, you'll like this one. Everything that makes Lou such a great character is here. That wise-cracking, foot-in-the-mouth guy who somehow manages to get in way over his head is back at it again. And if you haven't read any of these books yet, this one is as good as anywhere to start. Try it. You won't regret it.
terrific investigative thriller .......2004-11-14
Death row inmate Ryan Kowalczyk tells Father Steve that he does not believe in God or why would he be here when he is innocent. Ryan's co-defendant Whitney King turned state's evidence insisting that his accomplice killed Graham and Elizabeth Burns fifteen years ago. While Whitney was acquitted of the crime, Ryan was convicted. Witnesses to the execution include attorney Lou Mason, police officer Harry Ryman, Nick the eighteen years old son of the victims and Ryan's mother Mary. Ryan's last word to his mother is "innocent".
Afterward Nick shakes Lou as they discuss the mutual deaths of their parents when they were both three with the former insisting adults hide the truth behind the façade of an alleged accident. Lou wonders if that happened to him. The next day Mary hires Lou because she believes her son is innocent and wants the governor to exonerate Ryan. Nick hires Lou to prove that Whitney was involved. Lou uncovers shocking information that makes him wonder if the state committed a wrongful death (obviously this is not Bush's no mistake Texas). Now someone wants Lou dead to end his investigation.
The latest Mason case is a terrific investigative thriller that makes a clear plea on the use of capital punishment; one error is one too many as there is no way of correcting a DEADLOCKED mistake. Lou is at his hardboiled best making inquiries into the Burns murders while also questioning the deaths of his own parents. The story line is action-packed yet challenges the use of one person turning state evidence as enough for a conviction (even the bible says two witnesses). Joel Goldman makes a strong argument for sanity in death row cases before others are DEADLOCKED inside a fantastic mystery.

A Subversive Cult Classic.......2003-07-10
The Borribles is a truly subversive piece of children's literature. The trilogy takes all the epic fantasy elements of Tolkien: adventure, clansmanship, codes of honour, and inverts them against a backdrop of urban decay and social entropy. Borribles are children who run away from home, scavenge for food and would live forever were it not for the adult world's constant attempts at dragging them jealously back into the madness of workaday mortality. De Larrabeiti is obsessed with the geography of a London that he depicts as a city of near total squalor. The Thames is black and cholera ridden, warehouses crumble, schools lay in ruins and mindless commuters shuffle blindly to work each morning whilst the wily Borribles steal fruit from markets, carry catapults for protection and attempt to live outside of the rat-race. As the story progresses, so does Larrabeiti's vision, shifting from the relatively whimsical sparring of rival subhuman groups -Borribles versus the strange, rat-like Rumbles- to a more serious depiction of a highly moral youth culture where money is an evil temptation, corroding the Borribles' scruffy, communal utopia, forcing them out of hiding and into battle with the adult world; a world teaming with sadistic policemen, hysterical civilians and degenerate alcoholic child-snatchers. A world where the only friendly adults are tramps, wasters and circus freaks. Not hard to see then, why the books never made it onto school reading lists. Yet the characterisation is mature and moving, the plotline ingenious and thrilling. But perhaps most impressive of all is the whole Borrible mythology: a coherent world complete with proverbs, songs, rules, lore and ethical codes, thriving beneath the grimy, menacing mess of modern London. Arguably one of the greatest works of children's fiction and almost certainly the darkest and most morally ambiguous, The Borribles is a fantasy saga ripe for comic-strip and film adaptation, yet it appears to have slipped into near obscurity. Join the cult and treat yourself to a copy, whatever your age.
Mud, Blood, Wendles and Glory - Superb!.......2000-08-10
The Borribles is one of the best stories I have ever read, but The Borribles Go For Broke matches the standard. Discovering that Sam the horse is still alive, the adventurers seek him and are lured into danger, both by the SBG (Special Borrible Group) police and one of the most cunning of their own tribe, Spiff. The borribles fling themselves into, and extricate themselves from, many a mess, but end up in the worst of all possible worlds - Wendle territory, deep beneath the streets - Wandsworth (where the best borribles come from). Here are scenes to make a reader weep and shudder with awe. If you have not been at the bottom of the Wandle river in a shifting tunnel of mud, or watched Spiff fight with a spade honed razor sharp, then you have missed some of the best Borrible action that currently exists. If you can get hold of this book, do so- this book is worth every moment you will spend glued to its pages.
A great Fantasy novel that can be relived over and over!!.......1999-08-11
I read this book close to 20 years ago and it stands as one of my all time favorites! Some of the characters reveal some of the same personality traits as some of the friends that I shared the book with.
A great book for readers new to the Fantasy genre.......1999-07-17
My Grade 6 teacher read us this book and I still remember travelling along with the borribles, that was 20 years ago. If a book can stay in your memory for that long it's gotta be good
Ace Fantasy at it's best.......1998-07-08
These books are some of the few books i've enjoyed reading more than once :o). The author has an incredible sense of charater, that gives his books a life of thier own. Everytime I read these books I feel like i've been there and lived the adventure with them. I agree with the rest. What ever happened to the Author?

It captured my imagination.......2005-12-19
Borribles are runaway children who don't want to grow up. They get their names from adventures. But the greatest adventure is The Great Rumble Hunt. After a note that gets passed to Charlotte about a horse that saved their life during the Great Rumble Hunt, Charlotte gets together with the rest of the Hunt members and tries to save the horse. When things go terribly wrong and they end up in Wendle territory, warrior borribles that would love to kill them, their only hope is to trust a borrible that was a Wendle. Will the borribles ever make it out alive??
This book was a very good book. It was really tense for me and there was always action so it kept me reading. There was a big plot that was unraveling and I tried to guess it but it was very hard because of dips and turns. The author wrote very well and it captured my imagination. I wish to see pictures of the borribles because it is hard to imagine them.

Good basic information.......2005-01-27
I am not the parent of a child with bipolar disorder, so I cannot comment on how useful this book is for parents trying to help a bipolar child. However, as a general reader, I found this book to have good basic information. It was easy to read, not at all too technical for the non medically trained person. In fact, I thought that at times the author could have gone into more detail on particular topics.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for easy to read, entry-level info on pediatric bipolar disorder.
Essential reading for parents.......2004-05-02
Dr. Birmaher has been treating kids and adolescents and doing research on pediatric bipolar disorder for many years, and speaks from both clinical experience and from research findings. One of the best books available for parents on the topic.

San Francisco A La I Could Do Without.......2006-08-06
I have many Junior League cookbooks in my extensive cookbook collection. I purchased the San Francisco A La Carte book along with the I'll Cook When Pigs Fly...and They Do in Cincinnati (Junior League) cookbook with this purchase. Like most Junior League cookbooks, the Cincinnati book was fabulous. If it were as simple as going to my neighborhood bookstore to return the San Francisco A La Carte book, I would. There was nothing unique or unusual in it and I will never crack it open again. It was a very poor choice and I would not recommend it to anyone. In fact, I can't think of anyone to even give the book to...
Good receipes for dinner parties.......2005-10-19
Fun and easy receipes for dinner parties. The enchalada verdes is especially good.
Wonderful food in every page!.......2002-03-27
If ever there is a "must have" cookbook, this one wins hands-down! I am usually pleased with a cookbook if there are 5 recipes that are savers---I have made over 50 from SF a la Carte and not been disappointed. Every page has scrumptious recipes whether a main course, hors d'oeuvre, or dessert. I own cookbooks from around the world, but this is my favorite and I am thrilled to see it once more in publication! Now I can treat my best friends to this treasure and they will no longer have to ask me for recipes.
Years of never-fail, delicious-tasting food.......1999-08-24
I've had this cookbook and SF Encore ever since they were first published and have made many recipes from both cookbooks. Not one has failed to meet expectations. One caveat, however. This cookbook is meant for people who know their way around a kitchen, not for beginniners. Since I've been cooking for a very long time, this was no problem. These two cookbooks are well worn and often-used. I recommend both very highly.
Absolutely delicious!!.......1999-01-20
I began cooking from this cookbook in college and am still using it 8 years later! Every recipe I ever attempted was a success not only in the preperation on my part, but the taste! From appetizers to desserts, this book has helped me stage scrumptuous feasts. I've been recommending this book to my friends for the past 8 years and all of them rave about it too! I figured it was about time to let the rest of the world in on this culinary masterpiece.
