Book Description
Jessica Fletcher is pitching in to help Cabot Cove's first Lobster Festival by writing an article about the lifestyle of the local lobstermen. But instead of getting the story, she becomes tangled in a net of intrigue and murder. And she better sink her claws into this puzzling case-or she may find herself becoming the next catch of the day.

An exorbitant price.......2007-08-01
I want to order this product but find that the price is too high. I have noticed that other Audio CD releases are much more affordable. Why not this product? And who's paying these prices? The three stars account for the product's excessive price tag, not the story itself. Sara.
The Maine Mutiny - Not the Usual Good Stuff.......2006-12-02
It was good, not great, as is usual for Mr. Bain. Jessica floating in the water.....not believable. I was happy to see that she was back in Maine. I always enjoy all the characters that she interacts with.
jessica does it again!.......2005-08-29
i really enjoyed this book i'm a big fan of the series so i was excited to own a few of the books.......can't wait for the next one. Thanks JB..........
another cracking read!.......2005-07-06
Having read all the Murder She Wrote books by Donald Bain, this one ranks as one of the weaker ones due to a slightly slow pace, however, having said that, even the weakest books in this series are totally enthralling, Donald Bain has a great knack for painting such vivid pictures of people and places in your mind that you could almost be there with them, he has taken what could so easily have been a mediocre paperback TV tie-in series and turned it into an entity in it's own right with high quality plots and superbly rounded characters, this particular story is centered around the inaugural lobster festival in Jessica's Home town of Cabot Cove and sees Jessica become entwined in the sinister and deadly politics of the local lobster industy.
Altogether, as usual another great addition to the series.
A loooooong read.......2005-06-30
I, like several of the other reviewers of "The Maine Mutiny" have read and enjoyed all of the Murder, She Wrote books available thus far, but am having trouble finishing this one. There seems to be too much detail about lobstering and not enough action. I am happy that the setting is Cabot Cove though - I always enjoyed the tv episodes that were set there more than the ones set elsewhere.
Product Description
Mutiny: Cabot Cove, ME, is a quiet little community. Although the town profits from the lobster trade, tourists avoid the Main Street shopping district. The First Annual Cabot Cove Lobster Festival promises to change all that, with a 3 day celebration featuring a crafts fair, beauty pageant, & feast provided by the town's lobstermen. Mystery author Jessica Fletcher will also contribute to the affair by penning a feature article about the lobstermen for the local newspaper. But Jessica finds that the lobstermen are a tight-lipped group when it comes to their business. Their arrangement with the town to provide enough lobsters for the festival has caused dissension in their ranks. When Jesesica discovers one of them murdered, she must outwit a killer before she becomes the next catch of the day.
Palette: Jessica Fletcher has come to the elegant Hamptons on Long Island's gold coast for a sinfully sweet spell in the sun & to indulge her secret burning passion; painting. In this place where the arts flower & artists flock, she finds a sketching class where she can try to make her dreams come true. But Jessica has only a brief time behind an easel before she finds herself under the gun to solve a mystery as tantalizing as its victim. A lovely young model lies like a corpse on a studio floor, & Jessica needs no painter's eye to realize that her look of death is no pose. Jessica lays down her brush & starts picking up every clue in & out of sight. Back at doing what she does best, she finds herself involved in a case where a mysterious masterpiece, a mountain of money, a mourning millionaire, & a slightly mad painter lead her down a twisting trail of illusion & confusion. Watching her every move is an artist of evil, who is all too willing, eager, & able to color Jessica blood red.

Book Description
Think all heroes have washboard abs? Think all heroines wear Size 3 Junior Petite? Think again! Come join Gene Wolfe, Elizabeth Anne Scarborough, Jane Yolen, Jody Lynn Nye, and Sharon Lee & Steve Miller, who along with nineteen other authors, introduce you to some of the funniest, wildest, sexiest, most powerful, and normal (considering these are science fiction, fantasy, and horror stories) fat people on earth and a few other planets. Meet a pirate named "Valkyrie" and a cardsharp named "Fat Moriah". Meet a xeno-fitness instructor and an earth-mage who don't apologize for taking up space. Meet fat cats on a mission and a very different kind of vampire. Meet characters for whom "plus-size" is about body size and heart. Brought together in this first-of-its-kind collection are stories that raise the set point on adventure and redraw the picture of "the hero" along the way. Tales of power and abundance that prove that heroes and heroines come in all sizes.

Unique and Exciting.......2001-07-26
"Such A Pretty Face" puts more than just a new look at an old stereotype. Editor Lee Martindale has put together an amazing collection of size-positive short stories to celebrate a new era of heroes. With contributions from both well-established authors to new-comers in the genre, these stories are inspiring and entertaining. They affirm the beauty and abilities of a snubbed majority - the person of size. This collection is ground-breaking, exciting, and long overdue, but has been well worth the wait...and weight.
Great read - I hope it becomes a series!.......2000-10-17
No, I haven't any reason to think it will be a series, but I can hope, can't I?
I ran across the book back in July and fell in with the cover painting. Then I saw that it was edited by Lee Martindale, someone I remembered encountering (and respecting) in the size acceptance newsgroups. At that point I probably would have bought it no matter what, but the theme of the anthology cinched it.
I finished it within 48 hours of getting it, and it was wonderful. As usual with any anthology, I enjoyed some stories more than others. I think "Demon Bone" by Teresa Noelle Roberts had to be my favorite story. The poem "Fat Is Not A Fairy Tale" by Jane Yolen and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough's story "Worse Than The Curse" were awfully good, though :-) Paula L. Fleming's "Polyformus Perfectus" left me wishing it were the beginning of a novel rather than a short story.
I've already recommended this book to quite a few people, but I have a feeling I'll be handing it out to more. I'll probably buy a hardback copy to keep and loan out the paperback, but I'll be buying some copies to give as gifts as well.
And if I EVER find a print of the cover painting by Doug Beekman, it's going in a place of honor in my living room.
Fat is beautiful...and funny........2000-09-06
This is an anthology about fat people published by Meisha Merlin Publishing. Such SF/F luminaries as Jody Lynn Nye, Gene Wolfe, Jane Yolen, Elizabeth Ann Scarborough, K.D. Wentworth, and a host of others present a look at another view of the hero. A princess is cursed, and starts a new fashion trend, a sizeable selkie is the love of a man's life, a forty-year-old fat bi . . . uh, woman rediscovers the joy of creation on a lonely dirt road, and a couple of truly fat cats are far more than they appear. These and more stories just as exciting grace the pages of this thoughtful, wildly funny, and excellent volume of stories.
A great concept, and terrific stories.......2000-07-07
I ended up staying up far too late the night I got this book, because I kept telling myself I'd just read one more. The stories were well-written (I especially loved "Worse than the Curse" and "Casting Against Type"), and while the theme was definitely evident in all the stories, it was not hammered in. A touch of spice, rather than an overwhelming topnote.
Size should not be an issue!.......2000-07-01
I found Such A Pretty Face a delightful romp from one end to the other. I very much enjoyed the concept that someone's size is irrelevant to their personality and abilities. The characters were people first and fat/large/whatever second, something I think more characters (and people) should try. I intend to buy many copies to give as gifts and would recommend this book to anyone who is tired of the fat versus thin stereotypes. These stories prove that there is more to people than just their packaging.

Book Description
A sexy, sometimes humorous, sometimes poignant, contemporary romance that gently exposes the damage to heart and soul when we fail to look beneath the surface for what truly matters.
Mia Sanchez is rocked when her partner of four years, Brenda Montalba, informs her that she has fallen out of love with her and that she's planning on leaving town for several months to give them time to "think about their future together." Mia hadn't thought words could be more painful until Brenda followed up hers with, "You've really let yourself go over the last few years." Alone, hurt, and embarrassed, Mia decides to take the advice of her sales assistant and friend Mathew "Goody" Good, the self crowned Queen of Getting Dumped when he tells her, "The best way to get over them is to get even."
Customer Reviews:
I loved this book!.......2007-10-03
This is the story of a woman whose world falls apart one day when her partner of 4 years suddenly and unexpectedly "needs a break"--a scenario that is all too familiar to many. As Mia Sanchez navigates the breakup, her overbearing family, body image issues, and her feelings for Ryan, a carpenter/handy-woman she meets at work, the reader is taken along on a journey toward self-discovery and happiness. The story is told in first person, from Mia's POV. That, in itself, is hard for an author to pull off while still presenting the other characters' stories, personalities, and struggles. This author does it masterfully, and her sense of humor shines through all of her characters, resulting in many "laugh out loud moments".
I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next from this author!
An effortless read.......2007-09-17
This book was excellent. Well-written and edited, I was able to just sit back and go along for the ride, the ups and downs, and I look forward to more such efforts from this author. The characters weren't perfect, but their flaws and circumstances were used to create conflict and move the plot along, rather than just being annoying, or seeming to be added to create random color. The inner journey was strongly expressed, perhaps due to the first-person point of view, but that's something I look for in my books. Each of the character actions and interactions flowed along with the plot, and there were no jarring moments where you were left grasping for reasons to explain "why did she do that?" The characters act like real people. Also, while descriptions may suggest it, this isn't a love-triange, which is a mercy because those kinds of stories generally annoy me. From the first sweet flirtations, the stops and starts, interactions with supporting characters, to the final resolution, it was all an enjoyable journey, in which some pretty intense issues (family, loyalty, abuse, eating disorders, occupational sabotage, trust) are handled with poise and an appropriately light touch by the author: dealt with seriously, but not dwelled upon in a way to take us away from the central story of Mia and Ryan (and Pepito (and Brenda)), and of Mia's journey towards self-confidence and self-fulfillment, something by which we can all be inspired.
Such a Pretty Face.......2007-09-08
This story is well-written, however, the theme was less interesting than suggested by the blurb. For such a cliche storyline, the author did remarkably well with the delivery.
The denouement was beautiful.
Entertaining.......2007-08-15
This book actually has an entertaining story to it, and is well worth reading. I enjoyed it quite a bit. A little more explanation could have been made to some of the financial concepts in the book, such as "business formula" but that is my only complaint. I would definately recommend this one.
Customer Reviews:
this book permits fatties to see how their fellows feel.......1998-07-06
When I read this book, I could see how othr people who are fat get that way and why they stay that way. It made me excited to know that there are women who feel their fat is an integral part of their lives as people and women. It was especially helpful to see pictures of some of the people written about -- to see just how fat they are -- and to know that they often lead lives of happiness and sexiness.

Book Description
The hallmark dietary instruction and spirital guidance within the Nation of Islam, as given by God.
Customer Reviews:
You Are What You Eat--And You Are What You Don't Eat.......2006-08-14
Elijah Muhammad's dietary instruction (found primarily in his How to Eat To Live books) was ahead of its time. Readers must bear in mind that these dietary laws, admonished to Nation of Islam (N.O.I) followers and suggested to Blacks in general, were taught to Elijah Muhammad in the early 30's, decades before the health food craze began. We are just now beginning today, as a global community, to catch up with some of the dietary suggestions outlined in these books more than a generation ago. Such warnings against eating red meats and synthetic foods such as, margarine, refined sugar, white flour, white rice, and fast foods (popular restrictions among health conscious people today); were outlined in these books ages ago. To credit Elijah Muhammad, Black Muslims were eating health food before it was called "Health Food."
How To Eat To Live recommends whole grains, whole wheat, brown rice, and plenty of vegetables and herbs; the stable foods of health conscious gurus. The navy bean, emerges from these pages as king of the legumes and a vital supplement to a healthful diet.
Today, we see a trend of middle-aged people racing the clock and choosing vegetarian diets for better health. How to Eat To Live crossed that finish line long ago also. Moreover, most vegetarians and health conscious people do not use drugs, smoke any kind of leaf, or drink intoxicants at all. Well, yeah; that's covered here also, making the lessons life-saving as well as money-saving.
The knowledge of how to eat to live is a big part of Elijah Muhammad's teachings and probably more important than even some of his followers recognize. Anyone striving for better health should experiment with this diet. The Messenger highly recommended a specific daily regimen accommodating the right foods, which may be a daunting challenge for many, but you don't have to become a Muslim to eat like one. Just eating the right food and rejecting the wrong food is a start. How many know that the much ridiculed (but very popular) bean pie, a wonderfully nutritious and delicious desert, is an Elijah Muhammad exclusive creation? Today, commercial bean pies are sold everywhere; but women in the N.O.I specialized this dish in their home kitchens long, long ago.
How to Eat To Live is a great read as well as a wholesome and refreshing educational repast. Be open minded, because a profound spiritual message underscores these dietary lessons.

Informative, Helpful.......2004-04-20
This book has excellent information to share with people who are serious about taking better care of their bodies through the diet.
Informative and historical.......2002-06-15
For those who want a deeper understanding of the Muslim culture, especially the Black Muslim culture that was in vogue when Malcom X was alive. Although I won't follow the teachings of the "honorable" Elijah Muhammad, I will use them as a reference when trying to understand the history of African-Americans in this country.
Life Changing.......2001-11-25
This book is a wonderful book. It has changed my life and the life of many others. The universal wisdom in this book is much needed by everyone. He tells you precisely what foods are good and which are not food at all. A must for those seeking the truth and road to a healthy life. It is a saving grace for all of the lost muslims in America brought here during slavery and a saving grace to anyone who eats anything and wants to learn the right way.
