Klutz Books are the best!.......2007-09-09
There should be another work for Klutz books, beyond book. I buy them for my grandkids, ages now 7-13, and they are always excited to see the new gift. They are age appropriate, Mom and Dad love them too,and use and learn as well. I have bought copies for me and my kids and friends too. They are just great!
Grand.......2007-08-24
I absolutely love this product! Arrived in a timely manner and met all my expectations. In great shape!
great book with lots of good ideas.......2007-06-10
This lettering book was really great! it had many fun ideas that i use with everything now. From posters to birthday cards, this lettering kit really helps me to make those "straight and perfect" lines that everybody likes. With good clean cuts and extra shapes for your projects, this kit really is helpful and a good tool. Also explaining how to use different techniques for coloring (such as shading and designing), this kit also explains how you can make up your own letters, and don't just have to use the helpful stencils they include. This was a great book, which i use for my friends and myself. It was a smart buy, and I LOVE IT!!
crazy and creative.......2007-03-16
you have no idea how creative this book is! it was fantastic during valentines day. I now love making cards for eveybody. they use steps to show you new styles of lettering and are very pretty. I probably spent two days just looking at the book! I would recomend this to kids only 12+
Cool Lettering.......2007-01-18
This is a great birthday gift. I have two girls, 5 and 8, and they will sit with this lettering kit and doodle for hours. The price on Amazon beats the stores if you can get the free shipping.

Great, Fun Read.......2007-09-14
This book is a wonderfully exciting, fun, fast-paced mystery/romance/erotic novel. I loved it from start to finish and it is my favorite in the 'Crazy' series. I've devoured each one at least twice. And this one I've read 5 times.
Tara Janzen's books have wonderful continuity and suspense to them that keeps you coming back for more. She has a way of creating delightful characters that pull you in. You can feel the sexual tension between the couples and your heart races with the action scenes.
I've had a hard tiem finding romance that doesn't involve some kind of paranormal element. I do not like getting into a good read and discovering one of the characters is a time traveller or werewolf.
I whole~heartedly suggest you read her 'Crazy' series, begining with Crazy Hot. Tara IS my new favorite author!!!
YUCK.......2007-08-28
I can't for the life of me guess what this book is. It's something of a thriller but is a pale, pale shadow of a Suzanne Brockman. A romance? Well, everybody falls in love (and in bed) at first sight, with pages and pages of not terribly romantic but quite graphic sexual content. Literature? Only if you think the complete sentence should be banned from books. A mystery? Supposedly, but it is only accomplished by using a character's nickname up until the denouement.
This book is crazy all right, a crazy hodge-podge of styles and genres. Only read it because someone in a book club suggested it. I'll never take a suggestion from that person again. This book is awful.
a new favorite author.......2007-08-21
A friend has been bugging me forever to read this author because I would LOVE her books. This is the first title I picked up from Ms. Janzen, and I'm soooo glad that I did. It's definitely a keeper and the writer is now on my autobuy list. Wow, what a story. Just carried me right along. Fantastic characters. I can't wait to get the other CRAZY books.
Favorite Janzen Book Yet.......2007-07-16
I really enjoyed this book. I pretty much devoured it. I enjoyed the mystery plus the two love stories. I also got into the backstory of Superman and Kid going to South American to get JT. I really was fascinated by the lead characters. I felt they were developed really well and that you as a reader felt connected to them in some way. I loved how it showed the past as well as what was going on now. I felt the characters were true to themselves and how they felt. I loved the romantic scenes in this book. I have read this whole series out of order but this book is a great stand alone even though Crazy Hot comes before it. I will definitely be picking up the rest of the Hot series along with any other Janzen books. I highly recommend this book as a great beach read.
My favorite Crazy book - on my keeper shelf!.......2007-04-11
I loved loved loved this book!
Christian Hawkins (aka Superman - all the male heroes in this series have a nickname) went to jail 13 years ago for a murder he didn't commit. He feels that he wouldn't have gone to jail if only Katya Dekker would have spoken up in his defense. Though he got out of jail after 2 years, he's never forgotten nor forgiven her.
Katya Dekker went through her own hell after Christian Hawkins went to jail. She feels incredibly sorry for what Christian went through and feels as though she failed him.
After living in California, Katya Dekker has recently moved back to Denver and has opened an art gallery. She's at an art auction where Christian Hawkins, along with Dylan Hart (another male hero who has his story told in Book 5 - Crazy Love), have been mysteriously assigned to be the security detail. Trouble starts and Christian rushes to save Katya. What happens next is the tale of how these two get back together and resolve their issues and the past.
The chemistry between these two characters is hot! And I loved reading each character's points of view. What can I say - I love those tortured male characters who are fighting their feelings!
Give yourself some time to read this book (and this series). Once you start, these books will pull you in and you'll find that you can't stop with just one book. And be sure to read Book 1 first (Crazy Hot) before reading Crazy Cool - it helps to explain the characters and a subplot that's in this book (Kid chaos and Nikki story) makes much more sense.

Great book for the celebrity hound.......2002-01-27
I love this book! Great as a gift or just to feast your eyes on celebrities. Top Quality Book - and I know what's sexy! - Kristy Welsh, Author of "Good Credit is Sexy"
Gorgeous Good-Humored Celebrity Fun!.......2001-06-23
I cannot remember ever seeing a book of photography as filled with fun as this collection of images from Us Magazine. The humor is solid and clean, something that comedians have a hard time duplicating. The book is greatly enhanced by the special genius of Mark Seliger for this type of work.
Before going further, let me caution you that some images are of partially undressed women that would earn this material an R rating (on the soft side) if it were contained in a motion picture.
The photographs are reproduced in both color and black-and-white. The reproduction quality is very high, and the editors have chosen well where to use two-page spreads and where not to. Although not every image displays good-humored fun, about two-thirds of them do. The book probably would have worked even better if every image had followed that theme. In most cases, the image itself is a happy one that also contains a joke about the celebrity involved . . . creating two ways to have a fun with the image.
Here are my favorite images in the book:
Drew Barrymore (cover shot) holding boxing globes up as a visual bra as she stands in a sparring pose in a boxing ring by Mark Seliger;
Elizabeth Shue nude holding a dog by Mark Seliger;
Patrick Swayze in a slip by Mary Ellen Mark;
Emma Thompson undressed but covered by the bottom of a stage curtain wrapped around her by Neil Davenport;
A puckish looking Hugh Grant by Jon Ragel;
Kato Kaelin in a swimming pool that magnifies the size of his torso by Mary Ellen Mark;
Jodie Foster laughing by Mark Seliger;
Ashley Judd as Marilyn Monroe wrapped in a sheet in bed by Mark Seliger;
Jason Priestley as an urban cowboy tough guy by Lance Staedler;
Whoopi Goldberg looking alarmed by Mark Seliger;
Helen Hunt half-wearing a man's white shirt with a wistful smile by Mark Seliger;
Sharon Stone looking like a 40's pinup or a 50's Playboy model with lots of fluff by Andrew MacPherson;
Julie Louis-Dreyfus spitting water like a fountain statue by Jon Ragel;
Garry Shandling seriously sitting in business attire in front of a burning desk he cannot see behind him by Mark Seliger;
Leonardo DiCaprio thinking in mismatched, outrageous clothing by Mark Seliger;
Kennedy wearing a veil, and using an arm and a hand to create modesty over an otherwise nude body in a take-off on the classic ways to pose nude women without being too revealing by Mark Seliger;
Smiling Rosie Perez by Dewey Nicks;
Sting in a bathtub with rubber duckies by Max Vadukul;
Siegfried and Roy doing an illusion by Mark Seliger;
Juliette Lewis featuring her face and the soles of her feet by Peggy Sirota;
Smiling Lisa Kudrow by Davis Factor;
Matthew Perry by Andrew D. Berstein;
Gamine-like Sandra Bullock by Kate Garner;
a funny, foreshortened Paul Hartman by Mark Seliger; and
David Schwimmer curtseying in a t-shirt and khakis.
"You are a vision of nowness" is the description of this book written inside. I personally found the images more timeless than that. You get a sense of what is universally appealing at all times and to almost all people.
After looking at these happy images, think about the ways that fun appeals to your better nature. How can you experience that kind of fun more often? How can you surround yourself with an environment that teems with such fun? How can you extend and share that fun with others?
Have a great giggle . . . as often as possible!
reccomended...entertaining and interesting.......2000-07-02
though some of the featured celebrities weren't on my "sexy" list, they were presented very well and the photography was high quality. entertaining and creative shots, worth the price if not just for the alice in wonderland shot of drew barrymore on the first page. also includes some random text; very intelligent, provocative and fun. i keep this book out for frequent viewing.
A great book with great pictures.......1999-04-25
In this book, there are lots of pictures of celebrities. There is also a selection of quotes from celebrities. It is worth the money.
Excellent 'coffee table' book...and for autographing.......1998-12-13
Actually, I have two favorite celebrity photography books: this one and Rolling Stone: Photographers. I am an avid autograph collector; so, I use these books whenever I hear about a celebrity being in the area. At the moment, I have this book signed by Denis Leary and Stephen Dorf..with more to come, I hope. About the only photograph I didn't like was the two-pager of Alicia Silverstone. It doesn't really look like her. This is definitely a great book to have on the coffee table for company while you're still getting ready. :)

underappreciated.......2000-10-13
This is a typically entertaining entry in Himes' Coffin Ed Johnson/Grave Digger Jones series. The two Harlem police detectives investigate a stabbing at a wake and the usual cast of colorful characters--gamblers, pool sharks, holy-roller preachers, etc.--are on hand.
Himes may well be the best black American author of all time. It seems he was sold short by serious critics because of his status as a "crime writer" & perhaps by mystery fans because of his race, but it appears a major reappraisal of his work is underway and he is finally getting his due.

These fun activities will help friends grow closer, have a great time, and forge memories to share for the rest of their lives. Who could forget their first slumber party when the gang practiced that new dance step all night long, then pigged out a candy bar pizza; or that friendship bracelet that didn't come off until it fell apart one day in the shower? Girlfriends will have tons of fun making banana facemasks, sending E-mail messages in a cryptic cyber lingo, learning about future boyfriends from the Chinese Zodiac, and munching on S'mores.

Should be higher.......2003-12-10
I find it hard to believe that this book is way down at 207 thousandth place. It should at least be up in the 206 thousands. There are some neat ideas in here, but also some dogs. And speaking of dogs, that whole series of activities where you dress up animals is just weird.
This is an awesome book for neat crafts.......1999-10-24
This is a great book for girls who love to do fun crafts. I rate this book 5 golden stars. You've gotta buy it!!!
Tons of new ideas and hours of creative fun!.......1999-04-27
This is the perfect activities book for young girls. I bought it as a gift for our neighbor girl and she keeps telling me how much fun she has had been having trying out "her projects."
I wish I had this book when I was a kid!.......1998-11-11
I wish I had this book when I was a kid! The activities included are creative, intelligent, and they are actually FUN! My two girls, ages 7 and 9, loved discovering new cool activities and then putting their own twists on them.
The activities are great because some can take up a few minutes, and others can take as long as the girls would like the activity to continue. They also got a huge kick out of the illustrations.
Clearly the authors are on to the fact that girls nowadays don't sit at a table and cut out paper dolls for hours on end! I vote for a sequel---more of these great activities for best friends---girls and boys.
Need something to do with your best friend? Read this!!.......1998-10-27
Although young girls are already creative enough, sometimes they just need some fresh ideas of things to do. This book is full of fun projects-- and they're easy to do without having to buy all sorts of expensive things. Some are just fun, others specifically enrich the friendship, and many teach about other cultures. Buy it for your daughter, neice, cousin, friend, or yourself!!

Cool, crazy and fun!.......2003-11-18
This was such an enjoyable book to hear my child read aloud to me. Just challenging enough to build confidence for the step from level 4 books, but full of kid humor. We can't wait to do Cool, Crazy Crickets to the Rescue.

Not Free SF Reader.......2007-09-03
After leaving, Mavin loses track of her sister, who keeps bird form for
a long time. She eventually finds her on another continent, and she has
gone a bit crazy. The whole setup over there is also very different.
Climbing the Chasm.......2002-12-30
On the far side of Lom, across the sea lies a land that adapted differently to the troubles than did the lands of the True Game. Here humans, fleeing the uprising of the native creatures descended into a great chasm that split the continent. Gigantic plants lived in the chasms ecosystem, and the people built cities suspended from the great roots, connected by bridges and stairs. The cities are peopled by castes, Bridgers at the top, followed by Fishers, Harvesters and all the other folk that make the cities work. And where there are cities of people there are politics and power games. Beedie, a Bridger, finds herself in conflict with another Bridger clan - the Banders. The Banders play for big stakes and will stop at nothing to control the council, even murder.
Into this comes Mavin Manyshaped, flown across the sea on a quest for Handbright, her lost sister. When Maven left Danderbat Keep, she convinced her sister to flee as well. But, once free, Handbright took the shape of a bird and never really stopped flying. Now Mavin has found her a continent away. Gone mad, adopted by the Chasm folk as a messenger from the Boundless, and pregnant by a Birder priest who should have known better. Mavin enlists Beedie's help in keeping Handbright from further harm. Of course, Mavin is enlisted as well. This time to stop the Banders and find out what is killing the great roots. For the first time in a great while, humans descend to the bottom of the rift.
Sheri Tepper loves to tell tales that are quests within quests. When the first layer is solved then other layers are revealed, until the reader finally accepts that there are no real endings. Tepper isn't the only author to work this way, but she is one of the few that can maintain the level of inventiveness required to sustain a long effort. Mavin downplays her ability to shape-change in this volume so that the other characters that form her party can become real players rather than simply puppets. Beedie in particular is a character who could easily have stood all on her own, questioning and fiercely independent. This book represents a break from the True Game books, set on another continent with a whole variant ecology, proving there is nothing gimmicky about Tepper's skills.
Marvelous Mavin.......2000-05-01
I have always enjoyed reading Sheri Tepper, and her Land of the True Game books are a particular favorite, but her Mavin books are the best, maybe because they were written later than the Peter Trilogy, and the Jilian Trilogy had too much of an agenda. Regardless, this is a book I highly recommend!
Drip of tension.......2000-01-26
In this, the second of the Chronicles of Mavin Manyshaped trilogy, prequel to the True Game trilogy, Mavin is 15 years older and seeks her sister Handbright among the people of the Chasm -- who do not have Talents -- over the sea to the west of the Land of True Game.
This is a fun, enjoyable, creative story, with a drip of tension part way through; a worthy addition to those in the series preceding it.

Good, but meanders a bit.......2006-01-16
REVIEWING THE STORY, NOT THE READER.
The Story: Lazarus Long is the oldest member of the Howard Families (a group of Earth-humans who have bred themselves to be long-lived) at over 2000 years old. He has decided that enough is enough and is letting himself waste away. His relatives find him, abduct him, and medically rejuvenate him against his will. Lazarus finally agrees to stay alive and write his memoirs, if they can find something entirely new for him to experience. Part of the book tells us about this search for something new, and part tells us some of Lazarus' more interesting memoirs.
Commentary: This book is in several parts. The first part, which is the least coherent and most rambling, tells of how Lazarus is found and persuaded to stay alive and give his memoirs. He creates a (VERY) unconventional new family, and is given two entirely new things to experience. This part of the book explores different ideas about social structure, family structure, and social mores in striking (and sometimes unsettling) but always thought-provoking ways. It is very disjointed, though. Another part relates Lazarus' one romantic relationship with an "ephemeral" (someone with a normal lifespan). This section is very coherent and fascinating. It also includes one of Heinlein's most memorable minor characters: Buck, the genetically altered, intelligent, talking mule (I want one!). Another section deals with Lazarus' trip back in time to re-meet his family of origin (including himself as a child) and the complications this leads to. This part is also coherent, flows rapidly, and is well-written.
Second Commentary: This is a very adult book. I did not figure out how old Heinlein was when he wrote this one, but there is an almost-juvenile fascination with sex permeating this entire book. There is also an exploration of sexual mores that basically shoots down all limits on sexual behavior, except sex-by-force and sex that results in genetically damaged children. Anything else is up for grabs (and does get grabbed). Not for children, and likely to be unsettling for some adults.

Crescent Dragonwagon shares a wealth of recipes and memories with humor and intelligence in her extraordinary Passionate Vegetarian. She promises that "here you will be well fed, well loved, well tended to, satisfied," and 1,000-plus recipes later, that's exactly what's delivered.
For 18 years Dragonwagon owned and ran a country inn, where she fed glorious food to everyone including vegetarians, diabetics, the lactose intolerant, and people with food allergies. But the real draw here is that this is vegetarian cooking for everyday living. Ingredient lists are always reasonable and understandable; you won't have to search high and low for something esoteric that'll make or break a recipe. This is comfort food that's easy to prepare, and that deprives you of nothing. If you're not a full-time vegetarian, this is the biggest book of potential starters and side dishes you'll ever see.
Dragonwagon's "swoon-worthy, knock-your-socks-off, delicious food" includes hors d'oeuvres; salads; soups; stews; layered dishes; dishes that star grains, beans, or soy; recipes for every vegetable imaginable; burgers and patties; quick dishes; and desserts. From the simple Melissa's Spinach Casserole and Susie Pryor's beautifully impressive "Perfectly Delicious" Stuffed Acorn Squash to the vibrant Stir-Fry of Asparagus with Black Bean-Ginger Sauce and Mr. Panseer's North-Indian-Style Spinach, Dragonwagon offers flavors and cooking techniques from all over the world--everything from old favorites to new twists. With notes on "cooking, eating, loving and living fearlessly," there's a lot to learn here, and it's not just about vegetables. --Leora Y. Bloom
Book Description
Introducing a new voice in vegetarian cooking. Packed with 1,000 recipes that are seductive, sexy, and utterly delicious, Passionate Vegetarian covers all the bases of meatless cooking, from east (Stir Fry of Asparagus with Black Bean-Ginger Sauce), west (Talk of the Town Barbecued Tofu), from the Mediterranean (Swiss Chard with Raisins, Onions & Olives) to the American South (Black-Eyed Pea Ragovt). You'll find lush lasagnas; plump pierogies; bountiful burgers, beans, and breads; pleasing pasta and pies. You'll spoon up soups and stews, and delight in desserts from simple to swoonworthy.
Written by longtime vegetarian Crescent Dragonwagon, author of Dairy Hollow House Soup & Bread Cookbook, Passionate Vegetarian employs innovative methods (try "Ri-sort-ofs," in which risotto technique is used to create splendid, richly flavored grain dishes built around not just rice but also barley, buckwheat, spelt, and even toasted oats with an array of seasonings) and introduces lesser-known ingredients (get to know and love not just tofu and tempeh but a whole new generation of soyfoods, as well as "Quick Fixes" like instant bean flakes). Opinionated, passionate, and deeply personal, Ms. Dragonwagon's tantalizing headnotes will have readers rushing to the kitchen to start cooking. (Can her over-the-top Garlic Spaghetti really be that good? It is.)
Whether you're a committed vegetarian, a dedicated vegan (most recipes offer low-fat and vegan options), or a food-loving omnivore in search of something new and wonderful, this is not just vegetarian cooking--but cooking, period--at its most creative, inspiring, and exuberant.
Customer Reviews:
How can you not buy a book by someone named Crescent Dragonwagon?.......2007-08-24
We bought this on a recommendation about 8 months ago, and we don't regret it. The book is well organized, the instructions are thoughtfully written, the recipes we've tried thus far have been superb, and we've found this cookbook gets far more use than the others on the shelf in our house.
For Anyone Who Likes to Eat.......2007-07-23
This cookbook is my all time favorite of all the many vegetarian cookbooks I have used throughout 14 years of cooking. It is very large but is both cohesive and easily accessible. Her writing too is very clear with an informal style to the stories preceding most recipes that is comfortable and compelling to read (like a conversation among friends). The recipes are delicious and really demonstrate the range of possibilities in homestyle vegetarian cooking. There are recipes made with tofu, seitan, and tempeh (as well as none of the above) and does it all in new and innovative ways that taste great and can't be found in other cookbooks (her angel biscuits are incredible). I think this is key as many cookbooks repeat each other. This one is very original. Having read all her stories and tried several recipes (once I tried a few, I was hooked), I feel as if I have sat down before to have a meal with her in the inn she ran with her late husband. Also, though this is called The Passionate Vegetarian, many of the recipes include easy vegan variations and all recipes include ingredients that are easy to find if not already on hand.
Amazingly beautiful cookbook!.......2007-06-02
Ok, i own a zillion vegetarian/vegan cookbooks, and i have a feeling i won't be using so many of them much after skimming through this cookbook!
An amazing collection of incredible recipes, wonderfully written (you'll want to sit down and actually read it-even though it's over 1000 pages!) by someone who obviously IS passionate about cooking.
I really like that the author takes into account leftovers and how to use them later in other dishes- a great way to make vegetarian eating even MORE budget-friendly :)
She respectfully addresses specific dietary concerns (vegan, allergies) and offers lots of suggestions.
A seriously fantastic cookbook!
Fabulously Passionate!.......2007-03-12
I read this book for enjoyment. She makes the food sound so sensuous, I can't wait to try all of them, and that would take awhile. This book is seriously large, heavy, and packed with delicious recipes. It's also filled with helpful information about buying and using every grain, bean, vegetable and alternative protein source you could imagine.
Along with the food, you get the story of her marriage to her late husband, and tales of restaurants they ran and visited.
A wonderful read!
The ultimate vegitarian cookbook and more.......2007-03-08
This is the single best vegetarian cookbook. It also details the authors life and ties in with each of the recipes. It is a useful tool and a good read.
