Stephanie Plum, girl bounty hunter, the terror of Trenton, the bane of her boyfriend Joe Morelli's existence, and the delight of her crazy grandma's heart, is in the wrong place at the wrong time--as usual. Just happening to be indulging her nachos jones at a local deli when it's robbed by the notorious Red Devils, Plum is the eye witness who could put the gang leader, known as the Junkman, behind bars... if he just lets her live long enough. Looking for a place to hide out from the killer until the cops catch up with him, Stephanie sneaks into her fellow bounty hunter Ranger's apartment without telling Morelli, who's not overly fond of him. All the usual suspects in this long-running series are along for a wilder than ever ride, including Lula the gun-toting ex-hooker, Grandma Mazur, Stephanie's pregnant sister Valerie and her fiancé, as well as a host of minor characters who bring Trenton's seedier environs to life. Ten Big Ones is another madcap caper by a writer whose fans will doubtless catapult this easy beach read to the top of the bestseller list. --Jane Adams
Book Description
ake an exit off the Jersey Turnpike to the irresistible world of America's favorite bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum. She's living with a vice cop, she's partnered with a retired hooker, her mother's hitting the sauce, her grandmother's a swinging senior, and she's tracking a woman who hijacked a Frito-Lay truck and ate the evidence. But the fun shifts to fear when Plum is the lone witness to a gang executed robbery and cop shooting. There's a contract issued for her head and a California-based killer looking to fill that contract. The tenth Stephanie Plum novel is filled with Evanovich's trademark high stakes, high adventure, high wit, and sly comedy.

fabuloso!.......2007-07-30
Like Cheez Doodles: not nutritious, but yummy and fun.......2007-07-16
I usually don't go in for this kind of "beach-reading", but I make an exception for the Stephanie Plum series because they're so much fun. I figured out a few books back that the key to enjoying this series is to think of them as purely entertainment with very little relation to reality, kind of like a working-class James Bond, but female. With a donut addiction.
Stephanie Plum and her two uber-alpha-men, Morelli and Ranger, are as bold and brave as ever in Ten Big Ones, but I took one star off this review partly because their ongoing love-triangle seems a little bit stagnant in this installment.
The amusing minor characters' story arcs that flow throughout the series are as enjoyable to read as always(Stephanie's sister Valerie and her hapless fiance Albert Kloughn, Lula the ex-ho, et al). However, Grandma Mazur needs to find a new hobby or maybe a suitor, as she seems to be stuck in a rut. We wouldn't want her to get too bored and start using that piece in her purse just for the hahas.
As usual, Janet has added a few oddball characters to the mix in Ten Big Ones, and one that I'm hoping to see return in future books is Sally Sweet because he's so f-f-fudging funny. I didn't really like the Frito-Lay lady and her story very much, another reason for only four stars.
As for the plot of this one, I'll leave that to other reviewers to dissect, except to say that the ending was Wam! Pow! unexpectedly outrageous and funny, so kudos to you Ms. Evanovich.
Whenever I find myself thinking "that would never happen in real life" (and this happens more and more with each Stephanie Plum book) I just remind myself that it's okay to enjoy this kind of read once in a while, so long as I brush my teeth afterwards.
And I just have to add that even though he is one of the more improbable characters here, I still have the major hots for Ranger.
One of my favorite of the series.......2007-06-12
I'm currently rereading the Stephanie Plum series in order to refresh my history for Book 13. I'm surprised to read that some reviewers detested this book, because it is one of my favorites of the series. It's another one that will cause you to laugh-out-loud with the trouble that Stephanie and her cohorts get into/cause.
In Book 10, Stephanie gets fingered by the Slayer gang in Trenton and is marked for, well, elimination. Not to give too much away of the plot, but since she is marked with a big bullseye, she needs a place to hide out that won't put her family or friends in jeopardy. Where would you go? She tracks down the BatCave (and if you read the books, you know where I'm talking about.)
As far as continuity issues with the editing regarding the Porsche/SUV - there is no problem. Evanovich is referring to the Porsche Cayanne SUV that they were using, sometimes using Porsche and sometimes the SUV to indicate it had more than 2 seats.
I would have preferred another chapter that wrapped up the living conditions for Stephanie after the climax of the plot, but knowing Evanovich, she just wanted to let us all stew over what it all meant until the next book came out ... and who am I to question the master! :)
stepanie does it again!.......2007-06-08
I have read all the previous Stephanie Plum novels and enjoyed this one as well. She has a great sense of humor (love Grandma) and the twists are just enough for light reading
The tenth Stephanie Plum story and still fun.......2007-06-01
Janet Evanovich is a very popular writer, her books consistently appearing on the best sellers lists. Her most popular series is the Stephanie Plum series which contains the tales of a lingerie buyer-turned-bounty hunter.
In this, the 10th (hence the title) book in the line, Stephanie becomes the target of a gang assassin known as Junkman. While trying to balance doing her job, preparing for her sister's wedding and not getting killed, she stays pretty busy.
The writing is light-hearted and Stephanie, along with Lulu, her 'plus sized' coworker and Connie, her friend with mafia contacts, get into very interesting situations. Sally Sweet, her hairy, cross-dressing male friend just make the situations more interesting.
On the romantic side, Stephanie must balance her devotion to Cop and boyfriend Joe Morelli with her increasing physical attraction to the man in black, Ranger, her mentor and hero in the bounty hunting world.
This story is a lot of fun. Read it.

Great Nostaligic Read for any Big Ten FB fan........2002-07-20
This book is a great read for Big Ten fans. Author details the best spots and hang outs on each campus for a game day Saturday. For Big Ten grads, it evokes fond memories of the good old days and gives good tips on the best way to enjoy all the campuses when your following your school to a road game.
A great book for Big Ten football fans.......1999-12-10
This is a terrific book capturing the essence of die-hard Big Ten football. The book was published in 1989 so it is a little dated, some places mentioned, such as Papa Joe's in Columbus, don't exist anymore. Nonetheless, Bob Woods moves from week to week through one season, vividly describing the sights, sounds and atmosphere of each Big Ten (before Penn State) campus. My husband and I follow the University of Iowa through every season and both concur that the author has painted an accurate picture of football fall in the midwest.

Best of the Nobles.......2003-02-01
Having just completed all the other Nobles novels I think it is safe to say that this is the best of the series. Zaranda is a little bit too perfect, but over all the book really only had 2 flaws. The first is the traitor. I knew who it was before it was even going to be an issue that there was an inkling of a possible traitor existing. The other is the rather overwhelming neglect of one of the best possible secondary characters in all the FR. The Orcish paladin, Shield of Innocence, is really little more than a name who beheads people. I would have liked to have seen more of him as he was portrayed in the last coupla chapters. Otherwise a decent novel.
Just boring.......2000-05-19
This is just a boring book, with no decent plot. The only reason to read it is if you own Lands of Intrigue and want to know the real story behind the ascension to the throne. If not, just run away from it.
Boring!.......2000-04-25
I don't know how this book got so many good reviews. From the first chapter, I was bored out of my mind. The author spends entirely too much time describing EVERY LITTLE DETAIL, and that includes the unimportant characters about to be killed. Meanwhile, the main character is perfect. Absolutely perfect in every possible way. The perfect warrior, sorceress, leader, rebel, and mother. Not to mention the fact that she's exceedingly beautiful. I can't remember another character who annoyed me so much just by being her wonderful, arrogant self. The only reason I even gave this book two stars instead of one is because at the end, you finally get to see what part the sorceress Nyadnar has in all of this. That part was creative, but the rest was just plain dull. Try to avoid this title unless you feel compelled to read every single Forgotten Realms title.
If you like this Realms book then you are on crack.......1999-10-02
Decent good guys but what drunk wrote the story. How did the Zhentarim get dragged into a story that some many holes in it. The book should be called the Realm book that no story written just for the money potential. Realms fans are sadly ripped off by this Harpers series wannabee.
Review From Mr. Ronto's CCG and RPG Page.......1998-01-19
This story has no basic story line, is a jumble of lots of characters, is completely unexpected, and is a great novel! This one of a kind novel is completely a surprise to the reader, because you never know what Zaranda will get into next. One minute things are looking good, and next, she's doomed. Even though the backside of the novel is completely wrong, you still are surprised at every turn. The mix of different kinds of characters is good, but not unique, but they come and go pretty fast. By that I don't mean that they die fast, no, some just leave, and that is definitely unique in a FR novel. The story is serious, but some parts, even intense parts, make you laugh, mostly because of the absurdity of bad things that happen and the ways that they happen. A lot of this story is on the edge excitement or action, and little on romance. But like the novel before it, this one also has aging and not too healthy characters, so adds to the realism. I thought it would be hard to have a novel come close to King Pinch in quality, but War in Tethyr does it. A really good novel, that should be read by every FR fan out there, or just any fantasy novel reader, because this one has something in it for every one.

Awsome book.......2007-01-27
STUDENT REVIEW
The novel Help! I'm Trapped in Obedience School Again was fantastic. Todd Strasser put funny and enthusiastic parts all through the story.
In this novel, the characters were believable. You could almost experience their problems. My favorite must be Foo Foo because she is really, really funny. She jumps all over Lance. The author did a good job on this character with describing the dog and her personality. She is a lovesick, fluffy mop.
In the novel, the author did keep your attention. One of the ways he did this is all the problems popping up one after another. My favorite one is when Jake's in Lance's body.

This book is very cool and funny. I highly recommend this novel to people who like funny books. You should check this book out because when you start reading it, you can't stop turning the pages. The characters are Jessica, Mica, Lance, Jake, and Andy. It starts out when Andy wants to meet Mica (a new girl that just moved to the town), but he's to afraid to talk to her. I'm not going to tell what happens next, but It's a really good book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A fun little gift item.......2007-03-04
I think it's amusing to find everyone taking something--that's not supposed to be a serious book on sushi--so seriously! If you are a fan of some of the crazy rolls we see on sushi menus these days (and there are pletny of them), this tiny book plays up to that. At four bucks from a company with a line of these little 'Best of' series, what does one expect?
Waste of Money!!!!.......2007-01-15
This book was a joke!! It was an actual insult to Japanese cuisine. I thought that this was going to be a nice little book with recipes for some great sushi rolls, but I got surprised!! There are no pictures or diagrams what-so-ever except the one on the cover. And the sushi rolls that they have listed are horrible......"goat cheese, corn, and basil roll", "blt roll", and "peanut butter and jelly roll". Get real.
Don't even waste your money on this book. It should have a negative rating if that was possible.
Disturbing, to say the least.......2006-08-31
This is by far the most retarted book on sushi i have ever seen. It almost makes me embarrased to call myself an American. I have NEVER seen anything like this before, and im sure the sushi bars all over America who make wonderful authentic Japanese sushi would be mortified to see this book.
none of the recipes sound good at all, and its a huge disapointment considering it's titles claim. at most, the so called 'western' sushi recipes look and sound disgusting.
1 star is too many.......2003-02-23
I wish the rating system had a negative stars rating. I haven't read this book, but the discription I got from other readers is enough for me. The saddest part is that, we can tell from the 2nd review that, this book has caused at least 1 japanese person to take on the belief that americans could never know or love real sushi. this is a tragedy.
It's fun!.......2003-02-16
Anyone who reads this book should realize it's a lighthearted, stylized take on sushi ... and, at several dollars, not a comprehensive guide to authentic technique and culinary history. A weakness of buying books over the internet: sometimes the buyer expects something other than he or she orders (hint: you can actually see books in a bookstore!). I enjoyed some of the farcical receipes (even if I'd NEVER actually eat them). Try giving this book with a true sushi cookbook and some inexpensive accessories. Four stars!
