Book Description
Her family's cottage on the New Jersey shore was a place of freedom and innocence for Julie Bauer--until her seventeen-year-old sister, Isabel, was murdered.
It's been more than forty years since that August night, but Julie's memories of her sister's death still shape her world. Now someone from her past is raising questions about what really happened that night. About Julie's own complicity. About a devastating secret her mother kept from them all. About the person who went to prison for Izzy's murder--and the person who didn't.
Faced with questions and armed with few answers, Julie must gather the courage to revisit her past and untangle the complex emotions that led to one unspeakable act of violence on the bay at midnight.

A Definite Keeper!!.......2007-09-14
Up all night!! What an amazing writer! This is my 3rd book by this author and they just keep getting better. Definitely not a one dimentional book, you are put inside the mind of every character. I love the way they each look back and uncover their involvement in Isabel's death. The family emotions, the personal struggles, and how our past actions in life always circle back around. Highly recommended!!
Not sure what book everyone else read...........2007-08-29
I generally love Diane Chamberlain, and own all of her books (and have re-read them multiple times). This book just did not hit the mark with me. I got about a quarter of the way through it and realized I just did not care AT ALL about these characters, about the mystery and about the book. Stopped reading immediately because I realized that my time was better spent elsewhere.
ANOTHER WINNER.......2007-01-26
This book will make you laugh and cry. Storyline and characters are believable. Ms Chamberlain at her best. A page turner!!!
Life comes full circle-sometimes.......2006-10-15
Not only does C. Chamberlain give us a love story, a mystery, etc., she reminds us of what it was like "way back when"...also...a story that comes full circle. She has done it again, and I can't write enough about her books. This one is one of my favorites...who would have thought that after SO many years, a mystery would be solved???
Still disturbing.......2006-01-04
I am still disturbed several days after I've finished this book, even after reading another. I don't know what bothers me the most. The cavalier way the characters dismiss the racism inherent (and I'm not giving away the mystery) in the conviction and death of a falsely accused black teen-aged boy -- or the cavalier way the author uses it as a plot device, only tied up by the most cursory scene.
The book's mystery is rewarding, the author's use of the first person is not.
Book Description

But magic has a way of changing things... The Way You Look Tonight by Vivien Dean: A charming sequel to Two Lives in Waltz Time, Maddy and Cash have one last night in the U.S. before moving to England, and Cash intends to make the most of it. Enjoy a little Halloween spirit all year round!.......2007-01-16
UNDER THE SPELL by Kallysten
When Tina was a child, her grandmother often brought her to the `magical' bookstore. Tina loved watching her grandmother and friend recite spells and incantations and the magic that would thrill her. Almost twenty years later, Tina revisits the "Other Worlds" in the hopes of finding a spell that will bring her boyfriend back to her for just one night.
Kallysten pens a charming tale that will have readers anxiously reading to find out what happens next. Does the spell work? Will Tina really be able to obtain her heart's desire through magic?
THE WITCH'S APPRENTICE by Barri Bryan
With no money left to dower his sharp tongue shrew of a daughter, John follows his wife's suggestion and obtains an apprenticeship for Marigold with the witch Endora. For a year and a half she patiently practices each lesson she is taught. Anxious to fly she `borrows' her mentor's broom without being certified only to be broadsided by mage, Diogenes DeVayne. She couldn't have possibly been in the wrong flight lane, could she?
This story is so much fun! I love Marigold's spirited and mouthy personality. I had to laugh at her ballsy comments throughout the story. Poor Diogenes has no idea what to do with her, but plenty of ideas on what to do to her.
ONE MAGICKAL NIGHT by Melanie Anderson
Connor's promotion to director at the investment firm is a huge achievement and he knows just the woman he wants to help him celebrate. Jane works as a waitress at a bar, Connor's been interested in her since he first saw her. He learned from one of the other waitresses that Jane is a witch, which only makes her even more intriguing as far as he's concerned.
Melanie Anderson will charm readers with this little tale. Jane's a hardworking gal who deserves a good man. The fact that she's a witch only adds to her appeal and makes me even more curious about the Wiccan beliefs.
THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT by Vivien Dean
Maddie is about to leave her old life in the United States behind and start a new one with her boyfriend, Cash, in England. She doesn't regret her decision but there's so much she'll be leaving behind when it comes time to board the airplane. Cash plans to make their last night in New York very memorable courtesy of magic glamour he'll use to recreate their room into the likeness of an old oil painting.
I love the thought of being able to use a little magic to alter the world around me, especially when it's done in the loving fashion that is represented here.
NO OTHER MAGIC by Ariel Graham
With a masked charity ball in full force. Carrie escapes the suffocating confines of the ballroom to find peace and quiet on the hotel balcony. She watches as a storm prepares to unleash around her. It's one week until Halloween and as much as she loves the magical season she longs for something real to go with it. In a childish moment, she makes her wishes known to the coming storm - then from the far side of the balcony comes a man's voice . . .
Ariel Graham will pull you into this story with an element of suspense. You'll want to know where the man comes from and why isn't Carrie frightened by his sudden appearance? This is a fascinating journey of self discovery and finding love in the most unexpected places.
BLACK CAT by Cat Johnson
A thousand years ago, just before Samhain, an evil witch cursed Lar to live as a cat. He's seen and endured a lot over the last century, but being neutered has got to be the worst thing imaginable. Belinda adopts him from the shelter, sans his manhood. He'd be thrilled to remain Belinda's `pet' if it wasn't for her loser boyfriend. As Belinda's friends are fond of telling her - karma has a way of getting around and Lar is very grateful for that little fact.
This delightful gem of a story will have readers laughing out loud at the antics of Lars as a cat as well as the devious minds of Belinda's friends. I admit that I loved being privy to Lar's thoughts as a cat . . . especially his opinions on talk shows and neutering.
WITCH OF THE WIND by Lee Rowan
Instead of celebrating Halloween night together, Matt is called out to rescue a young man off the side of a mountain. Meri understands Matt's devotion to helping others. While she waits, she does more than just sit at home waiting and worrying, she visits her little study upstairs where she does everything in her power to ensure he returns safely to her.
Lee Rowan does an amazing job putting together all the elements that make a story you won't be able to put down. Matt and Meri's devotion to each other and their jobs shines through the pages and will give readers a warm feeling even as they worry for Matt's safety.
WITCHES NIGHT includes seven fanciful stories centered around a witch theme. Each story is very different, but they're all delightfully imaginative and will thrill readers looking for a fun holiday read without much of a scare element. All of the authors portray witches in a positive light instead of warts, cauldrons, and nasty concoctions. This is a wonderful anthology that can easily be read and appreciated all year round.

Outstanding!.......2004-07-03
Every artist has a "swan song" within them, perhaps in this case "Mallard Song" is more fitting :)
The love, respect, & thorough care that has gone into Down Barnegat Bay might be unparallelled.
Those of us whose heritage is rooted down Barnegat Bay are deeply indebted to Mr. Jahn for his faithful preservation of our legacy - a legacy which could easily be lost from one generation to another if it were not for Mr. Jahn being there to remind us as life once was down Barnegat Bay. His book will inspire and refresh my reverence & stewardship for my ancestral homeland all the days of my life. . . Coleman R. A fascinating and superbly written historical excursion........2000-09-05
Robert Jahn's Down Barnegat Bay: A Nor'easter Midnight Reader is a wonderfully illustrated maritime history showcasing the New Jersey shore during the Age of Sail. Originally published in 1980, this substantially revised and expanded edition of Jahn's informative and engaging text is superbly illustrated with more than 177 sepia illustrations (including 75 new images and nine maps). Down Barnegat Bay is a fascinating historical excursion covering Native Americans, European exploration and settlement, storms, pirates, ships, shipwrecks, the Life Saving Service, fishing, whaling, as well as the social life and customs of Barnegat baymen and the inevitable development of the region as a seaside tourism destination. Superbly written and presented regional history!
"Down Barnegat Bay"...a trip well worth taking.......2000-08-02
I cherish both my original (1980) and new Sesquicentennial Editions of
this book. Down Barnegat Bay: A Nor'easter Midnight Reader is my
favorite chronicle of the maritime history and folklore of the Jersey
Shore. The historical narratives catapult the reader into an era when
the now densely populated areas along the Barnegat Bay were filled
with sailors, fishermen, Indians and farmers. Tales of shipwrecks,
pirates and the Lenni-Lenapi Indians along the Metedeconk River are
exciting to read and add immensely to the feeling of being
"transported in time" as do the many illustrations that look
as if they were taken from a scrapbook in your great grandparent's
attic (some of them may have been!). Down Barnegat Bay gives the
reader more than an appreciation for an area so rich in maritime
history and folklore..it TAKES them there.
For me personally, being
an avid and routine paddler of the Jersey Shore, Down Barnegat Bay: A
Nor'easter Midnight Reader has transformed my kayak trips on the bay
and canoe trips on the peaceful Metedeconk River into a new communion
with the Shore area land and sea. Paddling "Down Barnegat
Bay", I can experience the exciting, life affirming SynchronicitY
of the past and present moment.
Thank you Robert Jahn.

Book Description
The first book by Paul Kidd in the exciting new shared-world series, "Tales of the Mornmist", created by Lynn Abbey (creator of "Thieves' World") and Ed Greenwood (creator of TSR's "Forgotten Realms" series), "The Rats of Acomar" tells of the bleak, broken wasteland of Acomar, where corrosive metal salts have poisoned the ground, and starvation keeps constant company with death. There, the Rats live... live and die. The bones of their bodies litter the waste, victims, devoured by their brethren, fallen in the endless battles fought over territory and food. The survivors are only the strongest, honed to a razor's edge by the constant struggle to survive... to live, to grow... to breed. In terror of the Rats, after a bloody war, the other races built the great wall, holding them back, keeping them imprisoned in the hellish waste that is Acomar. But with the rising of the Overlord, G'kaa, everything is changing. The clans are uniting, joining together under one massed banner, drenched in the
Customer Reviews:
An Entertaining Read.......2004-10-21
Another wonderful offering from the master of Furry fiction, Paul Kidd brings the two contrasting worlds of Acomar and the Mornmist to life. His stories are filled with personable characters, humour, excitement and also sorrow. Although not so much of the latter in this one as his excellent "Whisper of Wings". "Rats..." is a somewhat lighter read, and very entertaining.
In the desolate plains of Acomar we have the Itheem; rats - breeding, fighting, scavenging and living a brutal and cruel, and short, existence. Amongst these is warrior rat Ra'hish, a dedicated lone-rat, who suddenly finds himself having to look after a dozen youngsters. We also have the albino Oosha and her sister Teela, two young female rats determined to find a beauty in their desolate life. And G'Kaa, warlord, who dreams of leaving the wretched plains of Acomar and invading the beautiful valleys.
On the other side of the border wall we have the Uruth, the canines, keeping their land safe from the "goblin hoards" beyond the wall. One such character is Tupan, a lively and impulsive coyote that has left her wanderer roots and sought out civilisation. Her unwilling companions in her undying endeavours to "fix things" are the grim greyhound, Surolf, and his rather friendlier pony, Hern.
Together these two very different groups will be brought together in alliance, and find out that despite outward appearances, they are not really all that different.
All in all, another grand offering from Paul Kidd. Alas, the other "Mornmist" books appear to not exist (despite having titles and ISBN numbers), so it seems Vision books have evaporated. This is a pity, because I rather liked the world. The "Mornmist" was intended to be one of those "Shared worlds" with books by Elaine Cunningham (who wrote "Daughter of the Drow") amongst others. Alas. But at least they got the first one out
Wonderful!.......2002-09-13
In the broken wasteland of Acomar, a land teeming with starvation and death, the rat Itheem live. Their bones litter the waste, fallen in the endless battles over territory and food. In terror of the Itheem, the canine Uruth built the great wall to keep them imprisoned in Acomar. But with the rising of an overlord, G'Kaa, everything is changing. The Itheem clans are uniting, planning to take the lands of the other races. But what can a free-spirited coyote, Tupan, her greyhound companion Surolf, the pony Hern, and the rebal rat Ra'sish do to stop them? A very good read, simultainously exciting, sad, and laugh out loud funny. Terrie Smith's illustrations are excellent as well. :-)
Paul Kidd's on a roll..........2001-01-19
After reading Paul Kidd's other new book, "A Whisper of Wings", I did a search here on Amazon and came up with The Rats of Acomar. After the delightful experience I had with Whisper, I picked this one up at Barnes & Noble, too. Talk about a slam-bam exciting storyline that grabs you in its teeth and runs! This book is the first in a new series, and if they're all half as good as this one, I suspect it'll be one of the best sellers ever. This series is sort of like, well, a really COOL version of Brian Jacques' Redwall series... but with ten times the excitement and none of the boring food fetish that chokes his books (and their readers) from stem to stern. This story has it all... action, adventure, humor, great villains, quirky heroes and a rich, detailed world. Paul Kidd really seems to have a talent for bringing characters to life, which is only helped by all of the full-page illustrations in the book! You just never see that in most books these days. As a matter of fact, Whisper, Paul Kidd's other novel, was the only other book I've seen with that sort of thing in my last five years of reading. This book, and Whisper, are the two best Paul Kidd books I have read since "Mus of Kerbridge", from TSR. I totally recommend this book. Five gold stars!
An Exciting New World Fantasy !!.......2000-11-06
This is a brand new book by Paul Kidd, the author of numerous popular novels. The Rats of Acomar is fast reading, with vivid word pictures of the events taking place when the mythical Rats rise up to take what they feel is rightfully theirs. I enjoyed reading this science fiction, fantasy and could readily relate to how the mythical events described, really remind one of events actually taking place in real life. Only the players have been changed. Worth reading.

Psycho-Cybernetics.......2007-10-01
The author advises us to keep relaxed as a condition precedent for
success throughout life's daily challenges. Self-image controls or
limits personal accomplishments. The unconscious mind has a goal-servo
mechanism. Our imagination is like an ignition key which opens up the
mind to alternative possibilities. Periodically, we should test
self-imposed limits. The process is described iteratively:
o AIM o TRUST GOALS o RELAX o LEARN o DO/CALL TO ACTION
Goal attainment consists of goal striving, targeting and imagining.
Each of us must test the limits of this process in order to achieve
higher levels of satisfaction.
The author urges us to ignore past failures and strive for better things.
Desire is a powerful human emotion which should be cultivated.
The avoidance of failure triggers recalibration mechanisms which
test the boundaries of success. Each of us has an adversity quotient.
Therefore, we should stop piling up scar tissue from past hurts.
The work is very helpful in pointing toward success mechanisms rather
than dwelling on past failures or lost opportunities. This acquisition
would be helpful for the career planner in your household.
The New Psycho-Cybernetics.......2007-08-27
Dear Sirs,
The book New Psycho-Cybernetics was delivered to my home address completely ruined and ripped of. The post officer said that the package was already ruined when it came. I did not know to whom I could complain and who was responsible for the damage.
I am a scientist and I work in serious science and do not have much time for writing complaints. When I read the book, which you will send me properly packed, I will tell you the book's contribution to the humanity.
Your truly,
Prof. Tadeja Jere-Lazanski
P.s: I did not buy another The New Psycho-Cybernetics book.
timeless book.......2007-08-27
There is not a lot new to me in this book due to my previous readings over the years, however, this book was first written decades before many other books I read. Maltz has it all together in this book - and maybe other books I've read have gotten their ideas from him. Still a good read and very worthwhile if you want to understand more about yourself and others.
4 Daily principles .......2007-08-14
1. Forgive others completely everyday. 2. Forgive yourself completely everyday. 3. See yourself at your best. 4. Care and worry about yourself Everyday.
Great contribution to humanity.......2007-06-27
I find no words are enough to describe the real value of this book. I want to thank the ones behind this work for all the good they are doing to humanity. Please do not hesitate to buy it. It is a great guide to how to live in pure satisfaction, which means happily

Life changing book.......2007-09-28
This is a great book for anyone serious about changing their self image, and in the process changing their life.
self-help.......2007-09-13
Psycho-Cybernetics, I read almost 40 years ago. Not having touched it since has not dimmed the lasting and positive impression it had on me. Though I may not or do not remember details, I do recall it actually being one of the more important books I have read. It made sense to me and helped me when I was young. Now, while I try to help many struggling teen-agers, I am pondering if this book could help; is it still available? Then, I find to my pleasant surprise, it is; right there, on AMAZON.COM.
Best self-help book I've ever read...bar none.......2007-07-22
I've read stacks of self help books in my life. Most of the useful advice in each of the other self help books I've read have been padded versions of various truths in this book, which should be required reading for U.S. children entering Junior High. You could save yourself a lot of time and money by just getting this book. Thanks Max!!!
Put the wind in your sails and stay on course........2007-06-27
In a nutshell no one is perfect so accept yourself the way you are.
Forgive yourself and others. Have compassion. Accept yourself.
SEE YOURSELF AT YOUR BEST!
This CD discusses the importance of self image psychology, and how to stay on course to reach success and happiness. If you believe you can or can't do something you are probably right, but your servo mechanism will steer you in the direction of success. Having the courage to pursue your goals is the first step to achieving any success. Substitute old habits of failure with new habits of success by vividly imagining success with enthusiasm! You CAN push guilt and fear aside.
When we are off target we need to recognize that and make the propper corrections:
1. Frustrated? Remember assets. [Make a list of accomplishments.]
2. Aggression? Okay channel that energy! Use it towards your goals!
3. Insecurity? Make a decision.
4. Loneliness? Be kind and friendly. Show that you really care.
5. Uncertainty? Admit mistakes.
6. Resentment? Don't blame - visualize success!
7. Emptiness? Have goals.
When we are on target we will have shifted our focus to what really matters.
Train hard and have fun!
Guro Dennis Servaes
