Customer Reviews:
Disappointment.......2007-07-05
I was not too pleased with this book. The only story worth reading was written by Francis Ray. Ladies, you have got to do better. I like anthologies, but this one was not worth the paper.
A Whole Lotta Love.......2006-02-24
Over the Rainbow (Donna Hill)
Is it wise to mix business with pleasure? Jessica Morgan is the owner of Harlem soul food restaurant Lip Smacking Good. At size 18 Jessica is "a woman with some meat on her bones, a real woman." She is at first hesitant when approached by the handsome and regular customer Russell McDaniel. As a photographer Russell asks Jessica to pose for a plus size fashion magazine. He feels that her body "epitomizes the whole living large concept." Before long she is swept into the fast paced world of fashion and modeling. Has what she's been looking for been in front of her the whole time instead of somewhere over the rainbow?
When Wishes Come True (Monica Jackson)
Since her youth, Topaz Sinclair has spent every birthday with a close circle of friends. Her thirtieth is no exception as Topaz with her "rounded, plump curves carried with a womanly confidence" blows out her candles. It's tradition that the birthday girl each year makes a spoken wish. In the past, all heartfelt, sincere personal wishes always came true. So it was no surprise to Topaz that immediately after her wish for true love left her lips, in walked her former high school sweetheart. But as they resume their relationship, something just isn't right. Is this one wish that will not come true?
The Wright Woman (Francis Ray)
Stephanie Wright, a perfect size 20, can't believe her luck when the ruggedly handsome Michael Dunbar walked through the doors of the upscale boutique in which she works. The two hit it off. Burned by his past, Michael is a little cautious about proceeding with a relationship. Not only that, but he's keeping a secret from Stephanie. Can the duo work past this? Will Stephanie be able to show him that she's the "Wright" woman for him before its too late?
This second anthology dedicated to big bold and beautiful women is a winner! The four authors through cute yet sexy stories wonderfully reiterate that beauty is not measured by one's dress size. Job well done ladies.

Oh So Good.......2005-08-04
This book was long overdue. It was a refreshing find and after I read this book I was hooked. My only disappointment was that each story wasn't long enough. I will look forward to many many more.
Thanks ladies, keep up the good work!
4 very nice short romantic stories. .......2005-05-11
1. Over the Rainbow - Donna Hill
Jessica Morgan size 18 is the owner of a restaurant. She likes Russell McDaniels, but is not sure if he likes her. Turns out he was not sure how she felt about him, so Russell kept his desires to himself. Russell is a freelance photographer. Auntie Mama raised Jessica and her two sisters. Bernadette, and Marcelle. All they want is for their sister to be happy. New Magazine to come out called Living large. Eleanor wants Russell to find the new face of Living Large magazine. He has two weeks to do it. Russell thinks Jessica is that model. Jessica has to make a decision that will change her life forever. Jessical leaves her restaurant to become a model.
Eleanor tells Jessica that Russell's words are nothing more than just words. Jessica takes it to mean that Eleanor is in love with Russell. Jessica is cold to Russell and it's really, really hard to do because she does love Russell. Eleanor let's Jessica know she wants Russell and Jessica is taken aback. I thought the ending was very nice, and I loved how Russell and Jessica defy Eleanor.
2. Tempting Fate - Brenda Jackson
If I could give this story a 10 I would!!!! Blake Savoy is on a much needed vacation in Alexandria, VA. Tonya his favorite cousin needs a big favor. Tanya started a lingerie company called Tonya's temptations for full figured women. She needs Blake to take pictures of a model. She needs to have him take pictures of model Justice Manning. Justice is a huge commitment phobe, but she wants to try and change her attitude regarding relationships. She finds out her ex is marrying someone else after she turned him down. Justice is a size 16. Blake has not been with a woman since divorcing his wife who he caught cheating. He has not wanted to be serious with a woman at all. Blake and Justice fall in love, but keeps their feelings to themselves. Blake says nothing, because he knows how Justice feels about commitment. Justice speaks to her mother and she realizes she has to take a chance, or risk losing Blake forever. This story was hot!!! The love scenes between these two were so sizzling I would love to meet a Blake of my own!!! Whew!!!
3. When wishes come true - Monica Jackson
Topaz singer is celebrating her 30th birthday with her friends, Cherice, Rosaline and Brandy. Topaz makes a wish for true love. Her high school sweetheart appears. Ray Gains is with his cousin Jonathan Brnum. Topaz is under the impression Ray is her wish come true. Jon has had a crush on Topaz for a long time and he really cares about her. Seeing Topaz has made his crush on her come alive once again. Topaz is so thinking that Ray is the one for her she has no idea how much Jon really feels. Dancing with Jon they are in perfect harmony, and then Ray comes and messes up their groove.
Ray looks at being with Topaz as a business arrangement. Topaz wants to be alone with Ray, but is having a hard time. Topaz tries one more time for sparks with Ray, and he is not up to the task. Ray should have been "man" enough to be honest about what his intentions are. The story ended nice, and Topaz was finally able to realize that Jon, not Ray was her dream come true.
4. The Wright Woman - Francis Ray
Michael is a landscaper and it's his own business. Michael has been single since April Carter. April Carter is beautiful, successful, and a big gold digger. He kept meeting women that liked his money, more then they liked him. He wanted to find a woman that was into him. Michael is looking for his shopaholic mother. Walks into Texas chic and is smitten with the Associate manager Stephanie. Stephanie is a size 20. Michael said he did not want a wife, but a nice trust worthy girlfriend. Michael is trying not to place Stephanie in the same category as his ex girlfriend April. Stephanie is nervous about opening up her heart. Their relationship grows and Michael is struggling to keep his feelings in check, but he realizes the fight is futile. He is trying to figure how to tell Stephanie he owns his own business. When he does tell her she is angry he did not trust her enough to share that and not think she was a gold digger.
I loved how this story progress. They dated and things did not get physical right away. This was an excellent story by Francis Ray and it flowed nicely. I usually don't like her work, but I enjoyed this story immensely.
Lotta Love.......2004-09-15
I enjoyed these short stories. Being a fan of Mrs.Jackson and Mrs.Ray inspired me to buy the book but I also enjoyed Mrs.Hill and Mrs.M. Jackson's stories as well. It's good to see authors showing the big girls love.

Customer Reviews:
I think it should be a movie! :-) .......2005-11-21
If True Lies was doable as a movie(which I loved, by the way) and Mr. and Mrs. Smith was a doable movie, then this book could be a great movie too. I loved it. It was funny, smart, cute and yes a little too unbelievable but that is what makes it a good book. I read to get away from the believable. Tallie was my favorite, then Felicia. Most of the charactors were three D... There were a few in the back ground like in any book. I hated when I knew the ending was near because I didn't want it to end. If you want believable, get NON-fiction!!
Fun and complelling!.......2005-10-30
I'm usually a 5 to 10-pages a night reader, but on this book I read more than 100 pages each night and had to force myself to turn off the light. This was an extremely well crafted mystery. The dual heroines were likeable; there was a nice romance; and the intrigue never let up. You can bet I'll be reading more of Stephanie Bond's romantic suspense.
Very disappointing.......2005-03-11
I threw this book at the wall. After a promising beginning, the story went downhill fast. The ending was beyond ridiculous.
Middle of the Road Read.......2005-02-28
I've read better and I've read worse but, overall, I'd recommend this book for it's light reading, spots of humor, and smidge of romance. Basically, 3 friends in the publishing industry set out to humiliate a man who has been destroying their personal lives and careers. However, their stunt goes awry when the man ends up dead and the 3 women are suspects. The mystery of `who done it' kept me reading, but the conclusion to the mystery wasn't really satisfying. I also wish the author had explored the romances a bit more; there was a lot of chemistry between a few characters in the book but it wasn't a primary storyline. I would read a Stephanie Bond book again though and hope for a little more fun.
Stephanie Bond is great!.......2004-12-30
After a decade of reading Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown and Susan Elizabeth Philips, I was looking for a new author. I picked up a Stephanie Bond novel at a hotel book exchange and was hooked. She's a great writer! I have read three of her books so far and they are all witty, fun and well-written.

Love, lust and distrust!.......2007-09-30
DeiIra Smith Collard's book "Love Lust & A Whole Lotta Distrust" started off with a band and ended with a bigger bang!!!! She told a tale of four women who work together and some of them even play together. Then comes the betrayal and the decit. It keeps you on your toes and wanting more from the start. Just wonderfully written!
Thanks for sharing DeiIra!
Are You Serious?.......2007-09-19
Breakups, cheating spouses and plenty of sex are found between the pages of Love Lust & A Whole Lotta Distrust by DeiIra Smith Collard. Synegy Wireless is the home-away- from-home for these four vivacious, sexually-charged women. Nicole and Kendra are best friends, but Nicole is a ruthless, loveless, manipulating woman who will stop at nothing to get the man of her dreams. Even if that means hurting and destroying her best friend's marriage.
Carmell and Natina are hired at the same time, and build a quick friendship but Natina has ulterior motives and crosses the line as far as Carmell is concerned. When will these women grow up and stop fighting over men; men who do not belong to them or who are only interested in them for sex?
There are a lot of secrets and lies hidden behind the walls of Synergy Wireless. And Natina and Nicole are out to share everyone's hidden lives. Take this wild ride with four crazy, deranged, depressed and in denial woman as they make you double check yourself. Did I ever act like that? Or, I know someone who acts just like that!
I found myself trying to predict what was going to happen next and if they would continuously keep making the same mistakes. This is a very entertaining book and you will keep asking yourself why as you turn the pages to see the outcome.

simply superb.......2002-07-29
This book seems to be nothing more than another retelling of the Arthurian legends. But it is so much more than that. It majestically weaves colorful characters and intriguing storylines with a fresh plot. I highly recommend it for any fans of Celtic legends and certainly any Arthur fans.
Wow. Arthur in the Stars.......2002-02-28
In what has to be one of the most original takes on the Arthurian mythos, Patricia Kennealy-Morrison places Arthur's early years in Keltia, as a rising star and prince in the struggle to free the Keltic worlds and Keltia from the Theocracy and the Death-Druid that has taken power. All this seen though the eyes of Arthur's foster brother, who becomes one of Keltia's greatest bards and mate to Arthur's sister, Morgan. Very well done - and leaves you wanting more.

Best Arthurian Trilogy yet!!.......2002-02-10
I have been a fan of Arthurian legend forever. This series is my favorite of all time. The characters feel like friends you've known or you wish you had known. The places come alive like no book I've ever read. I knew how the story was to end but cried anyway. PKM's books are my favorite of all time. I recommend this series as well as her other series. She is a great author and shame on the publishers for not continuing with her work, the way she AND her fan/consumers wish.
best of the Keltiad series.......1999-02-27
I have read this book 8-10 times and the language Ms. Morrison finds to express her characters thoughts and emotions never ceases to amaze me and bring tears to my eyes. Arthur's speech to the crowd is the best example of this, and it is truly magical how an earthling (?) like Ms. Morrison can tell us what Arthur would say.

Whether you're recovering from back surgery or looking for a decent full-body workout, Pilates has something to offer--and this practical kit from well-known guru Brooke Siler pulls a complicated system together with finesse. Emphasizing equal stretching and strengthening of the muscles (especially those throughout the torso, referred to as "the powerhouse"), Pilates mat work is conveniently portable thanks to its total lack of fancy equipment. Combining a video with Pilates is asking for poor muscular alignment and a lot of mental distraction, so while the kit's components may seem a little old-fashioned, they're both effective and appropriate. Two CDs and 70 illustrated flash cards work together to supply visual and oral cues for each exercise; a simple book and exercise journal complete the package. With a portable player, you'll have private instruction in public gyms or hotels without expensive classes or tight schedules. The first disk provides a solid grounding in the fundamentals and progresses up the ladder. Many postures are possible for everyone, regardless of fitness level, and it's also a good backup for advanced students if an accident or illness forces you to start again from scratch. The second disk takes you through the intermediate exercises, some of which may be difficult (or impossible) at first but remain inspiring--Siler's gentle authority and creative metaphors make it easy to visualize a day when we'll all be as lean, strong and flexible as she is. --Jill Lightner

Helpful for a daily routine.......2006-08-08
I love this CD. It is like actually doing a mat class in my house. The pacing is great. The exercises and their order are exactly what I get in my classical Pilates mat classes. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that I want a few MORE mat classes. At this point I do the same 22 minute workout every day. I think it would be fairly easy to put a couple more on the CD with varying exercises. I am an intermediate Pilates student, and I feel that I need more workout than this CD offers. I'd like to try some more exercises at home, but I prefer to have a guide. However, having this straightforward class to do at home has been great! I am now doing Pilates every day!
wonderful set!.......2006-03-14
I love pilates and have used variety of pilates equipment, dvds, books, , but was confused how to feel and move from powerhouse, also how to breath position my body correctly. I knew something was lacking from my form and the various dvds and books did not help, either they were confusing, or the workouts were tedious, joyless. After using this set, I realized that you cannot "see" the fine details of pilates, by looking at someone else doing the movement, You have to find them through tuning into your own body. Pilates is subtle, complex. and wonderful to do when you grasp the basics. This set shows me what it must be like to train with top trainer. Wow! what a gift. It is like having one of the best trainers in your room, giving you private instruction! Now I understand and feel my powerhouse and know how to breath and how to use my breath and powerhouse to do the exercises. and have much clearer understanding of correct positions, movements of exercises than I ever did from the other sources. Plus she makes it fun. What a difference! If you've never seen the pilates exercises, then it might be helpful to borrow video or dvd from library and to see the basic movements. then take it back, and use this set to learn the details, to learn how to do them correctly, with joy, from one of the best trainers out there.
Objectively the best.......2006-02-28
i'm not a big reviewer but think its time to put in some effort. I have her Book and i also have the Essential Mat DVD, Alycea's Portable Pilates and also On the Ball with Lizbeth garcia.
Brooke's books is the definite essential as everyone says but her Body Kit is fantastic here's why :
The 2 DVDs are akin to doing it in a studio environment, no pausing, no silly stops in between
Her flashcards are informative and whilst they explain the basics have enough depth for intermediate users. simple things like visualizations, little arrows is what distinguishes a great pilates dvd from good. Pilates is so subtle, sometimes its so hard to get it right esp on your own at home.
I think the least useful DVD for me was the Essential Series - i think its great for teachers and people who have been doing pilates for yrs and more as a historical, ref book, its not so useful for those who just want a weekly, daily workout.
My only problem is a lack of discipline on my part.
I hope this helps in your buying decision.
CALL IT PILATES TO GO.......2005-09-23
THIS KIT IS IN A GREAT 6 by 6 inch petite travel box, with demo cards, cd and is perfect to take along with you travel or workout with group. It's better than the course I tried to keep up with at an expesive health spa, even if your a beginner it's comprehensive and well paced. EXCELLENT BEGINNER TO ADVANCED!
Good I guess.......2005-08-02
Like any exercise product it's only good if you use it. I liked the concept of listening to a cd version of pilates class instead of trying to do the moves while looking at a tv screen. I would have given it four stars but for some reason my cd will pause at weird times and then begin to play again. Other than that is't good I guess.
