Book Description
A young woman finds $200,000 in cash in a cardboard box delivered to her door. A man inherits a fortune from a father who died "penniless." Amy Parkens and Ryan Duffy have never met, but they are about to, as each discovers that found money can be a godsend––or a nightmare.
Amy Parkens is a struggling single mother forced to abandon a career in astronomy for a practical computer job. She feels condemned to long hours, low pay, and no time to spend with her daughter. Then an unmarked package arrives. There's no card, no note, no return address. Someone has simply sent her a small fortune. Amy has no idea who––or why. She only knows her dead–end life has changed forever.
Though she longs to keep the cash, Amy fears a mistake, a setup, or even a possible connection to her mother's mysterious suicide twenty years earlier. She has to find the source. But when she tries to look her gift horse in the mouth, someone snatches the money away––quickly, violently.
Ryan Duffy is a decent, responsible man, a small–town physician from the plains of southeastern Colorado. Like Amy, Ryan has recently found unexpected wealth. His father's estate is worth more than Ryan could ever have imagined––millions more. Truth is, Dad was a hardworking electrician for forty–years. But in his attic, he hid a fortune. The Duffy family has been guarding this secret. Was it extortion, burglary, or some other shocking crime? And now that Ryan has the money, what should he do?
Painful as it is, Ryan is drawn to his father's dark past. Amy, on the same desperate quest for answers, soon crosses Ryan's path. Their search takes them through a labyrinth of deception and blackmail, leading to a man of unfathomable power.
Yet the past is not what it appears. Heinous crimes touched their families years ago. Amy and Ryan must solve a treacherous puzzle to learn why the true victims never came forward, why the real wrongdoers went unpunished, and why certain people would kill to keep their secrets.
Customer Reviews:
Gosh, NO, I Really Didn't Like This. Read Why........2007-10-01
The initial premise was great. You find a fortune in your attic, no one knows about it, it's in small bills, been there for years, not counterfeit, no one's looking for it, you can do whatever you wish with it. After my initial disgust with the hero's (hero?) over zealous need to make sure this money is "untainted", that he really has a legal right to it, I began to develop an interest in the somewhat complicated plot, even though the writing was not stellar. But the ending pissed me off. Totally unrealistic shoot um up scene with way too many contrived twists in the plot. I didn't buy it; I didn't like it. I was sorry I invested so much time for such a lame payoff. I had expected something more satisfying.
One of Grippando's best..........2007-03-26
This is a twisted story, but WELL WORTH the read, you won't want to put it down from the minute you start it to the very last page. Excellent. So many previews have already gone through the story plot, so I won't repeat...just get the book...it's a great read!
Wow!!!.......2006-08-02
What a novel!
An expertly wirtten tale that keeps you guessing on a real roller-coaster ride the whole way through. Grippando writes intelligently, without too much insider law jargon.
This was my second Grippando adventure and it will certainly NOT be my last. One reviewer wrote how stupid the premise for the story was, saying in real life people wouldn't care where the money came from or why. Well thats rediculous. You mean to tell me if $200,000 came in the mail today in a myserious unarked box that you wouldn't bat an eye to see why it arrived? Besides, its a story, and Grippando take the ball and runs with it superbly.
I really had no complaints and would reccomend this to anyone.
Perhaps I have become too jaded..........2005-06-25
Having read a number of Grippando's books, I found this to be the least credible plot line of all. Why did everyone need to find out where the money came from? And what good did it do them in the end? Let's be real here...If someone handed you $200,000 or more, would you really need to know the why's and wherefore's in order to enjoy it? Or you could be stupid like the characters in this book and then what will you end up with?
I am glad that this is one of Grippando's earlier works because his newer novels are much better than this. Try "Last to Die" or "A King's Ransom".
Ending have not got what it takes.......2004-10-30
Departing from a original idea Grippando created a very well conceived suspensed novel with a string of events carefully developed
Two strong characters appear in the plot, with lives destined to clash
The main one is Ryan, a doctor destined to a confortable material life that he forfeited in exchange for his professionals services in a small rural community for the despair of his divorced golddigging wife
The other is, Amy a talented tough minded would be astronomer young woman who is also a single mother that works in charge of the system network of a Colorado middle size law firm whose top manager also had a relation with Ryan's father past
Both of them have received a huge sum of money from the late Ryan's father, a former blue collar worker, and that is where the mystery begins surrounded by tales of blackmailing, rape, a powerful tycoon and safeboxs and accounts in sleazy offshore banks
The story is very well written and compelling all the way to a lackluster ending which might have been far better had the author thought a bit more, looks like he did not want to commit to a last brain push.

Creating Billions in Just 15 Years !!!.......2006-01-24
When Money Is King: How Revlon's Ron Perelman Mastered the World of Finance to Create One of America's Greatest Business Empires, and Found Glamour, Beauty, and the High Life in the Bargain, by Richard Hack
This is a great book to gain an understanding of how a one man force can create a multibillion-dollar empire in just 15 years through buying, selling and restructuring companies at a frenzied pace. This book is similar to most of the books I have reviewed both on Amazon and on my blog (at - bloglines.com/blog/KevinKingston ) in that an empire builder (Ron Perelman in this case) has the common characteristics of a super achiever, he is: drive, has tremendous courage and confidence and he has the all important understanding of the importance of cash flow.
The book starts out by explaining how Ron's relationship with his father was all about business, balance sheets and cash flow while growing up. He would sit in on board meetings with his father starting at age 11 and study financial statements after school instead of playing ball.
In 1961 as his freshman year in college came to an end he pursued a buy out of a Pennsylvania family owned Brewery for $800,000. Three years later his father and he sold it for a profit of $1,000,000. This deal gave him the adrenaline rush on which entrepreneurs thrive. The victory was sweet-and-addicting. Ron was hooked! He then married into a $100 million dollar fortune and it's deal mania from then on.
The key to Ron's success is the use of leverage, the understanding of cash flow and his ability to see and create value where others don't. It is no small task to take in money (Milken money) at a cost, in the area of 14.5% through the issuance of junk bonds and put it to work buying business that can not only pay the heavy debt load but generate handsome profits as well. This is really the key to most great fortunes, to understand how to borrow money and put it to work so it creates cash flow and builds equity over time.
The details of the corporate takeover battle for Revlon is a must read for those interested in finance. A deposition of Ron on pages 193-204 regarding a law suit by a former executive is totally comical. When asked a few questions his answer was. "I'm not going to tell you". This set the tone for the deposition and also gives you a sense of Ron's personality. Also interesting is Ron's love of long private walks and his yearning to be in bed by 10pm every night.
There is a lot to learn from this book to be sure.
By Kevin Kingston, author of, "A 20,000% Gain in Real Estate"
High on fluff low on actual substance.......2003-11-12
I must say I was disappointed as soon as I perused the first few pages of the book. I was expecting a more business-oriented and substantive read but was disheartened by the excessive concentration on impertinent personal details on Ron's life that the average businessperson doesn't give a hoot about. The actual deals are mentioned in passing while the reader is forced to suffer through interminable fluff. Vendors should place this book as close as possible to the tabloid section of the bookstore.

Book Description
By learning a powerful technique widely used by world class athletes - and one you can do from the comfort of your couch - this book literally tells you how to win the lottery. It is not a book about how to better your odds, increase your luck, or play some new system. Instead, it simply says this: Winning the lottery is a mind game. FOUND MONEY explains how to play the game. Included are complete lottery listings for the U.S., Canada and the World.
Customer Reviews:
COME ON what are you talking about.......2004-12-16
If you're looking for ways of improving the odds of winning any lottery well then forget about this book, this book is about having a nice pink dream world inside your head, may be helpful for some people, but for real life I think it's just a waist of time, specially if you're looking for a better way of playing a lotto. (some people says playing lotto is also a waist of time, well maybe, but if you're a lotto fan REALLY FORGET ABOUT THIS BOOK)
save your money for therapist or lottery.......2004-06-02
The following quote comes from the author Keith Ryan himself: "Our lives are good, and we made that happen, and I have been observing how we did it ever since I realized that we did it." Hmmmm, if you understand that strange logic, then perhaps you'll grasp some benefit from this disturbing little manual - that, at best, diverts money away from state lotteries and directly into the hands of the author. In that sense, he is effectively using the concept of "lottery" to enrich his own self-proclaimed idyllic and scenic life by the lake with his psychologist wife. So I'll give the book two stars for being at least authoritative in a shifty, sort of tongue-in-cheek way.
While his website can be mildly amusing, when not as disturbing as this book, (and his love for animals is endearing), I sincerely hope he is getting proper treatment from his live-in shrink. For this work is like the Benny Hinn of the publishing/lottery/psycho-something or other realms, truly failing to satisfy at any level; and leaving one simply perplexed and suspicious that we probably WOULD have won the lottery had we spent the price of the book on lottery tickets.
Very disappointing.......2003-07-31
Over half the page count is just a listing of all the United States and Canada Lottery offices. It maybe has 50 pages of content, double-spaced and very generalized information. No specifics about his story and there are much better visualization books out there. Save your money...buy Lotto tickets with it!
This Book Is A Waste Of Your Money.......2003-06-29
Basically, the message of this book is, "You can win the lottery if you just think positively about it." Which is ridiculous, of course. You can win the lottery even if you're a pessimistic jerk about it. Not buying a ticket is the only thing that disqualifies you from winning. The people who run the lottery systems don't know or care how you feel about it. Some reviewers have said this is a good book for changing your "life perspective". Whatever. I'm sure Amazon has a Self Help section with many books on that subject, and they probably aren't as deceptive as this book.
Deceptive.......2002-09-14
I bought this book hoping for some kind of strategy points on the hitting lottery. What this book gives you instead is a course in "positive thinking" which would be fine, if I were buying a book on that subject. Winning the lottery and this book have nothing in common.

Jessica Hides money in tennis racket.......2005-01-24
When Mr.Wakefield decides he can trust Jessica,He gives Jessica money,I forget how much to a neighbor,so Jessica goes on her bike, but she's stopped by Caroline Pierce, the biggest gossip in Sweet Valley. The time she gets to the neighbor's house he already left. The next morning,She gets up,goes to the place where she hid the money in a Tennis racket pocket,It is gone, and the neighbor already left for his vacation.Steven took the racket.I think.
enjoyable.......2001-08-02
I really like this book..it is all about Jessica chasing some misplaced money around town..she even poses as a waitress in a cafe as part of her schemes which is fun.
Not the best Sweet Valley Twins book in the series.......2000-12-17
This isn't one of the best Sweet Valley Twins books. After the first time I read this, I thought, "Huh? What just happened?" It just didn't make too much sense. I also don't understand why Jessica hid the money in the tennis racket. If she was just hiding it for one night, why couldn't she hide it in her desk or her drawer? I always thought it was a little more than a coincidence that the tennis racket, which had been there for weeks, just happened to be used that very morning. I like the Sweet Valley Twins books very much, but I do not recommend this one.

Product Description
Eight Cassettes - James Grippandos best-selling novels include The Abduction and The Informant. In Found Money, Grippando draws on his years of experience as a trial lawyer and acclaimed storyteller to create a suspenseful thriller that draws and redraws the fine line between a blessing and a curse. Even as he mourns his fathers recent, painful death, small town doctor Ryan Duffy is facing an expensive divorce. Suddenly, when he discovers millions of dollars in his fathers attic, the baffled young man is faced with two questions. Where did a modest electrician get this much money? Can Ryan keep it? Several hundred miles away, Amy Parkens has received an unexpected fortune, toofrom the same source. As Ryan and Amy are brought together by their search for answers, they learn that there are powerful people who will do anything to silence them and get the cash. Veteran narrator George Guidalls performance keeps pace with the twisting path that takes Found Money to an explosive conclusion.
Book Description
In the conclusion to the acclaimed Changeling Saga, the ruler of Castle plans to meld the magic of his world with the technology of Earth.
Customer Reviews:
Rises above mere formula fantasy.......2007-10-04
The Changeling Saga (The Changeling War, The Sorcerer's Gun, and The Magic Dead) literally begins with a bang, as a mobster shoots middle class executive Alan Clark in front of his home. This seemingly isolated event triggers a domino effect that not only changes the life of Clark and his family, but also the lives of the inhabitants of three worlds.
Millennia before the events related in this trilogy, travel and trade between these worlds was common. Due to the evil machinations of several power mad Judges (i.e. wizards) and the so-called High Ones, however, the gates between the worlds were closed. With that closure, the knowledge of the alternate worlds also disappeared - only a select few remain aware of their sister realities.
Even so, interaction between the worlds has not been totally eradicated. For instance, the powerful mage known as the Pale Man has set up shop on Earth as a fixer, intervening in human affairs in return for future favors from his desperate customers. One such favor results in the shooting of Clark by mobster Joe Beast. Unbeknownst to the Pale Man, Clark is the adoptive father of a Changeling, a mystical being born on the world known as The Castle, but secreted on Earth to mature without interference. A young man of great, if as yet untapped power, Brian Clark is destined to play a major role in subsequent events; his spiritual and emotional odyssey forms the backbone of this sprawling tale.
Author Peter Garrison (a pseudonym for veteran fantasy and horror scribe Craig Shaw Gardner) has described the trilogy as "Pulp Fiction meets Lord of the Rings". His stated objective: blending elements of modern day thrillers with those prevalent in the world of fantasy. A tough task, certainly, but one that Gardner pulls off with deceptive ease as mobsters and mages clash. Sporting a huge cast of characters and myriad story lines, the Changeling Saga is rich with memorable incident and teeming with action. It's a curious blend of several genres and styles of writing. In addition to its darker elements, this adventure also contains some deeply humorous moments--in my personal favorite, alien warriors visit Earth and try to blend in by disguising themselves in loud Hawaiian shirts. You have to be patient for these moments, however, as the majority come in the final volume, The Magic Dead; the first two installments are, in hindsight, merely setting the table for the events of the final volume (which itself is open ended, suggesting that sequels are possible).
Although a bit overlong, The Changeling Saga is on the whole a strongly written, well-constructed tale--the juxtaposition of the magical and the ordinary is milked for all it's worth, and its myriad characters are uniformly lively and memorable. Crafted by an accomplished storyteller, this edgy, charming, character-driven adventure rises above mere formula fantasy. Garrison manages to breathe new life in to many stock fantasy tropes, allowing readers to look at them from a fresh perspective--big, daring, often times manic, the Changeling Saga is a breath of fresh air for those who've grown weary of by-the-numbers fantasy.
Frusterated.......2001-03-26
ending? uh.... what ending?
The Magic Dead.......2000-04-07
The Saga continues as Growler teaches Brian how to become a Maker. Back on Earth, Mrs. Mendeck teaches Karen how to control her powers while being chased by the Pale Man. Gontor and company go to earth and ally themselves with the Petranova's against the Pale Man. The Pale Man is captured and the company returns to Castle with him. The renegade judges and everyone else (it seems like) meet near the gate at the end of the book. The gate is opened and now the Changelings are free to leave Aubric. Everyone is happy, etc. The only problem with this book is the ending. It ends really abrubtly, while there is room for much more. Yet this is the final book in the saga. Maybe it isn't so bad after all...it leaves you wanting more....

Customer Reviews:
Different from the rest!.......2006-08-03
The main reason we like this drug reference better than the others is that it shows, clearly in a nice chart, interactions with other medications as well as recreational drugs like alcohol, marijuana and others. Very helpful!
Excellent Reference Book!.......2006-05-22
This book is easy to read and understand. It provides the generic and brand names associated with each drug class along with information regarding uses for the drug. Each drug class provides the following information; dosage and usage information, overdose symptoms and what to do, what the drug does, time lapse before the drug works and symptoms of possible adverse reactions or side effects along with if the side effects are life-threatening, common, infrequent or rare and if you should continue using the drug or discontinue and seek medical attention right away, warnings and precautions, such as prolonged use, driving, etc. It also provides a list of possible interactions with other drugs and other substances (Alcohol, Beverages, Cocaine, Foods, Marijuana and Tobacco) and the combined effect of using the drugs/substances together.
The "Complete Guide" is Not Very Complete.......2006-03-08
Notwithstanding the L. A. Times describing this book as easy-to-use and informative, I found it close to useless. The basic problem is that it does not give information for any individual drugs - it gives info only for drug classes. As an example, I tried to get information on using Cipro for travelers' diarrhea. I had to look up Cipro in the index, where I was referred to the fluoroquinolones section, which lists Cipro along with 12 other wide-spectrum antibotics. There is no Cipro-specific information regarding usage, dosage, or anything else. (Nor was there any mention of travelers' diarrhea.) Since the information covers 13 distinct, although related, drugs, the information is necessarily very generalized. By way of contrast, The Essential Guide to Prescription Drugs 2006, which I purchased at the same time, does provide descriptions for individual drugs, and it lists travelers' diarrhea as one of the off-label uses for Cipro. The PDR Family Guide also lists individual drugs.

Does the thought of cooking from scratch make you panic? Do you stand in front of your supermarket's canned vegetables display frozen with indecision? Is your fridge filled with takeout containers, and your oven used for storage? If you answered these questions with an emphatic "Yes," Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade Cooking might be the cookbook for you.
There are plenty of excellent quick-and-easy cookbooks out there, but this book feels like a cross between a giant advertisement and one of those free recipe books you get with mail-in proofs of purchase. Every ingredient that can possibly be branded is labeled as such. Lee's Salad Chinois is made with Swanson premium chunk chicken breast, Kikkoman soy sauce, McCormick ground ginger, Hellman's or Best Foods mayonnaise, La Choy chow mein noodles, Fresh Express prepared green salad, Chun King chow mein vegetables, and Dole mandarin orange segments. Gnocchi Dippers are whipped up with Alessi gnocchi, Bertolli olive oil, and, believe it or not, Kraft Velveeta cheese. The Malibu Rum Cake includes Malibu Rum, Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe yellow cake mix, and Jell-O vanilla instant pudding. And not only does Lee dictate brand names, she chimes in with advice on music and wine selections, as well. One can only hope that Wolfgang Puck wrote the introduction to this book without ever seeing it. --Leora Y. Bloom

What took me so long?!.......2007-05-25
Why did I wait so long to get this book I had heard so much about??? It is fantastic - so quick, great recipes, great photography....and easy to make your dish look like the photo!
semi-homemade cooking.......2007-05-14
This book did not live up to the expectations from the TV show. I expected more of the Sandra Lee personality and comments in it. Recipes were not the simple every day ones she usually does on the show.
There is a place for Sandra Lee.......2007-03-04
My mom bought this book for me and I read through some of the comments that people posted here (both positive and negative). As a working mom with a toddler I have to admit that the ease of these recipies is what appeals to me. I like that Sandra Lee offers brand name items to purchase and that many of her recipies are not labor intensive. Do I wish she used more vegetables and fresh ingredients. . . sure. But I also know that I can substitute those in on my own.
Initally I liked that there was a section of kid friendly recipies but this became my big disappointment in the book. Many of her kid recipies are deep fried and I have NO INTENTION of frying food for my child (nor do I own a deep fryer). For many reasons, the biggest of which being that it is simply unhealthy. There is a place for fried food in cooking but I don't think that place is with kids. In this regard, I wish she has provided modifications for baking some items instead.
Rip Off of previous Book.......2007-02-02
I'm so mad! I got this supposedly "new" Cookbook and when it came it looked identicall to the first cookbook expcept her picture on the front is different! I bought the same book from Sandra Lee 2 years ago!! Same damn pictures and same damn recipes are in this "new" Cookbook! Don't waste your money I'm returning mine today!
Wonderful Recipes for a Quick and Healthy Meal!.......2007-02-01
Another great purchase of the Sandra Lee cookbooks to add to my collection. Recipes so quick and easy to prepare. ~ Thank you Sandra Lee for making cooking enjoyable again for women everywhere!
