This is a very good book for all coaches. If you like to work all the basic stuff for your team, you can get some ideas from this book. I managed to work some of the exercises in my team [youths at age of 13 (boys)] and I have very good results...

This book is a classic. I can not believe that there are not more reviews giving this book the priase it deserves. If you want to become better at basketball you must not only practice consistantly, but you must know the correct techniques and moves to practice. This book is basically a complete reference of drills for every position that have been used at the nations premire basketball camp - five star. When Trajon Langdon started out as a freshman at duke this book recieved a lot of attention because Trajon, being from Alaska, did not have great exposure to a wide variety of basketball camps. Trajon bought this book and used the drills in it to make him the player he became. Every highschool player and coach should own a copy of this book if they are serious about improvement.

There are a great variety of drills from all over the country and different programs, and they encompass every skill development need and many possible numbers of players I could be working with at any one time. It is a great boost to my normal practice plan and drills.

Mediocre and not really money well spent.......2006-08-16
I've read quite a few basketball drill books and since I am now coaching a girls' team I thought I would brush up on my knowledge base before the season started. I bought 5 books and this one was the worst of those. To be honest the diagrams are not good, there are many mistakes and the drills are not always explained thoroughly. Also, since there are several coaches that contributed to this book you can find the same drills listed again but with a different name. Not a well-written book. If you are thinking about a drills oriented book or one on general coaching (both x's and o's and teaching technique like shooting form, defense, etc.) I would suggest buying "The Complete Guide to Coaching Girls' Basketball" by Sylvia Hatchell. A much better book and for about the same price.
Decent drill book could use some editing.......2005-12-16
If you're stuck for some useful drills, this guide has many, many drills separated into categories. One of the negatives is that the drills are written by different HS & college coaches throughout the US and they are not edited to have the same voice, vocabulary, etc. Some have compete explanations of the drills, while some assume a lot. The drill diagrams use different symbols depending on the author and the details differ. Sometimes they are broken down into clear steps, while sometimes one diagram is chock full of Xs and lines for a multi-step play.
Another negative is that there are so many drills, and many of them very similar, it actually takes some time to digest it all and discern which would work for your team.
A good drill book on the whole but there is room for improvement.

Championship Chili, It Really Is .......2006-10-12
Championship Chili is one of ten chili books I refer to when I want to make chili differently than the two recipes I usually use. We have chili a lot in our house and both my Dad and my Mama have their favorite ways of cooking it. I grew up with their recipes and I have documented them in one of my "Amazon So You'd Like to Guides" and I hope you take a look at it. Both recipes are delicious, but when you've had them as often as I've had 'em, you sort of yearn for something a bit different. So, once a week, usually on Saturdays, I break out these ten books and search for a chili recipe I either haven't tried, or one I haven't made in a long time. Of course, like all cooks, I fudge a bit with the ingredients, but not all that much. I like to stick pretty close to the recipes, at least the first few times I make it, so I can get an idea of what the writer/recipe maker had intended.
And let me tell you, you'd be surprised at the subtleties there are in a chili recipe. As they say, no two chile recipes were created equal, but the recipes in Championship Chili have never let me down. I've got a lot of chili books, have tried a lot of recipes over the years, but the recipes here, like the recipes in my other nine fave books, have been consistently good. You can't go wrong with Championship Chili.
Don't believe all in Book.......2004-08-04
The book gives a great history to Chili cookoffs. It also has great recepies although they all don't tell the whole story of the recepies. I have tried several and haven't won with any of them yet. Yes I consider myself a chili head and I am still looking for that perfect recepie. Thought this book would help. Probably will if I conbine several recepies together. Very easy book to read. Really enjoyed it.
